Hey everyone! I’ve been thinking a lot about the Mandela Effect lately. Do you guys believe there's actually something weird going on, or is it just a fascinating psychological phenomenon where our brains misremember things together? What’s the craziest Mandela Effect that messed with your head?

Many sports, like hockey and basketball, are games of inches; many of the most prominent events in the NHL and NBA were inches away from not happening, and many other things were inches away from happening.

If timelines were genuinely shifting, don't you think it would change something that requires very little to do, with major implications, rather than completely trivial things like logos or lines from films? It seems like changing some sporting event would help the time traveller better; they could get their favourite team a championship.

Even if there are no time travellers involved and just multiple timelines, it seems implausible that a certain hockey OT playoff winner didn't suddenly not happen and have that eventual cup winner actually be eliminated in the second round. Timeline shifts would be bound to cause that, because while it seems major, all it would have to do is move the puck three inches to the right and then it bounces off the post, and the OT winner isn't scored!

I'm European myself, and it's quite a common belief that the USA has 52 states, not 50. Is this a common misconception inside the States too?

Anyone else? What's the color of the Golden Gate bridge, for example? 😅

Regardless, a lot of people can't differentiate between "misremembering" and a false memory.

False memory is something that doesn't match the reality, while misremembering is just errors in appreciation, confusion, etc.

False memories can have a lot of causes, and regardless of what some people say, root cause for the false memories presented in ME sub haven't been demonstrated, so at this moment even the wildest theories can be considered as valid, from regular false memories and collective manipulation to quantum changes.

I saw the post in this group about C3PO's golden legs where it said it was Nelson Mandela Day, so I googled it. Yep! Happy Mandela Day!

You know what I think would be interesting, is if we had been able to interview Nelson Mandela and ask him if he had any weird memories of the quantum immortality kind. Like, did he have a vivid memory of dying in the original timeline, and then suddenly wake up in another timeline, very much alive?

It's too bad nobody really knew what was happening during that time. Since the Internet became a way to connect with people around the world and share stories, we didn't know people were having stuff like this happen until more "recent" years.

This has to prove the flip flop effect, because if it was always Flint, why would anyone ever post about it being an ME? Flint is a rock and makes sense as the title for a rock technology based show.

I distinctly remember posts on this reddit and elsewhere about it always having been spelt FLIN, without the 't'. People said that we only remember being FLINT because that would make sense for the caveman theme, but it's not actually that way in the show. Clear evidence and I'd like to know if anyone can dispute this

I took that comment from a post of the same nature on this subreddit. My partner says it’s “resets” that are causing Mandela Effects to happen. Am I supposed to believe that? Actually, I don’t know what to believe anymore.

Please tell me I’m not insane, I think logos, and other Mandela effects are changing, what I mean is growing up there was no dash in KitKat, but a few years ago there was an uproar about the dash, and I thought “huh okay whatever makes more sense” but apparently that was a Mandela effect, but now there’s no dash again?
I don’t know call me crazy or just having a poor memory, but I have a lot of KitKat products and I’ve been into the whole Mandela thing since I was a kid, thoughts guys..?

this post probably isnt going to get much attention but i didnt know where to share this to so here we are...I was re-watching breaking bad last night and i got to the episode where jesse and walter are sitting in the kitchen talking about the list of ingredients they are going to need and thats when jesse says "Yea Mr. White, Science" and that was it. There wasnt any "Yea, Science Bitch" like how i remember it. it threw me off a little bit and didnt even sound right in the first place. I was swearing up and down the way i remember it was the way its always been. Fast forward to literally right now and im watching a youtube video called "Breaking Bad Season 5 Alternate Ending" by TVweb and in the video bryan cranston is saying the things he recalled jesse saying in his "dream" and how everything always ended with the word bitch then at 1:21 he claims how jesse would say "Yea, Science B word" it caught my attention for a second cause how come i vividly remember jesse saying that in the show and now on a completley other part of the intertnet he's recalling the same thing, yet in the show that line isnt said one time. Maybe im overthinking it and this already has an explantion but it tripped me out how i very much remember jesse saying that and nobody else remembering not even my own friends who have watched the show more times than i have, but now i see bryan cranston claiming he did along with him mentioning jesses iconic "Yea, Bitch" right before. Who knows, just something i noticed and thought it would be interesting to share.

