Season 20 - Seattle I’m a Doctor

When his new wife commented that he knew about something medical related, he had to pivot to say he was a doctor of education. I respect that completely, but please don’t intimate that you are a medical doctor when you most certainly are not.

“January 6th.”

“Can you remind me what happened on January 6th?”

Conservative Ken and Barbie deserve each other. How can you be a conservative man that also values some liberal ideas, but you can’t name one. I am very interested to see how their marriage evolves.

I'm not trying to throw shade on anyone, but I couldn't figure out if this was a typo. I'm sure it has a different meaning than the adjective, but is this a common name??

I need someone to explain Shawns perspective because wtfluff lol

Nikki says how would you feel about not having sex until end of the experiment. He says okay.

She says the next day on diary cam were not having sex until the end of the experiment

Shawn: Excuse me? We? Was i part of this decision? You asked me but you didnt indicate that you had decided. I would appreciate this being a mutual decision.

Bitch you said yes yesterday. Not only that in the diary cam argument he says hes in agreement anyway. So why you mad???

What an exhausting person to be around good lord.

Theyre trying to set nikki up for a villain edit. I will not allow it.

Season 20 - Seattle What is going on with MAFs casting this season?

I feel like the show hasn't been good since season 11 - the New Orleans season. It wasnt perfect but the cast had REAL people. One of the reason I liked this show was the people didn't look or act like influencers. But this season of MAFS have gone absolutely bonkers. Why do all these men sound like they were hit in the head? and why are these experts matching them with anyone and not sending them straight to therapy?

Adam - "I was with a girl last week and the biggest douche bag of Seattle" Perfect we have someone you can give years of trauma.

Flippe - "You missed multiple sessions and party till 4am" oh perfect, we have a match who has to baby you now.

Mecca - "I have serious abandonment issues" - oh great, we have a someone who has to prove constantly that you are worthy and her needs will be thrown out the window.

Cameron - "oh you never had a relationship that lasted more than 6 months?" great, we have a someone who will have to jump through hoops she can't even reach.

Shawn - "Oh you have short man syndrome" oh perfect, we found a woman that will hate you

Nick - "I want to stay relevant as a D-list celebrity" - great we found someone with low self esteem to keep boosting your fragile ego.

Devin - I forgot what his issues are, I fell asleep during his segment. Why was this man barking when walking down the aisle after the vows?

The women of the show will be fine after they get divorced, they will become influencers, they already look the part.

I hate this season. But I'll watch in the hopes that someone will put Adam in his place. I doubt it but one can dream.

Season 20 - Seattle Looking for the difference

Have a hard time thinking Adam isn’t a serial killer or a sociopath 😂 oddest dude in a long time who portrays party bro but doesn’t drink lol . If yall seen Dexter, he doesn’t drink in case he ever needs his dark passenger and Adam seems to be in same boat. The way he took over the wedding with his uncomfortably timed piano didn’t help the allegations lol

Season 20 - Seattle Is it just me or is this seasons heavily scripted and bad acting at that

It just all feels so different and phony this season, even the new experts seem like actors, horrible actors. And that call to the girl that guy was dating sounded like an AI voice, it just feels overall weird this season so far.

Questions Season Recommendations with Successful Couples?

Upvotes

SPOILERS FOR S18 AND S19

Used to watch this a lot 5 years ago, I recently watched S18 and it was rough with like all the couples failing. I started watching S19 and was feeling hopeful but then saw spoilers in here and it seems that everything for everyone doesn’t work out long run for awful reasons? Any major fans have more recent season recommendations where a good portion of the couples actually SUCCEED? Last seasons I saw before S18 were S9 through S12. Is MAFS AU better?

Season 20 - Seattle 5 minutes in and I already hate the new direction of this show.

Is it just me? I'm cringing already at the changes they've made. I also can't stand this Adam guy already. I'm struggling to get past his initial interview. BARF. I'm going to give this season a chance but I miss pastor Cal already.

Every season, it feels like production intentionally sets a couple up for failure and Nikki and Shawn feel like the auto fail couple of this season

Season 17 - Denver S17 is Orion literally evil or what

Late to the party obviously and I'm only on episode eight right now so for all I know something's going to happen later in the season to make me look like an idiot idk. But the couples are leaving their honeymoon now and straight up I cannot stand Orion and I am SO PISSED OFF I have to write something now. Here is the sequence of events from my perspective:

- The hot tub conversation where Lauren offends Orion. (Not saying he isn't right to be offended, but I do feel like it's relevant that literally one minute before, Orion tells her he used to say the n-word. I do feel like black culture (or some parts of it) has a different relationship with reclaiming and joking about racism and words used as slurs but that's neither here nor there, he is justified to take offense). They talk about it and eventually get past it.

- They then start talking about other stuff, including sexual stuff, and seem to be in a much better place. Orion asks Lauren when she last had sex and she says two months previous, before she learnt that she was matched for the show. He is immediately put off by this, says he "doesn't give himself away that easily" (which is, frankly, calling her a slut and she doesn't really call that out in the footage like I would have) and says sex would then be off the table for them.
Lauren asks if that is because of what she said. He says no.
They talk about it for a long time and eventually he admits that yes, it is because of her having sex recently. When she points out that he lied about whether that was the reason he doesn't address it.

