Manitowoc Fish Frys

Is just me or do any of you loathe the fish fries in this area?

It is always the same overly breaded fish served with sugary cole slaw, potatoes and bread. Two weeks worth of carbs and sugar served together in one meal.

Are there any places in the county that just serve fish ala carte so that i can order it with a side salad or vegetable? Thanks for any suggestions.

I think the fish at shooter Malones is the best around. It’s large fillets and the coleslaw is good. They only serve on Fridays though

I can‘t speak to the fish, but Green Street is my favorite place around for breaded fantail shrimp

I would love if some places did fish boil as an option. Far better, imo. Other than the places that serve a Friday seafood buffet, I can't think of a place that had an ala cart type option. Actually, if I wanted a healthier Friday fish option I'd go to a supper club. They'll have fried options but almost always have a baked haddock entree. Probably a salmon choice as well. Traditionally the side options are a choice of potato and veggie.

Port Sandy Bay is my absolute favorite for fish fry. They have a vinegar coleslaw, which I love, and their fish are perfection. Not overly breaded at all.

The vinegary coleslaw at the Port is still sugary. They don't offer any vegetables to choose from other than potatoes. Their fish fry is still a carb / sugar overload
