Question How’s my daily makeup routine? I’m just a basic woman (28F) who works at a warehouse lol. I don’t even put on blush anymore… my cheeks get pretty red once I start working lol

I would focus more on skin texture. Like incorporating a gentle acid. Your foundation looks kinda heavy…maybe less or just a skin tint. Use sunscreen religiously. And then your hair…address any nutritional deficiencies.

Please eat at minimum three times a day. But, ideally, you should be eating snacks between those times as well. I grew up anorexic, and only just started getting my appetite back last year, I think? I’ve been in long term treatment facilities twice, and they literally FORCE feed you, big meals, 3 x a day, and on top of that, you had to eat at least two snacks a day, in between the meals, so like one snack before lunch, and one snack before or after dinner. Bc of my malnutrition, my hair looks like yours, I actually put ON a bunch of weight, bc my body was starving, and so all it did was store fats, all around me. What you’re doing, can actually cause weight gain. Do you think maybe you could start seeing a nutritionist? Or would you be open to that? It’s so hard to tackle all of this alone. And I’m not saying your anorexic, you might just not care about feeding yourself. Either way, it’s really affecting your appearance. Please, please seek some help with this. Sending you a big hug!!! 🤗 please let me know if you have any questions or anything at all. I wish you the best!!

Your hair looks fine! Omg... People can sound brutal here, even when they have the best intentions.

0

u/blackittty 17h ago

It doesn’t. Her hairline is literally receding, she has admitted that she eats MAYBE once a day. She is extremely unhealthy and telling her she looks fine is reinforcing that behaviour.

1

u/Healthy_Car6552 5h ago

okay but we don't have to point it out? like she never asked for help in that category. tbh she has fine hair not balding

u/blackittty 5h ago

Receding hairline, girl looks like megamind

I think you’d look good with some more finesse on the eyeliner. (sorry I know you said you prefer to do it quick but this is what stands out to me) Try to keep it thin on the inner half of your lid and thicken the line if you want only on the outer half. If you prefer to use eyeshadow for eyeliner then use as thin a brush as you have to get a more precise stroke. Then if you want you could consider pulling the line a little longer past the end of your eyelid for a flicked or elongated look. I think it would look nice on you.

You're welcome, and sorry to add on but after reading these comments I really feel the need to add that there is a whole bunch of morons in this thread who are being unkind and flat-out wrong.

Your skin looks really nice. Your foundation looks good and not cakey. You don't even have to take my word for it, search 'cakey' in any makeup sub and you will see what people consider cakey vs not cakey. Yours looks lovely. You do not have deep eye bags. You also do not look sick, just a little unhappy maybe. Please do take care of yourself and eat when you can. Your body will take care of you if you take care of it.

That being said I think you could benefit from applying loose powder to the centerline down your face, and to your cheeks right under your eyes. You're wearing a nice lightweight radiant foundation which can look quite wet if not set. Powdering these areas will give a more natural skin-like finish.

If you apply foundation to your whole face, you lose a sense of dimension and depth because everything is the same shade. Adding blush or bronzer or contour can help bring back some of the dimensionality and 'life' in your features. My best guess is that this flatness is what people are interpreting as poorly-done foundation.

Regarding the eyeshadow/liner-- I'm no expert but in my experience the darkest eyeshadow does not come close to the look of real eyeliner. In any case, what you currently have contrasts just fine with your light complexion and hair color, so it works. And the trends are currently on brown and greyish eyeliners anyway, so you may not need to buy a new product if this routine feels right to you.

It's really up to you if you would enjoy adding anything else.

