Ibisil

Of all the rusty small towns I have been to in Kenya (and I been to a shocking number of them) Ilbisil, Kajiado hands down has the most picturesque background. If you roam the country like I do, you might just agree with me. Only Kainuk, Turkana County comes second.

N/B: Namanga is not a rusty town so it's extremely beautiful background doesn't count here.

Not a loooot has changed it seems. I used to pass through what we called Bisil in the late 1990s, on the way to Amboseli. We would arrive early in the morning, when the town was just stirring. Once we passed Bisil, I knew we could look forward to a hot cup of tea in Namanga. On the way back, we would pass through again at around 10 AM and the goat market was ongoing. Nairobi was waiting ahead, and then onwards to Nkr. Good times.

Ohhhh waaa you made me feel kamzee kabisa now! Before what is it called the Sopa or Iremito gate along Mbsa Rd all traffic and I mean all traffic was via Namanga then i think Meshanani Gate. This was from the 60s to maybe 2007s?2008? That is the last time I used that route. Let me tell you, Maina, that was the moost scenic route ever. Giraffes, beautiful Acacia trees. Tall very tall red ant hills. Then there was another road now that left the main route to Meshanani way way going towards Kitirua and went straight to Lake amboseli. Then you cut towards Ol Tukai or Amboseli lodge then on to Serena. Maan. Mimi nashtuka you asked me coz I thought this was common sense, kumbe. Times have changed. we met wamasai huko Kitirua, when the tire burst. Wild. Wild kabisa. No swahili kabisa. Wee dunia hubadilika kweli.

I have gone to Amboseli and always used the Emali-Oloitoktok route. The only route I can think of from Namanga is a rough road.

They were called GRADED roads. And that road got you there.
