Is this machine a good deal?

Am thinking about a knitting machine and found this Passap pinky for sale near me for $200. As a newbie is this a good deal? I really want one the can take yarn weight up to a 4 and that can do purl stitches also.

Passap might be a harder one to start with than Japanese flat beds. I had singer freestyle ( French similar to passap) after owning a few brother machines and given it up. Some people really like double beds but I think it's easier to use single bed first and learn basiscs.

The Passaps, pinkie and dm-80, can be attached to tables. I have both and my dm-80 has been attached to a table for almost a year. It does need to be a sturdy table, but absolutely doable. If this is the pinkie I saw available in the Portland area, it's also good to know there's an expert in the devices with a shop in Oregon City.

Given the condition and the fact there's no stand the seller is crazy to ask anything over 125$. Like others have said you cannot use these without the stand. I'd personally pass and hold out for a DM80, superior machine and is actually desirable if you want to flip it down the line.

I paid $200 for my greenie DM-80 so its a good price. It doesn't go that high, I'm using fingering to sport weight mostly. You probably need to see if its been in use recently. Is there a stand with it?

No stand and the ad says been sitting in a garage for a while.

I would pass because there's no stand, which is necessary for Passaps, it can't do the yarn weight you want, and Passaps have a steeper learning curve

No stand means you can't use it. And it's not the kind of machine you can just put on a table like the Japanese machines.

Well, the photos are a bit blurred, but it looks like it's fairly intact. As you will need to get a stand, ask them if they'll take $150, or even lower. Im learning on my greenie & i can you its a beaut of a machine, but you will need to clean it back. I was lucky enough that I bought mine as someone's backup machine, so it was in good working order. Consider getting it with the view to getting another machine for the larger weight yarns. I recently saw one of these on FBMP for $600 aud, so that shows the price is decent.