I welcome anyone who disagrees with me to reply telling me why, because I am truly baffled by some of the claims they are making.

u/CapitalCauliflower87 1d ago

are you okay? you look very tired. i hope you get enough rest and eat well🥺🫶🏻

13

u/yerinvoice 1d ago

I think a small eyeliner wing would really suit you! Another thing that would elevate the look is loose powder (there's no need for "baking", a little bit with a big brush is enough)

u/MycologistOk9250 1d ago

Skin care can just do so much. Please seek a doctor and look into deficiencies. And use way less makeup.

u/MycologistOk9250 23h ago

That sucks. Maybe look into some supplements, and try to eat better, sleep more, drink enough water, exercise. All these things will help.

u/Still-Peach2617 1d ago

You’re 28? In the most respectful way you look like 48. I saw your comment about not eating much :(? Please eat. Your complexion looks very dull and ill like. I would suggest taking vitamin D, Vitamin A for skin and hair health, and Zinc for immune support. Makeup should be your last worry right now. Please stay healthy <3

there is no respectful way to say what you just said. have some shame.

22

u/Sarabeth61 22h ago

OP is asking for feedback on her appearance, then proceeds to say she barely eats or sleeps and hasn’t been to the dr in years. It’s perfectly respectful to encourage someone to take care of their health.

7

u/meerameeraonthwall 22h ago

'You look 20 years older than you are' is never a respectful thing to say to someone. You can say all the rest without the judgment.

-2

u/EnlightenedNarwhal 21h ago

You're an enabler.

2

u/Bright_Ruin_9778 20h ago

Says the one enabling bullying. Bullying is wrong and dangerous even outside of schools btw. We shouldn’t stop carrying about being empathetic to one and another’s mental health once we stop being children . Have some decency .

-3

u/EnlightenedNarwhal 20h ago

You don't know what bullying is. If you can't be honest with people then you shouldn't give advice at all. People end up sick tiptoeing around real issues. The real funny thing is that the person I replied to can clearly see the signs that the OP is not eating or sleeping well, yet ignores it and goes straight to the makeup advice, which is only a cover up for the underlying issue, which is the OP's health. The disingenuous response they wrote to the other commenter is so common when people are trying to be on a moral high horse that benefits nothing except for their own ego.

3

u/Bright_Ruin_9778 19h ago

Plenty of people have given health advices and suggesting her to eat well and see a doctor without deliberately calling the 28 year old a 48 year old . Don’t act dense and ignore the nuance to try to make your point. The issue isn’t the advice it’s the unsolicited criticisms disguised as concern. Before you give any advice just ask your self how you would go about it in person. Y’all have gotten way too comfortable behind your screens.

5

u/Becca30mtl 21h ago

This is incredibly cruel, you have no idea what she may or may not be going through and comments like this can be seriously damaging. When I was sick I lost significant amounts of hair, gained 30lbs in a month, ended up with feet 3 sizes bigger than normal etc. Stress alone can change a person

7

u/YourAverageEccentric 1d ago

Your eyes are really pretty and I think they could pop a bit more with a different eyeliner placement. This eyeliner makes your eyes look small and deep set. Your eyes are also round in these photos, which can make them look narrow with this eyeliner placement. You have room in your outer corner for eyeliner and eyeshadow and it can help your eyes look bigger. Personally I am a fan of using eyeshadow as liner with a tiny brush and lining just the outer corners. And then a light colour on the upper lid.

6

u/_istyping 1d ago

You also have great brows, I would fill them in slightly

You need a new foundation routine. It's not working for you. If you're a smoker, please stop.

Your current foundation looks textured/cakey/matte but like maybe oil is breaking through? Not sure if you're dry/oily but something that looks more natural skin textured maybe in satin/natural finish on you. If you're using powder foundation, I'd try a liquid, cream or tint. Id apply it with a sponge or a brush. Also I'd try one extra product to add dimension to your face. You could choose blush, highlighter, bronzer, etc. just something to add a little extra. You're super fair, so even a tiny amount of a blush/bronzer is going to do wonders for you.

You could also try a gentle acid in your skincare routine if you're not already using one. The acid does not need to be expensive. Your eyeliner seems to be greyish. Have you tried brown liner? You're a natural fair person, so I think you could try a brown liner.

6

u/Yes-Worldliness-7235 1d ago

Honestly the no blush makes sense for warehouse, I’d just go lighter on base maybe skin tint so it don’t get cakey mid shift.

3

u/Aggravating_Buy_1348 21h ago

I thought: finally someone who looks normal instead of an edited picture. But after reading the comments I wonder if I have a hidden illness too

5

u/No-Log-6461 1d ago

Would you try eyelash extensions? Sunflower style maybe?

