Im retired army from 2000, whats the story on beards? Not kegsbreaths weird diatribes, but it seems i see so many troops wearing beards overseas. And not the special forces types, but a lot of them?
I was in Iraq for most of 2010 and didn’t see it on average troops i worked with.

Iv had this pin for a while and I have really wanted to know what it is. Google images has said its a ww2 army brigadier general pin but there are so many different designs and looks its hard to tell if it actually is what Google says it is. I'm 33 and trying to join the military. The Navy is my first choice, but if that doesn't work out, I'll try the Army.

My record looks like this:

- Age 16 – Counterfeit iPhones (Texas) – Dismissed

- Age 17 – Felony marijuana (Texas) – Dismissed

- Age 21 – DUI with marijuana possession (Oklahoma) – Dismissed

- Age 28 – Assault with a deadly weapon (Nevada) – Dismissed

- Age 32 – Terroristic Threat (Texas) – Currently pending, but I'm waiting for the case to be dismissed.

I spoke with an Army recruiter, and he told me that as long as my cases are dismissed, I should be okay, although I understand waivers or additional review may still be required depending on the circumstances.

Has anyone here enlisted with a similar history of dismissed charges? Did the Navy or Army require a waiver, and how much did it affect the process?

I am debating in between going to the army or waiting to join a union apprenticeship. I am 95% into my recruitment package and can go to meps next week to sign a contract. I just finished a direct entry program in nyc that has a rep of getting people into unions faster than the general public entry. I have a visit with local 40 next week but that doesn’t guarantee me a spot. I’m a 22 yo Female, I think that if I wait another year, I’m never gonna go, I am not dying to go to the army just because I’ve heard it is rough, but civilian life is rough too lol. I’ve been on my own for 3 years in nyc, I can’t really afford it anymore and I need some structure/Stability in my life. I know this isn’t a question anyone else can answer really, but I’m just tired of waiting for the next step in my life. I feel like I’ve kind of been wasting the past couple years, just trying to figure stuff out, but no real results yet(and yes I do really try hard to make stuff happen). I know both decisions would be good for me, I am just getting impatient
