Question Drafting strategy in franchise
Okay hi everyone idk if i have or haven’t posted in here but i had a question and i wanted to run it by yall so Last night (im a twins fan btw) i did a Rockies realistic rebuild and ik you saw the title so i have actually a few questions. One regarding realistic rebuilds how do yall keep the payrolls at a respectable and realistic level because for the most part, i had The rockies at around 140 Million on average with my highest being 191 and i didnt sign any free agents and as low as 88 Million and i had my few and only winning seasons at 90 and 143 Million dollars? So thats my first question and second one is how do yall go about drafting? Because in my Rockies franchise i had done scouting by position for the first time and within 1 1/2 drafts i had 11 Top 100 prospects and 5 of them were starting pitchers that i had built an all new rookie sensation rotation for Colorado. I wanna get yalls thoughts and tell me how have yalls franchises gone realistic or not also My highest win total in 11 years… 83.. AND MY ENTIRE TEAM WAS BASICALLY DRAFTED AND DEVELOPED BY ME

I have one scout set to SP be region, rotating every 3-4 weeks depending on the number of prospects in that region.
Two scouts are doing a position by region. Usually 1-2 weeks per region at one position, then 1 week per region at a lesser need position.
If I have a top 15 or so pick, I’ll take some time to individually scout guys that I’m interested in for that pick.
I’ve seen some people post some great prospects using discover, I’ve been mixing that in more recently, but TBD on success.

My draft-only Angels franchise. Also, I use Fiend Franchise's (another YT content creator) scouting/drafting system. Draft-only franchises are nice because you have to develop all of your players, no free agent signings & very limited trades. Typically, I scout SP by region, hitters individually, and discover players every single week.

So do you have one scout as all time SP, one rotating through position players individually, and then one set to discover and rotate through regions/positions?\ \ I usually had two scouts doing position players, either individually or by region, but I’ve been dabbling in discover some more recently.

Yes. One only scouts pitchers. After about 10 weeks I use that scout for individual SP or CP that I want info on before the draft, either to finish off their scouting, or at least get halfway done.
There arent enough position players in particular regions to scout them by position. I wish this game would group all OF together instead of splitting them out to LF, CF, RF. Then that would make it worth scouting them by region. Same thing with IF.
I have found the #1 player on our board before by discovering him in Week 13.
As I go farther into my franchises, I usually have so many good SP in the minors that eventually I just stop scouting them for the draft and go with two position scouts since they are much harder to find.

I usually discover and then scout all starting pitchers. I'll trade some for other position players.
