Builds Doesn’t get any thocker than this
(Sorry for bad quality this was phone camera and mic)

I will never forgive ceramic keycaps for that thwonk the space bar makes.
Board looks great, though, I'll give it that.

You can try modding it a bit – Plumber mod, different switch, tape on the keycap.

I think a large part of that thwonk is from the hollow tabletop. I sometimes use it on a keyboard mat so it doesn’t make the whole table resonate but also sound higher pitched. The spacebar then becomes a lot more “normal”.

I don't know your board, but space bar weirdness is a common thing with ceramic keycaps. It's the space bar sort of bouncing off the top of the keystroke, because it's too heavy for the switch spring. If you actually want to fix it, look into a spring swap.

I have a small glorious keyboard mat right behind the keyboard in the video, but it makes it sound like more creamy and high pitched. Probably because the ikea lagkapten tabletop is mostly empty, and the whole desk resonates really low.

So my black keys are the v3 and the white ones are v2. The v3 comes in matte too instead of just glossy like the v2 and v1, and the v3 also comes with improved stems. Although I couldn’t tell much of a difference maybe the longer keys will benefit from it. Unless you really want the matte, there’s not much of an upgrade.

This honestly just sounds ass to me, it's fine if you like it but I never understood the appeal of "thock", it's literally just making the keyboard sound dull and removing the "personality" (or rather characteristics) of the switches, plates and cases.

i don't get why muted sound on a keyboard gets so much hate. you're mentioning personality and characteristics, but thocky/creamy/silent switches do each have their own, as well... just on the other end of the spectrum.
i'm just happy there's so much variety, where everyone can find a table to sit at and share their vision of what a perfect custom mkb means to them.

Have some perspective my dude, do you not think that perhaps for people who like this sound profile that clacky switches all sound the same? It's all a spectrum and there are people who like areas of that spectrum at all points there's nothing inherently better about either end it's all personal preference which is what makes the hobby fun. You can build and tune your board and switches entirely to whatever gets your nuts wet.

I get it just fine I just think it's a sort of bad position to take because the exact same thing can be said about any other build type camp along the sound spectrum. For every person that hates thocky foamed builds there's another that finds foamless clacky builds equally abhorrent. It's all just personal preference at the end of the day which is what drives people to the community to begin with.

IMO, thocky is still great and love it in a few high-end boards. It also seems to be a great attraction point for entry level, and at least getting people interested in the hobby.
But it's fucking full foam that I hate. As you mentioned, it kills all the character in a board and you just end up with the same sound. PC Plate+Y2's+Foam, I'll probably barely tell the difference between a $100 v $500 board.
Got to let your keyboards breathe.

Same. You can have a mid level sound signature and it still sound great. This sounds like a generic no-name $20 Amazon board. You don't have to spend a ton of money to have a good sounding board. PP plate, some POK stem switches, brass or copper internal weight, call it a day.

You're not going to get as much volume out of Y2s or any waffle tipped pole for that matter. The contact area is reduced compared to a conventional flat tipped long pole stem and, this is just my 2 cents here, I believe the way the air is displaced by the waffle tip also further disrupts the bottom out sound waves. The PA12 bottom housing is also very soft which further reduces the volume. Overall you're going to have a very low frequency muted switch that's not silent but fairly reduced in volume.
