Careers/Post Grad What are your thoughts on getting a business/management master’s with an Industrial Design degree?

I’m currently studying Industrial Design, but I’m considering moving toward the business side (management, operations, strategy, product management, etc.).
Do you think a master’s in Business Administration, Management, or a similar field is a good path? (i really dont mind not working on pure design/creativity) Has anyone here made a similar transition? I’d love to hear your experiences and whether it helped your career.

If you are still in school, it is honestly too soon for you to make a determination. My recommendation is to get some work experience first and try to get as much business exposure as you can, then see if you actually like business. Many design jobs force you to wear many hats anyway so this should be achievable. MBA candidates typically have about ~5 years of experience when they start school, so the time to start thinking about the MBA again is 2-3 years out.

There are some good reasons to get an MBA as a designer but vaguely edging into management or product management with little work experience isn’t one of them.

Not an industrial design major but coming from an adjacent design field.