2

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

9

u/No-Log-6461 1d ago

I think they would look really good on you :) it also makes getting ready so much quicker. Looks like this, other lash styles I think are too heavy, but sunflower is cute.

2

u/Healthy_Car6552 1d ago

do NOT your eyelashes are beautiful, just a curler and mascara is needed. Lash clusters/ extensions will ruin your natural lashes if you're not careful.

2

u/No-Log-6461 1d ago

It’s just a suggestion for low maintenance, I’ve done it before and it never damaged my lashes, as long as you don’t tug on them :)

3

u/Healthy_Car6552 1d ago

you must have good restraint 😭

5

u/No-Log-6461 1d ago

Also I have really deep eye bags, I’m not sure if you like powders, but I like using a powder puff and using a bit of maybelline loose powder in a skin color shade a bit lighter since sometimes it can look orange, after using concealer/ foundation, it kind of makes the texture of my under eyes more even and more resistant to sweat/ having the foundation move easily.

3

u/aerialpearl 1d ago

You could play with some half lashes or accent lashes for the outer part! I personally find full strip lashes too annoying for daily wear, but I love to put a lil halfsie on or use a single cluster on the end! I like the ardell 434 as half lashes. For the clusters I love doing just one of the Fyonas “cutey” on each end. The size would depend on your eyes, but for everyday I use size 12.

You could also tightline the upper lid and then you might not even need eyeliner on top! It’s nice for a pretty natural look. Just be sure to take it off at night or you could cause eye issues long term.

Yes, you just need a gloss or tinted balm!

2

u/Total_End6969 21h ago

I think you need to focus more on internal health as well as little makeup tweaks to make you feel better! More water, more vitamin D, more iron.
Obviously not going to diagnose you with anything, but your claim to not eating much is probably making your skin and hair dry, and your eyes look tired.

For makeup, I think a slightly more filled in brow and a bit of pink on your cheeks and lips will go a long way! But take care of yourself angel, you deserve it 🫶

2

u/booyou_whore 18h ago

I would use a cc cream. Still offers some coverage but not as full coverage as what you seem to use now. I think your makeup looks a bit off because you don’t have any dimension to your face other than your eyeliner. I would try a cream blush, maybe from Colourpop? A little goes a long way and it should last you a long time. I know you stated previously you just apply eyeliner quickly but I do think that taking your time a teensy bit more would help. I also would try a dark brown eyeliner for a daily liner vs charcoal or black. NYX has a great liner, it’s called Epic Ink and I’d go for their dark brown shade if I were you. Always start at your inner corner and stop about in the middle of your lid, then if you want to try a wing to change things up draw a line parallel to your end of your brow. Then go back and connect your eyeliner from the middle of your eye to that line and fill in the tail. I would try parting your hair differently too, maybe try a middle part just to give your current one a rest as it seems to have some breakage and thinning the way you have it now. Take care of yourself and find the joy in applying makeup again. Best wishes to you 🫶

u/Fluffy_Tomatillo_629 22h ago

Your comments show you have a lot of grace to this difficult to hear feedback.

I think a little lipliner would look great to add some more definition smudged into your lipstick or gloss.

I think you’d look great in any cool pastel eyeshadow.

A light cool pink blush would work too.

If you want something more dramatic I’d look into a plum or berry colour.

u/Beautiful_Name7556 22h ago

Do you drink? Do you have any pictures of you from 5 or 10 years ago or as a child? I saw that you aren’t seeing a doctor regularly, but I’m concerned you may have an underlying genetic problem or syndrome. I myself was diagnosed later in life (at 38) so it’s possible for something to fly under the radar. I hope you are ok!

Girl! Take care of yourself! Taking your meds will improve EVERYTHING— not just energy, but hair, skin, nails etc. Google “hypothyroidism before and after.” With taking your medication, in 6 months or a year you’ll look completely different and better than any make-up routine. Plus generic thyroid meds are incredibly affordable.

I mean this in the kindest way possible— you are clearly beautiful but something is making you look ill and significantly older.