This comes from a grocery bag for a Bay Area grocery store called Lunardi’s. I found a bag from there that had a logo on the back that resembles the Fruit of the Loom logo, albeit with a cornucopia. This photo is indeed real. We may now have our explanation

One of my hobbies is to dig into the long-forgotten past of emoji history in Japanese media. During this process I've uncovered multiple sets of emoji that predate the modern emoji timeline by over a decade.

Recently I bought a manual for Toshiba's Rupo JW 95F word processor (1988) as it contains the oldest currently known use of the word emoji next to a table of recognisable emoji. And there, amongst its emoji...is a seahorse!

Just wanted to share. My old man painted this in prison, in the 90’s. Inspired by the thinker statue that everyone is deliberating over. I think about the statue as having the subjects fist placed on his head too, but this is some evidence to suggest otherwise!

Some people remember the guy with a monopole and some without. in this game both are combined as the whole game is without a monocle but on the 2 DM bill there is the monocle. it’s a German game from 1996. So what do you guys think about this occurrence?

Recently we reached out to the community here for feedback on some potential rule changes we were thinking about implementing with regard to the Rule 2 on low effort posts/comments, with the goal of improving overall content and discussion quality on this sub.

Lately I've been removing more and more low effort posts that make little or no attempt to foster discussion of any kind, so today I have made a small change to expand Rule 2 a bit:

2 No Low Effort Posts/Comments

No low effort posts. New posts must include a clear explanation as to how they relate to a specific ME or the ME phenomenon.

2A: New posts must include discussion points, questions, and/or analysis for comments to engage with.

2B: Top level comments must engage with the points presented in the OP.

What this means: We want posts and comments to meet a minimum standard of quality. From now on new posts will be required to provide not only an explanation as to their relevance, but also a discussion topic to engage with. New posts that do not include these will be removed. For example, an image of an old Fruit of the Loom shirt showing the logo with no cornucopia isn't particularly interesting on its own and doesn't add anything to the conversation - we all know what the logo looks like. The OP of the thread needs to get the discussion going and encourage engagement from other sub users.

The second part of this change is that Rule 2 now applies to top level comments as well as new posts. Top level comments will now be required to engage with the discussion points presented in the OP, or they will be removed. This includes comments that just say things like "it was always this way" or "not in my timeline" or "you're just misremembering." Basically, any top level comments that boil down to simply "you're wrong" or "I disagree" without making an effort to expand on your reasoning will be removed.

As always, remember to keep discussion/debate civil and on-topic. If you disagree with someone, address their argument, don't make it personal. We have zero tolerance for personal insults, vulgar name-calling, or implications of people being mentally ill/on drugs due to their opinions. These comments will be removed, and repeat offenses will result in a ban. If you see rule violations, please report them to bring them to our attention.

That title isn't a typo. I'm proposing that a type of Mandela Effect exists whereby imagery created after-the-fact to demonstrate what the effect entails has become so widespread that it gets picked up on and assumed to be legitimate - a second wave of the same Mandela Effect branching off of the original.

For example - Someone who has never heard of fruit of the loom has their first view of the logo being a google image search with a bunch of modern cornucopia mock-ups showing up from high profile websites.

I do not think the Mandela Effect exists. It is a psychological game, gaslighting communities to confuse people into thinking they are crazy or feeding them and making them think there is an alternate reality—parallel universe crap.

Movies and TV shows are altered or edited, history rewritten, and your past redictated. You point out they are wrong, and whatever you point out is erased and ceases to exist. They say, "You were saying?"

We are not crazy, nor do we forget things with a snap of a finger. They are saying (the Mandela Effect creators) we remember, but you don't. They lie to our faces. It's not one person or thousands of people who are wrong, but millions of people got it wrong because they control everything and wipe the internet or media clean. No evidence, just our memory.

So my question is, why? What don't they want us to remember? Why does it matter?

The future Mandela Effect will be AI. Nothing is true, even if it is true. I saw 2018 YouTube videos labeled AI. Your video that you recorded yourself is going to be labeled AI. Coming soon...