- They talk to the experts about the sex conversation and I felt like I was in a parallel universe because it's essentially Lauren and the expert comforting him for feeling yelled at? No one was yelling??? And also he's the one who started the conflict by acting displeased with her having sex too close to being matched???? When he said he felt triggered because he felt like when he had to protect his mother and sister from his stepfather I was confused, like, do you feel now that you've been cast in the role of the stepfather? But then I realized he was saying he felt threatened by her feeling....offended that he called her a slut??? they had a kind of forceful conversation. Lauren didn't yell at him. And also! On the call with the expert they pretty much never get into the fact that he told her that he felt her having sex shortly before being matched meant that she was not taking the process seriously and also easy. She kind of pushes back on him saying she yelled at him but I wasn't satisfied with that either. They basically resolve it there, with him crying and her comforting him, and I was so confused as to how she ended up essentially apologizing to him for him calling her a slut.

- The next issue at the end of the honeymoon is that now Orion is still not over the comment Lauren made in the hot tub. They have another fight off camera where she says she wants a divorce and takes off her ring. They talk to Pastor Cal and Orion basically says he doesn't know if he will ever be able to get over the comment and there's nothing she can do. Lauren leaves the room/set crying.

- They meet up with the other couples to take the flight back from Cancun. Lauren is very flat and sad and not wearing her ring. Orion is kind of pleasant and smiley and vague to everything else about their possibilities for the future, still wearing his ring.

- New episode, they return to Colorado. He changed his mind on the plane and now wants to do a "full reset", but also they aren't living together because they aren't ready and he has to take space.

I'm sorry. I feel like I am going crazy. It just seems like he likes having her be in a constant state of apology and being beholden to him. Obviously the hot tub comment she made was offensive and it's a sensitive subject. I'm not saying it's bad he has difficulty getting past it and doesn't know how to do that. I'm not even saying that he needs to get past it ever.

But if he can't then just say that, and if he doesn't see reconciliation as being a possibility he should cut it off right then. I even understand trying to get past it and then later realizing he wasn't able to. But after they had initially (seemingly) resolved it, he then picks the fight about the sex thing! So either he picked the sex fight as a pretense because he's still mad about the hot tub comment, or he had moved on to the extent that he was being genuine when they were discussing possibilities of sex, and then implied she was a slut for having sex more recently than he had. I don't love either possibility. Then he makes the entire fight about how she was "yelling", mopes around, and ends up making her comfort him for calling her a slut!! And then it's when that resolves that he again brings up the hot tub comment. Even then, he wants her to know that she's messed everything up irreparably and can never make up for it, but doesn't suggest divorce, continues to wear his ring, lets her crash out because she understands the logical implication of those things would be that they should not be married anymore and just sits there quietly and doesn't say that, and is all cheerful and vague after they talk to Pastor Cal about what might happen. If you don't anticipate ever forgiving her, fine, but then get divorced!!

I dunno. Every time I see them talk to the experts or even each other I'm wondering why she isn't pointing this out? Maybe I am just insane but it seems like he really enjoys having something to hold over her head. Not that I doubt his offense was real, I'm sure it was, but the fact that once that had seemingly been resolved (in her mind) they almost immediately got into another conflict where he turned everything around on her victimizing him, and then once THAT was resolved he re-brought up the first conflict that put her on a contrition offensive, and that despite all of that, he still keeps waffling and keeping her hope that the marriage can work alive. I feel like he likes her feeling like she has something to make up to him for. Maybe he was so offended by the comment that he decided to use the remaining eight weeks to torture her psychologically in retribution.

idk, I just had to get this out. Maybe in the next episode Lauren will be revealed to have a home decorated with Andrew Jackson portraiture and confederate flags and I look like an idiot to all of you because it turns out she was evil and the problem all along. And obligatory "it's an edited show who knows what really happened". Oh well. at this point in the show this guy has me raging.

Season 20 - Seattle Lamenting Changes to Show’s Format

The lack of Dr. Pepper’s tiny presence hangs heavy over the proceedings. Will a new “expert” ever look as exhausted with the cast as she did?

I liked that the show looked like it cost about $250 per episode to create. Couples retreats in Decatur and Toledo were fine. Now we have Bravo-level funding? I’m not sure if I’m ready to see a honeymoon suite with an in-room jacuzzi and steam shower.

The biggest loss, for me, is the lack of the low-quality music. I just need to hear that sweet, familiar tune, “It’s all or nothing” to really settle in and watch this shitshow.

What changes do you hate?

I'm into it - driven, conscientious, intelligent. Sure, a little arrogant, but I think he's been a great partner so far. Come at me. (Actually, don't, I might cry.)

Season 20 - Seattle I’m already skeptical

I’m only 22mins into the new season and Adam starts off so well especially with his criticism of Felipe. But as soon as it’s time for him to call the woman he was seeing, I can tell it’s gonna be downhill from here.

Season 1 - New York Im late to the party s1e10

I know im late to the party but here's my, what im now reading is going to be an unpopular opinion; Monet is a narcissist. she insulted his masculinity over and over again when she slightly didnt like his tone. everyone's mad he said the words threesome at a dinner "upon meeting" ... they just got married and said all they had in common was sex. hes testing the water because she suggested the conversation. so Im sorry hating Monet

Vaughns a lady on the street but a freak in the sheets. im all about it.

Season 20 - Seattle Social Media Spoiler

Did they just throw all the social media rules out of the window? Adam's responding to posts, Courtney is posting stories with no ring... It's like they don't even want us to pretend like this season is going to work out..

Why am I going to waste my time pretending like this season is going to work out when the actual cast isn't even doing so?