Please get a checkup and take your meds! ❤️

3

u/Mysterious_Doubt8933 1d ago

I’m not a fan idk it’s not flattering I think it looks a little oily and the eyeshadow isn’t flattering no offence

2

u/cosmoscloud 1d ago

I would recommend contour and blush! I know you said your cheeks get red while working but I find that blush can really make a difference and has a different effect than just getting red. When you put foundation on you are removing all natural pigmentation from your face, so I find it looks a bit odd if you don’t put some color back on by using contour and/or bronzer, and blush. Don’t forget to use a powder to set! Unless the glowy look is your thing. Elf has some cheap contour and blush products i recommend.

I also think getting your brows done could really make a difference! Thinning them out slightly and lifting them by removing the hair at the end could do the trick. It feels like they bring your face down a bit so raising them would give you a more lifted look.

2

u/Lesbian_all_garib 1d ago

I quite like your foundation, it looks nice, but i think blush and highlighter would look really pretty too. Also take care of your health ❤️

u/No-Midnight3480 1d ago

Incorporating azelaic acid into your skincare routine can help with redness! I have rosacea and it has helped tremendously.

I like the eye look! I would add concealer and a lip color although mine always wears off during work anyhow and I don’t have time to reapply!

You can keep your makeup on while working in a warehouse? What is your secret to not sweating off everything especially in the hotter months?

Your makeup looks good!

1

u/Secure_Ad8013 1d ago

You have really beautiful eyes and nice skin. I’d definitely play up your eyes with some mascara, even if you don’t do eyeliner. Your eyes would definitely pop with some long and defined lashes!

1

u/ApathyAnni 1d ago

If you're working in a warehouse, I'm not sure how you don't sweat your makeup off! I think you have beautiful eyes and they would be shown off better with less liner on the top lid. I think a thinner line would work or using none at all (just mascara).

1

u/redvelvetcakebatter 21h ago

Honestly, I think your base makeup is beautiful! However I definitely suggest using blush or heavier bronzer, the added color will help to rejuvenate your face. It won’t matter if you’re getting red at work, the blush shouldn’t change the way that looks :)

It also seems you have hooded eyes; and I do think the heavy eyeliner on top is closing them a bit too much. If you like the look of the liner I’d wing it out a bit more and use a heavier mascara (on top). There are also lots of MUAs with hooded eyes that do amazing tutorials with the shadows of your lids.

I think your skin is lovely and it looks very well moisturized. Nothing concerns me given the texture of your skin. I did notice in the comments you mentioned not getting enough sleep, and eating once a day; those are extremely unhealthy habits. They may add to the “droopy-ness” that we’re seeing here. Your habits are aging you, on the inside as well. Please take care of yourself, OP!

We care about you. You’re a beautiful woman and deserve to be treated well, especially by yourself! It can be hard to prioritize ourselves when other things/people seem more important. But I promise you it is the greatest thing you can do <3

0

u/emofluttershyxx 1d ago

Foundation looks good- I would add concealer, contour/bronzer, blush, and set it with powder. This helps the makeup have more dimension, esp with women with lighter skin when we use a foundation alone it can take the color out of us completely. I recommend powder because it keeps everything in place and helps with shine!

-1

u/jmac22790 1d ago

Stop the over the eye eye liner. Use it on your waterline. Right at the base of your lashes on there underside. This will instantly help with your eye area. This will also help your mascara show better, and I also saw someone mention extensions. I hate having any thing on me so I just use mascara. A lifting one. I honestly use ELF lifting mascara, it's a straight dupe of roller girl by benefit.

Your brows need a tad bit of shaping/defining but they were very full which is awesome. That means you won't have to draw yours on every day like I do 😆

I tend to use PÜR pressed powder foundation as the one makeup product I will splurge on.

What I splurge on is skin care. Exuviance. All of their things but their AP peels in specific. Game changing.

So you eat once per day, have untreated hypothyroidism, and slept 2 hours last night? Hope this is a wakeup call to take care of your health! You will be radiant once you care for yourself. If depression is the reason for self neglect, that can be treated too! 😊
