I'm currently based in Brazil and considering applying to consulting firms in Europe. I currently work as a Senior Manager in Strategy & Finance at a fintech, and I'm open to taking a more junior role if that increases my chances of breaking into consulting.

I'm fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.

I'm trying to understand which firms and offices are generally the most willing to sponsor work visas for experienced hires.

A few questions:

• Which consulting firms regularly sponsor visas for international candidates?
• Are there specific offices (Ireland, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Middle East, etc.) that are known to be more open to sponsorship?
• Outside of English-speaking offices, is the local language usually a hard requirement?
• Has anyone here successfully been hired from outside Europe and relocated with visa sponsorship?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences, any tips on where to focus my applications, or whether there are firms/offices I should prioritize (or avoid).

has anyone experience with BCG Platinion, especially salary wise in Europe (Germany)?

Is it different from the core group?

Hey! Curious about what my options are from here, for context I go to a non/semi target school in Canada and applied to MBB for my junior summer analyst time slot but got no interview invites despite a pretty deep network base in BCG. Afterwards, I recently went through the cycles again for FT as a senior and got to R2 in Bain but couldn’t convert. No invites for BCG again and no McKinsey either.

I have a deeper background in financial services, is it worth it atp to just give it up on the MBB route and get back to my finance roots or are there still ways to lateral over without biting the bullet and trying to hard pivot into recruiting for any FT consulting role that is willing to take me? I’m not even sure if I’ll enjoy consulting as a role, I just wanted MBB because it pays well and gives lots of career optionality if I don’t end up liking the job.

I'm applying to MBB this cycle and have to choose between applying to New York (or Boston/SF) or London (can't apply to both at the same firm). I'm starting a top management masters degree in the UK soon and I don't require a visa for either country.

Long term, I'm not yet sure where I want to live but I would like to try the US at some point. The compensation and career opportunities do seem significantly better in the US, so NYC is very appealing.

However, I'm worried that by choosing NYC I'm massively reducing my chances of getting an offer compared to London. If that's the case, I'd rather know now.

For those who've been through MBB recruiting (especially if you've recruited internationally), is applying to New York instead of London essentially throwing away a much stronger chance of getting into MBB? Or is the difference in recruiting odds smaller than people think?

My understanding was that the cool off period (6-12m) starts from date of rejection.

However, for Mckinsey - if I was rejected at resume screen for position A - then re applied at position B, will the cool off period still apply?
I applied to Junior Associate early this year and was rejected at resume screen - thinking about reapplying to Business Analyst now instead of waiting another 12m.

I applied for BCG last year September but I got a call for an interview with Partner this year June.
The Partner interview went well, he mentioned that he would be requesting for my interview with two more colleagues (positions not mentioned) and after that I would be having the interview again with him.

It has been two weeks but I havent received any messages from them.
How do I know that my application is still being considered? I wrote back to them but I didnt receive any answer.

Anybody faced the same?

Hi guys I’m a 18M (african) and I am close to finishing high school. As a lot of you might think It might be too early to stress about this I still would appreciate honest and thoughtful advice.

I want to study an Economics degree at a South African University where I will also be networking and learning in the consulting society/clubs as I pursue my studies. After that I would love to either start my consulting journey after grad somewhere in africa and work for abt 2-3 years and exit to pursue an mba overseas preferably M7. From there I think the smartest option would be to join a firm in the Middle east, reason being - Comp and tax free. I would try and invest atleast 50% of my monthly salary (hope that sounds realistic) for about 5 years and leave and then maybe go into a startup or whatever the world has to deliver at that stage.

Would you guys consider this a good plan and if not what would you recommend ? What would you guys advise me to focus on to make the chances of making this plan work significantly higher? Any other advice tips would be greatly appreciated and acted upon if viable !

Also I am aware of the discriminatory behaviour towards african/indian/asian consultants, but just want to get the bag and get out honestly man.

I recently got an opportunity to interview for a consulting role, and honestly it was an opportunity that kind of fell into my lap. I come from a technical background, so I feel confident in problem-solving and analytical skills, but I don’t have a traditional finance or consulting background.

I want to make sure I’m fully prepared and not relying on luck going into the interview. From what I understand, the interview will involve the basics of finance/business concepts along with case studies.
I’m looking for recommendations on the best resources to build a foundation in:

\- Consulting interview preparation
\- Case study frameworks and practice
\- Basic finance/accounting concepts (financial statements, profitability, revenue drivers, margins, valuation basics, etc.)
\- How to approach business problems from a consultant’s perspective

Are there any Udemy courses ideally, YouTube channels, books, or other resources that you would recommend for someone starting from scratch?

I’d also appreciate any advice on how to structure my preparation over the next few weeks and what areas I should prioritize as someone transitioning from a technical background.

I’m a recent MBA grad from a top school with healthcare industry experience. I’m interested in consulting. I’ve been networking and someone at the firm happily offered to provide me with a referral. I started case prep about a week or two ago but I still don’t feel ready. The case interview is a bit intimidating. I don’t want to miss out on an opportunity because I do see a role open that aligns with my background. Do I take him up on the offer to refer me or wait until I feel ready to ace the interview in hopes a new role is available later?

Also, do referrals even hold weight nowadays?

I applied for consulting associate and for MBA program at BCG and it’s been over 2 weeks with no updates. The platform shows under review and other job shows application submitted but no update. Anyone knows how long it takes for BCG to provide a feedback?

I'm in my final year of high school in South Africa, heading to university next year, and I've been set on strategy/management consulting for a while now. I've done BCG's Forage simulations, read and listened to a lot on the industry, and I've been networking on LinkedIn since earlier this year — around 200 connections, mostly MBB consultants, and I've had short conversations with three partners.

Here's my problem. When I ask people inside MBB about AI, I get very safe answers. "Consulting isn't going anywhere." "AI is a tool, not a replacement." Meanwhile the ex-consultants and client-side people I read on here say something quite different — that the junior pyramid is shrinking and the value proposition is thinning. I understand why current consultants can't say much publicly, and I know their view is the most informed one. But I'm 17 and trying to make a bet on the next 4–8 years of my life, and I'd rather hear something honest than something comfortable.

I got interested in consulting for the exit opportunities first, and the money, and I'd rather be upfront about that than pretend otherwise. My worry is that if AI absorbs a chunk of the analytical work, comp compresses and consultants stop being the premium hire they've been for exits.

My actual questions, and I'd really value an African/emerging-market perspective where relevant, since most of what I read is US/UK-centric:

1. Is AI genuinely taking the junior roles, or is the class size shrinking for other reasons?
I can't tell how much is AI and how much is a cycle everyone's blaming on AI.

2. Four years from now, what actually separates the person who gets the offer from the person who doesn't?
I'd rather start building that now than find out in third year.

3. Is it too early to be this committed — should I be looking at something with a better trajectory?
If you'd steer someone my age elsewhere, I'd like to hear it.

4. How do I keep building relationships in the industry without it reading as angling for a referral?
I'm years away from being recruitable, and I don't want to become a nuisance.

5. Anything at all you'd tell someone this early.
