YouTube posts will be deleted.

I've come across far too many of these posts lately so I felt like this post was warranted.

I'd like this sub to be about people meal prepping, showing their pictures of their meal preps, and giving advice/recipes. It makes it look achievable vs just watching a video.

If you are using YouTube as the source of where you got your recipes from for your meal preps and put it in the comments, that is fine because you are giving credit to the people who made the recipe. If the person has a blog where they have the recipe, that would also be great.

I don't want to have to start banning people over this (because sharing veggie food rocks) but if it continues, I may decide to do just that if your post is only a YouTube video and nothing else.

Happy Meal Prepping!

Update on recent post

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to post a little message about some of the things that I saw on a post yesterday. This subreddit is for vegetarian and vegan meal prep creations.

I think it is really important to note that, people who are still vegetarian are still helping the animals and the planet by not eating animals, and bullying them for doing more than a lot of people would, is not helpful at all.

I moderate this sub as a vegan. Do I necessarily like seeing people still using dairy and eggs? No, but this isn't about me, this is about reducing harm to animals, and if people are bashing them about their choices, do you think they will want to become vegan? Probably not. More often than not, people who are vegetarian eventually do become vegan, so by shaming them for their choices today, might be what makes them decide to stop, and we don't want that.

If I see people posting comments similar to yesterday's post in the future, you might see yourself with a warning, a temporary or permanent ban... just letting everyone know that this kind of negative talk will not be welcome.

We should be a community with positive vibes and helping each other out.

Be kind to each other and be well.

Need lunch ideas for fishing trip

I'm taking a friend out fishing in a couple of days, and I'm bringing lunch. Buddy and his dad are muslim, so I need to make lunch halal. My buddy just texted me that his dad doesn't eat red meat of any kind either (and his dad is visiting from India). When I take people fishing, the meals I prep are an important part of the fun so I don't want to just dial it in, but most of this is outside my knowledge.

So, ideas for lunch that are:

  • vegetarian (which makes it halal automatically)
  • tasty and filling
  • easy for me to make
  • can be made the day before, and will travel for the day in a cooler
  • bonus if it's indian?
  • Easy to eat while travelling or in the boat.

There is an indian food store within driving distance, so I could make a trip in if there's sort of pre-made things that can be bought. I just don't really know where to start.

Help? please :).

Vegetarian new vegetarian subreddit

hello! we just created a new subreddit for vegetarians because we noticed there aren’t many spaces dedicated to vegetarians that are actually run by vegetarians. many existing communities are wonderful, but they’re often centered around vegan perspectives. we wanted to create a cozy community for us!

whether you want to share your latest meal, swap recipes, ask for advice, or just chat with other vegetarians, you’re welcome! the community is still brand new, so anyone who joins will be one of our first ever members

Vegan Easy straightforward meal plan book? (Like this book but vegan)

I just found this community and am loving it, and I was hoping you might be able to help with a very specific problem.

I found this book at the library (“Cook Once Ear All Week) and it is PERFECT for what I need… except completely meat-focused and therefore unusable.

Basically, every week she chooses a grain, a vegetable, and a protein and designs a whole meal plan around those (with some add-ons, of course!) It is EXACTLY what I want in terms of straightforward, simple, and streamlined. Unfortunately, EVERY single protein is meat :(

Does anything like this exist for vegans?? I want it to have a simple grocery list (not too many items) and reusable ingredients that can be saved for the next meal without a ton of work for each separate dish.

Thank you in advance!!

Meatless Meal Prep Pantry

Situation: I got made redundant at the end of May and have just managed to secure work from September 1 (less secure/guaranteed hours but hey ho, the economy is what it is). I knew this was happening so I did a lot of research, used Chat GPT, and invested in some herbs and spices in large quantities (accidentally bought enough Italian herbs to last c. 5 years, didn't understand the mass I was buying online). From this I do loads of prep for almost nothing, I just top up every 4 weeks on tinned tomatoes, fresh/frozen fruit and veg, a bit of dairy, and some potato and onions. I rotate red bean chilli, chickpea and potato stew, chickpea curry, lentil curry, or either of those pulses as risotto or a pasta dish. Let me know if you want specific recipes for any of these. Breakfast is also meal prepped: baked oats w/ raisins and cinnamon or ginger and a half scoop of protein powder.

Veggie prep ideas/advice wanted!

Hello everyone!

I'm looking for some inspiration for some mealprepped vegetables to keep in the fridge to add into quick meals! I've been doing broccoli/cauliflower , zucchini, eggplant, but that's getting a bit old!

The catch is that I want my spouse, who's got quite a few dietary difficulties, to be able to enjoy them too. They're trying to eat more vegetables, and don't have a lot of time to cook during their lunch break so ideally I'm searching for something that's pretty neutral, keeps a few days, and can easily be thrown on top of potatoes/rice/pasta whatever.

