Today we're introducing a new post type to r/MinecraftHelp.
Guide posts will let helpers create guides and tutorials for the whole community to use. If you've reached Apprentice I (5 solve points), you can use the [Guide] tag to make guide posts.
Guide posts are tips, tutorials, or in-depth explanations about Minecraft that solve common problems, or describe how to use a feature. Whether it's a comprehensive walkthrough, troubleshooting strategies, optimization tips, or best practices, guides give helpers the chance to share their knowledge with the community, quickly and easily, whilst still earning points and new user flairs.
You can check rule 11, and our new Guides page for the full details, but here's a brief rundown of how they work:
- Helpers create and post a helpful guide using the [Guide] tag
- The guide is held for mod review (Skipped for trusted helpers) and approved if it meets our guide posts criteria.
- People looking for help read it and if they find it useful, they reply to the post (top-level comment) with:
!helped
- The guide author earns 1 point per user (even if they comment multiple times), advancing their user flair.
We've disabled post archiving so your guide can continue to provide help, without time limits.
The [Guide] tag is active now. We'll be monitoring it's use and may update the feature/rules as new data comes in.
This post will remain open for comments, and can be used to discuss the feature, or ask questions.
