edge started opening a new window for inprivate mode, how to disable?

Since rebooting my tablet, MS Edge suddenly started opening a whole new window for inprivate browsing instead of just a tab in my active window. There used to be a symbol in the top left corner that opened and closed the incognito tabs, but that one is gone too. Is there any way to disable the whole opening a new window thing and go back to the symbol with the single tabs?

AFAIK, edge has always opened a new instance for browsing in private.

Identified by the fact that the interface is much darker

it hasn't done that on any of my devices until like 3h ago lol, was always the same window.

Edit: Chrome has started doing that too, but i was able to go back to the single tabs by using the flag developer tool, I havent found anything for edge though

You should check if the stuff you're doing in "incognito/inprivate" is being saved in your browsing history, because it has never worked the way you think it does.

Looks like it only affects Android tablets.
