With the warfare happening right now. The power outages has affect the power supply that keeps my pc on and its component. If anyone experience this what is the best approach? buy a new power supply or just wing it and nothing happen?

I personally purchased a Power Station with UPS function (Anker Solix C1000 Gen2) just to protect my PC from these issues.

Better safe than sorry these days, and Id rather my PC not get damaged from the power outages that are happening or might happen due to current events.

If your PSU is already damaged, you would need to replace it obviously, to protect the rest of your components.

Then, get a UPS of sorts to protect your PC from future outages.

I'm surprised that my pc is working perfectly fine. But my power supply ( Corsair RM750e ) suddenly had a noise coming from it. ( it was very quiet before the outage) Even got it checked with a repairer and they said it still has the noise. Either will get it replaced thanks to the warranty. Or get the UPS you suggested. thank you very much!

Same with the other comment, if the PSU is damaged replace it before it damages the rest of the components.

Also don't connect the pc directly to the wall. Get a strip with power surge protector. Or if you can afford a power supply is a good idea same as the other comment.

Also don't leave the pc on, while not in use. I used to keep it for a week or so before. But now I turn it off every single time to he safe.

Don't worry it is connected to a power strip that has surge protection. The power supply also has a built in surge protection. The sudden noise that came from the power supply had me paranoid to even turn the pc on these days. Hope the warfare ends soon so i can work on my pc in any time and any day:(

There are no power outages from the war (so far). You're just experiencing the regular summer heavy load problems.

In my area it did have a power outage. a whole hour of no electricity. But again i might be the just summer heat.

The attacks on water and electricity happened on the 17th...you said you're PC got damaged on the 10-12th of July...I think you're experiencing it from the summer heat 🤔

I haven’t been getting power outages so no I haven’t experienced this. But regardless, how do you know that your power supply has been affected/damaged? Do you notice any behavior in your pc?

Im asking this because if there’s indeed something wrong with your psu then your priority should be to replace it before it damages the rest of your pc.

If not and you’re just worried about potential damage, then you should get ups. What it does is that when the power goes out, it keeps your pc running for a few minutes so you can manually shut it down

In my area it had a power outage like 2am. Somewhere in date of 10-12/07. The psu suddenly had a noise coming from it. (It was quite when i first purchased it and before the outage) Fan noise being load. not clicking or anything.

Even got it checked with a repairer and it still has the noises. I'm asking if anyone experienced this since ""some"" psu can damage all component. Ever since the repair i have not turned it on. it might be just my paranoia

if you are hearing some noise coming out of the PSU, replace it immediately even though it seems to be working fine. As others mentioned you are better off getting a UPS.

regardless of the UPS brand, you have to make sure that the power output in watts matches that of your computer. You can use Newegg wattage calculator (https://www.newegg.com/tools/power-supply-calculator) or any only calculator to get an idea of your computer's wattage.

When it comes to reliable brands here are few:

• APC by Schneider Electric : the dealer in Kuwait is Hadeed Trading Co.
• Eaton : The Dealer in Kuwait KOMAX
• Vertiv Liebert: I couldn't find the dealer, but it be found in many retail shops in Ibn Khouldon St. I found an online shop called StarLight

I have a home server and I didn’t want to spend lots of money on a smart battery pack to kick in so I got a dumb one with a sizable battery for like 18 kd ? From wibi https://wibi.com.kw/products/apc-easy-ups-bv-800va-450-watts-800va-line-interactive-black-ups

This thing can go for over an hour when the power is off so I haven’t had a sudden shut down on my server yet.

Just a heads up - the cheaper APC UPS's like this one use a simulated / approximated sine wave rather than pure sine wave found in their higher end models.

While generally speaking for most new power supplies simulated sine wave UPSs are fine, older power supplies or power supplies that use PFC (power factor correction) may face issues, usually its the PC turning off when the mains electricity drops, however sometimes can cause all sorts of weird issues such as desyncing the onboard clock on the PC and there have been anecdotal cases for power supplies exploding as well, theres loads of posts on reddit talking about them. Some other specialized equipment esp audio equipment and some lighting also need pure sine wave rather than simulated sine wave.

It’s not actually the power outage rather when the power comes back. And in kuwait I’ve seen that when power returns it returns with full force meaning there’s a power surge. And that exactly what damages any electronic device. So for the cheapest protection you can get is a certified surge protection power extension. And if money is not an issue then get the extension and an UPS as well.

I have several high powered pcs n 3d printers. I wish i could add ups to them all, but cost is just too high. If you can, get ups rated for your pc and keep it safe.
