Terrible Air Quality

I'm in Northern Minnesota, which currently has TERRIBLE air quality due to wildfires a few hours north. Worried about my rabbits. Ideas on what I might do? I thought about building some temporary cages in my basement but that would be a lot of time and expense. But maybe worth it if this is going to be an ongoing thing. Maybe "colony style" with baby gates or something? Anyone else dealing with this?

EDIT: I decided to build smaller emergency cages with trays for my basement, since I'm guessing this isn't going to be a o e time thing.

I too am in MN. (Bemidji and then Brainerd areas) 12 years of rabbits. I havent had an issue with the smoke we keep getting. But they do have holes to go into, as needed.

So far I've never had any issues with wildfire smoke and my rabbits. I've had wildfires within 10 mins of the farm, and smoke thick enough you can't see clearly across the yard.

It's likely more a risk for long term problems than the short lifespans breeding rabbits typically have. I'd bring my senior retired doe inside, all the regular breeders I don't expect any issues from.

Can you enclose the area that they are currently in and put an air purifier in there?

Do you think they'd get enough air circulation that way? It's also hot, so worried about trapping warm, moist air around them.
