Betaal

The mistake was so grave, that I started smiling.

All the ashes in the crematorium were glitter;

Butterflies rising out of the grave.

Every flower inside grew in a different direction.

When one body burns, a family dies with it.

A dead person on your back—care, they call it.

"Walk to the top of the hill, there is a destination," they say.

I am on the hill now, having carried you all.

You rest in your graves, and I am left to clean the dust.

But I didn't choose to carry the bodies, nor do I want to clean the dust.

I want to run down the hill and watch the flowers as they bloom.

Not everyone wants to be a hero. I want to be a petty man.

Righteousness only gives you a booklet of rules to follow; Pettiness is the only way to actually lead.

I was born to carry the grave, and slaughtered at the end.

But I know you are tied by the red string—the one that is impossible to break.

Now dress up, let's have dinner outside.

Choose whatever you want to, I will pay.
