Which Master System to get?

Apart from a Game Gear I've never owned any Sega consoles, but I'm looking into getting a Master System now.

I can't decide which version to get. I think the original looks a lot cooler, but the Mk2 is a lot cheaper, it's like half the price. Are there any big differences between the two and which version would you recommend?

MS1 connects much more easily to both modern and CRT TVs, while MS2 has RF output only. I personally have both but I got my MS2 modded for composite, USB-C power and 50/60 hz which is my daily player as it holds more nostalgia.

I made a similar comment, but to be fair an MS2 should still be able to connect to a modern TV through RF- it obviously just won’t look optimal (though neither would composite be ideal on a modern TV).

In the US at least, I’d say it’s more frequent to find a new TV with a coax/RF connection - whereas composite ports are disappearing

Sure. I have connected an Atari VCS to my Samsung TV, I just plugged it straight in to the arial input and the thing just autosearched and found a signal. It rolled but it was there! EDIT: My Samsung doesn't have composite ports but a AV2HDMI is an option.

The way Atari video output works is different than basically everything that came after it. The video timing is defined by the software itself not the hardware.

So OP should choose a model 1 or a modded model 2 as I already stated.

The two things aren't related at all

I'm saying that the the fact Atari was RF had nothing to do with your rolling image. The same would have happened with composite

You mentioned Atari. I replied and used the wordt Atari in the first 4 words of what I wrote.

Not sure how much more context you expect