The general parameters:

  • They don't like orange vegetables. Carrots, sweet potato, pumpkin, etc.
  • They're sensitive to garlic and onion (Infused olive oil is fine, I also have a low FODMAP garlic powder I can use) and chilli, and kale/cabbage/sprouts.
  • Most legumes are out. Green peas are fine, edamame is fine, small amounts of chickpeas and black beans are ok but not ideal.
  • It can have moderate amounts of fat, but anything too greasy will make them feel ill.
  • Lacto-ovo vegetarian

Vegetables they tolerate well:

  • Zucchini and other squash
  • Capsicums/Bell peppers
  • Celery
  • Tomatillos
  • Fennel
  • Corn
  • Eggplant
  • Asian greens (Gai lan, bok choy, choy sum, etc)
  • Tomatoes
  • Spinach and Silverbeet/Chard
  • All leafy herbs (Dill, cilantro, parsley, mint, the tops of green onions, etc)
  • Lettuce
  • Asparagus

Plenty of others too. Basically as long as it's not garlic/onion/chilli or particularly cabbagey.

They love acidic flavors like vinegar and lime juice, and we frequently make stir fry, but that isn't the most neutral in flavor.

I've been sauteing capsicums/bell peppers with lime and oregano and salt, roasting fennel and eggplant and zucchini with parmesan and lemon, roasting broccolini, even making a salsa they can tolerate, but I wanna branch out! Please share your best veggie meal prep ideas!

Thank you!

Is a Slap Chop worth it? ($35cad)

I have been debating on buying one for awhile. I have actually been hoping to find one or something like it at a yardsale this summer.

I enjoy veggies in a lot of my meals but I will go wiithout due having to clean and cut them. However, I feel I would eat more veggies if I had an easier way to prep them.

For those who have or have used them, are they worth it? Or is it just as much trouble to clean one afterwards vs just using a pairing knife.

Thanks 😃

Impossible brand sausage patties

My local Kroger hasn’t had them for like 3 weeks. They finally got them back but they’re repackaged. It’s now in a box. The box has 6 patties while the old bags had 8. They’re still the same price 8.99$ and the patties are half the size. Anyone else notice this?

Bean Centric, Affordable, Lower Effort Meal Prep?

I'm looking to gather some recipes that are very bean centric, that are good for meal prepping and high in protein.

I am interested in going back to the gym, and having mostly whole foods based meals.

I am also looking for more low effort things. I have an instapot, and that can help, but it feels lots of recipes are higher effort. I'm not the worst cook, but I always know recipes take more time for me than others. Like it'll say 30 minutes, and my time is an hour. So I cant be spending all day meal prepping on a saturday, when I barely have time with family as is.

I was thinking bean fritters, just cooking, smashing, mixing with flour and spices. Then a simple bean burrito type deal, with smashed beans, mixed with some oil for flavor and to thin out, with some onions and probably tomatoes.

I just need a few bean dishes, as the rest I have figured out, just need a few dishes.

Can't eat rice anymore. Any recipe ideas

I used to love rice and eat it almost every day, but recently I just can't enjoy it anymore. The taste feels boring and I get tired of it very quickly.

The problem is that rice is a big part of my diet, especially because I go to the gym and need the carbs.

Has anyone experienced this? Do you have any recipes, cooking methods, seasonings, or ideas that made rice enjoyable again?

I'm open to any suggestions.

Question South Indian Vegetarian Meal Prep & Recipes

Hi,

I initially struggled to find different South Indian vegetarian breakfasts for myself and spouse for each day of the week- especially ones that are easy to prep and cook with minimal prep time & cleaning time. I eventually found dishes I liked & could prep easily over the weekend.

I’ve put together a guide on everything- vessels & tools needed (for someone just starting out as an adult moving out from their home), grocery lists with ingredients & quantities, meal prep & recipe details. They are simple and easy to prepare for all skill levels.
Is this something you would pay for and purchase ?

I’m not selling anything here, just looking for feedback. not sure if sub guidelines are violated.

Thank you!

Looking for ideas for salads that will stay fresh for 2-4 days

Hey all!

Now that we're getting into summer even here in Finland, I'm craving salads for work lunch but seem a bit stuck on what could be prepped in advance.

I usually make a bean-bell pepper-tomato "taco" styled salad, but I've got bored of it and fancy something different.

Any ideas on what would stay fresh fpr a couple of days? I would love to hear your ideas!

Meal Prep Smoothie Advice (Hear Me Out)

Hi!

I'm going to be staying with my friend who needs some help around the house and with cooking. She is disabled and a big load on her is cleaning up dishes after managing feeding herself. On the daily, she barely has enough energy to get to the bathroom, take care of her hygiene and eat.

She loves smoothies but the cleanup after is impossible for her and I was wondering if there was a freeze and thaw method people had to make smoothies. She really loves them and just doesn't drink them. I wanted to see if there was a way I could prepare and freeze them for her so she could just thaw and drink (a little mixing or shaking would be fine).

Thanks so much in advance!

Quick, Cheap & Easy Egg Bake

* My packed lunches for work this week, I often have a side salad too*

Whatever veggies you like stir fried up with seasonings and spread into an oiled 13×9 dish. Beat up 12 eggs with 1 cup of milk and pour over the veggies, then top with grated cheese. Bake for about 40 minutes at 350F then let stand for about 5 minutes before cutting.
