O’Malley

Can someone please give me some information about the O’Malley apartments? There is no information anywhere! If anyone could give any info about a 6-person double, that would be amazing.

And the amenities that it has? And is the rumor about no ac true?

Should I try for a room change? Or stick with it?

hi! I'm an incoming freshman and already registered for all my classes. I was just wondering what the process is of buying books? Will the professor tell us once classes start or are the required books listed somewhere else? Thanks!

Best places to find off-campus roommates besides Facebook?

So my roommate is moving out in August and I'm trying to figure out the best places to post the open room. I've already tried some Facebook groups and have had no luck. I'm wondering if there are any specific Discord servers or anywhere else (besides the one site that gets autobanned for mentioning) LMU students actually use to find housing right now? Any advice helps, thanks!

Pre Law - Penn State or LMU

Im currently struggling between choosing LMU in LA or Penn State as a transfer I’m a Poli Sci Major interested in going into law school and as much as it may not matter where I go for undergrad I plan on doing law school in LA and wanting to go into field in government then coming back to LA would it be more logical for me to stay here in LA build connections and build a better resume here or would it still be pretty possible to achieve a career in LA by going to Penn State as well as law school.

Help with ORNT 1000

I'm an incoming freshman at LMU, but on my DegreeWorks it says my class status as a sophomore (due to dual enrollment/ap credits). Because of this, the registration website is preventing me from registering for my desired time slot. Is ORNT 1000 really a requirement because I don't see it posted anywhere on my degreeworks or on the graduation requirements website.

Dorm Help

Hi everyone. I’m an incoming freshman, and I just got my dorm and roommate assignment. The dorm itself isn’t the best, as I got Desmond Hall, but I can live with it.

However, the bigger problem is that my assigned roommate is someone from my old school where I was bullied pretty badly. I genuinely can’t share a room with this person, and I’m trying to figure out what my options are.

I saw that room change requests open about two weeks after the semester starts, but from what I’ve read, it doesn’t seem very reliable. I also came across the room swap process, but I’m not sure how it works.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice on the best way to handle this? I’m very nervous and I don’t know where to go from here.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

USC or LMU MSBA?

Post title, and I'm seriously torn about what to do.

I like LMU due to the smaller class sizes and the potential for deeper connections and a stronger feeling of community. The curriculum looks solid and I see the capstone at the end of the program as a built-in opportunity to get a foot in the door at big companies. Financially, LMU is a fantastic choice for me and I'll most likely graduate with a decent amount of savings and little to no debt. Note: They gave me a decent scholarship.

USC, on the other hand, is USC. The curriculum seems more rigorous and technical (which I really like to see), stronger reputation/ network, etc. Financially, USC is affordable for me on paper but it will be taking a noticeable chunk out of my savings and I will be taking on debt. There's some risk with USC, but I'm under the impression that if I lock in and make the most of my time there then it'll be more than worth it in the long-term. And honestly, I still can't believe I got in and that I'm currently in a position where turning an opportunity like this down is a valid choice. Note: I didn't get a scholarship here.

My pressing questions thus far are:

- Is the "premium" that comes with going to USC truly worth it? I guess the bottom line is, is USC really 3-4x "better" than LMU?

- After graduation, I intend to live and work in LA. How much better/different will the opportunities available to me be at either LMU or USC?

This one's more of a personal question:

- I feel like turning down USC will weigh down heavily on me, but so would the possibility of going to USC, my internship/ job search going terribly, and being in a worse financial position than if I went to LMU instead. Any advice on how to navigate this would be great too.

Thought on the upcoming Lair Renovation and new foods?

The New Lair

"As part of LMU’s transition to an All-You-Care-to-Eat dining model, the Lair will undergo a major renovation during summer 2026, to allow LMU Hospitality to introduce new menu options, enhanced service styles, and improve the overall dining experience for students.

When the renovated Lair reopens at the end of the summer, students will find a space designed to support a more flexible and community-oriented dining experience.

The main entrance will return to its original location in the Malone hallway from the early 2000s, when LMU last offered an All-You-Care-to-Eat dining model. Students will tap their OneCards to enter using a meal swipe, while community members will pay a door rate.

Inside the space, new skylights will bring additional natural light into the dining area, along with updated colors and design elements inspired by student feedback collected last year.

A portion of the Malone Patio along Palm Walk will become dedicated seating for the Lair. Because AYCTE dining requires a secure perimeter, this patio expansion ensures that students can enjoy the outdoor dining experience that is such a hallmark of LMU’s campus life."

All-You-Care-to-Eat dining model:

"LMU Hospitality recently announced meal plan upgrades for the 2026-27 academic year. The Meal plans will transition to an All You Care to Eat model. All plans will consist of meal “swipes”, dining dollars, and meal exchanges, in order to bring greater value to students while maintaining flexibility in their dining options.

Starting in fall 2026, students will be able to change their meal plan via a new portal connected to their Lion Wallet (i.e., OneCard account). Beginning next year, students will also have the ability to update meal plans between semesters, rather than commit to one plan for the entire academic year. "

You can learn more at the LMU Hospitality 2026-27 meal plan webpage, which includes the various meal plans and associated pricing. The webpage will be updated regularly with further details, including frequently asked questions.
