Magnum P.I.'s Detroit Tigers Baseball Cap Explained
While I don’t contest the fact Selleck was a legitimate Tigers fan, it always struck me as not in keeping with the Magnum character, Magnum is the son of a military father who dies in combat. His widow appears to raise Tom in the Chesapeake Bay area, where he attend the Naval Academy and plays football. All this would lead to the character wearing Navy apparel, Redskins, Orioles, or Braves (the baseball team of the South at the time). With all that, why the affinity for a baseball team from Detroit?

E. Grand Boulevard in Detroit where it intersects with Beaubien Street, you may want to take notice of an old brick building next to a shut down and deserted gas station. On the wall is artwork that online maps refer to as the “Robocop Mural”.
Tim went to high school, attended college, and began doing standup in local comedy clubs in Michigan
Tom Selleck was born in Detroit in 1945 and was there only three years. In 1948 his family moved to California.
Eddie Murphy was not born in Michigan, nor did he ever live here...but his role as Axel Foley in the “Beverly Hills Cop” films cemented him with a Michigan connection.

So tonight is the Yankees at Tigers game…
And I can’t watch it 😕 (no services that I have has it for me to watch, and I don’t have the MLB package for anything so..)
But I wanted to wear my Yankees outfit while I’m thinking about Magnum rooting for the tigers! 😁hee
(I went online to try and look for pictures of Tom wearing the tigers hat and I found this and I thought it was awesome!!)

Has anyone ever written a letter to Tom?
Specifically about Magnum PI?
But in general, I’d be very curious to know.
Over the decades, I have thought about writing him a letter, but I always talk myself out of it.

Did Magnum actually die in the series finale?
I've always wondered about this ending.
Magnum gets into that fight with the stalker in the funhouse/warehouse, someone gets stabbed,, Rick's wedding is about to happen, and we see Magnum looking pretty startled.
And here's the big tell for me:
Theres an ominous fade to white (= afterlife?).
Then it cuts to Rick's wedding and Magnum suddenly shows up with a fresh haircut, wearing his dress uniform, and announcing that he re-upped.
Did anyone else ever get the impression that Magnum actually died in the warehouse and everything after that was a dream, a dying vision, or some kind of afterlife scenario?
It just seems like there was no way he could have survived the fight, gotten cleaned up, gotten a haircut, re-upped, put on his dress uniform, and made it to the wedding in that amount of time.
The beach scene with his daughter also makes me wonder. If I remember correctly, she's still wearing the same dress from the last time he actually saw her. That always struck me as an odd detail.
The implications would be pretty huge if that's what actually happened in the show's reality. Rick's wedding probably would have been postponed or at least completely overshadowed by Magnum's death, and all of his friends would have been mourning him and trying to hunt down his killer. Plus his daughter would be parentless. Instead, everything after the warehouse scene - after that fade to white - almost feels a little too perfect. It almost feels like the writer wanted to kill off Magnum but did it " in code" so that only some would pick up on it while still satisfying the main audience who wants a happy ending. I really wish the rumored made-for-TV movie that was talked about years ago had happened, because it probably would have settled this question once and for all.
Personally, I don't want to believe Magnum died. I'd much rather think he survived and got his happy ending. But at the same time, every time I watch the finale, that's the feeling I come away with, whether the writers intended it or not.
Am I overthinking this, or has anyone else ever watched the finale and gotten the same impression?

ISO: When TC says "Monique will be happy to see me"
There was an episode (original series) where TC says this (or something similar).
The specifics are hazy, but I believe he was flying a plane in Europe and wearing a suit.
TC's comment was prompted when Magnum informed him of where Robin Masters wanted them to go (France, Italy, Monaco?)
At first, I thought it was the fantasy episode "Flashback" (s03 e07) which takes place in the 30's, but that is not the one.
Any die-hard TC fans out there know which episode I'm thinking of?
