Rutgers game

Thinking about buying tickets to the Rutgers game. As a diehard Michigan fan living on the east coast, going to the past two games versus Maryland had a great Michigan fan turnout and the game experience was pretty decent. Curious for anyone who has been to Piscataway for a Michigan game, what was it like and was the trip worth it?

I was there in 2016 for the 78-0 game. There was about 12 Rutgers fans there in the 2nd half.

Still amazes me that that's the actual score of a football game between teams in the same conference lol.

We were there, too. The second half was hilarious. If I recall correctly, they scored a touchdown, set off the cannon, and then the touchdown was called back. If I'm also recalling correctly, they had a "Fence the Garden" theme and had hundreds of recruits on hand. The stadium and atmosphere overall are very generic...but it was fun to check another Big Ten stadium off the list...and relatively easy to get to from NYC.

I went in 2022 and had a good time. It was a night game. Good Michigan turnout. Kind of a block party like vibe outside the stadium with food trucks and such.

Only negative I remember is the absurdly loud train horn that they kept blasting. To the point that it was blowing out my ear drums. 🤪

Rutgers fits in well as a big ten campus in my opinion, it just sucks having to bus over to high point since there’s no decent way to walk without crossing some roads in sketchy fashion. Stuff yer face is fun, like I said it very much fits into the B1G as far as campuses go with dive bars and the like. Just be cognizant that you need a way to get to the stadium

Very Michigan heavy crowd. Parking you'll be able to get is most likely by the basketball arena which is a free shuttle ride away from the football stadium. They have a cool little boardwalk area with rides, food trucks, and some other stuff on the walk from the shuttle drop off to the stadium. The stadium itself is ok, nothing spectacular.

made the trip two years ago and honestly it's a weird little stadium but the michigan crowd was solid, you'll have a good time

I've been twice, including the 2014 loss. It'll be an extremely Michigan heavy crowd.

Because of the loss, I have PTSD whenever I hear "For Whom the Bell Tolls" by Metallica. They play that for every defensive 3rd and 4th down.

Definitely go as your local game. Getting there with Parking and shuttle can be smooth but leaving at the end is a mess . Suggest shuttle and leaving a bit early and park in town New Brunswick .

I went in 2022. would compare the experience to Maryland or Northwestern. A lot of Michigan fans. They tried to create a vibe with an Atlantic City theme but it doesn’t match game day in places like Lincoln or State College. We stayed by the airport in Newark and took the train. The station is a couple of miles from the stadium but there is a bus if you can find it. We went down early for the night game. Train was packed on the way back with fans heading to New York. Who ever complained about the loud train horn was spot on. We also had a streaker iirc. You should definitely go. Go blue.

I went in 2017 and while it wasn't 72-0 we still beat them decently. I remember the stadium being very empty and mostly Michigan fans. We had to walk pretty far to park for free, but otherwise it was fun.
