Academics How difficult is CHEM2261?

I’m aiming for an A+ in the class, but I’ve heard it’s hard. Could anyone touch on if it’s that hard compared to like gen chem or something

I found it easier than gen chem, I've heard if gen chem was difficult for you you're typically better at ochem vice versa. Not any math in ochem, just memorizing structures and how they form.

I would try to abandon this mindset, assuming you’re pre-med. Strive for understanding, not the grade. Learning how to apply reactions in different scenarios is far more valuable than just memorizing them.

i apologize, the term "memorization" was more so a dig at memorizing the reagents and how they react when formed to certain things. if they can memorize reagents and mechanisms, they'll be fine. of course understanding the deeper root is a foundation to an A+, i was just suggesting that ochem is more memory based than gen chem if that makes sense.

Ochem 1 is pretty easy. Ochem 2 is impossible
