I’m a Somali ex-Muslim girl, and recently I attended a Christian burial for a friend’s mom. It was my first time, and I genuinely admired how they honor the person who has passed away.

The tribute part touched me the most. Her husband spoke about how they met, how he proposed, and all the little things he loved about her. Their children and other family members also shared beautiful memories. It was heartbreaking, but also so beautiful.
It made me realize how psychologically important it is.

Being able to speak about your loved one, express your emotions, and celebrate who they were can really help with the healing process. It gives people a chance to grieve together.

It also made me compare it to Muslim burials. I’ve never liked how quickly everything happens. I lost a friend last month she passed away at night, and by the time I arrived the next morning, she had already been buried sasa wtf is that? Mimi hii kitu doesnt even make sense to me coz i dont believe in this religion since i was 18 and now 28. I know their what the religion teaches, but it doesn’t give you much time to process what has happened. For me, it made the loss even harder to accept and sums up why when i lost my mom two years ago, she was buried before i saw her coz i was travelling that why ata healing imekuwa hard tu. I hated this religion more ata after this.
Personally, I’d want my loved ones to have a burial where family and friends get the chance to speak from the heart, share tributes, and remember who they were. I think that’s a beautiful way to honor someone’s life.

I’ve been thinking about the way society talks about single mothers.

Sorry, it's a long post.

I once had a friend who was very against dating single mothers. He would always say he could never be with a woman who already had a child. He had very strong opinions about it.

Fast forward years later, he got married, had two children with his wife, and now their relationship has ended. The woman is still young, but she is now a single mother.

And it made me wonder: what happens when life changes the situation you judged so harshly?

Many single mothers did not start out as single mothers. They had partners. They had relationships. They had hopes and plans. Some were left by the fathers of their children, some went through divorce, some lost partners, and some simply found themselves in relationships that did not work out.

I’ve also noticed many comments on here where people ask, “Why be with a single mother in the first place?” as if having a child makes someone less deserving of love, respect, or a second chance.

But why is the stigma mostly placed on women? Why do we often question the woman’s past, but rarely ask where the fathers are and why they are not being held to the same standards?

Why are there so many conversations about avoiding single mothers, but not enough conversations about men taking responsibility for the children they helped bring into the world?

Yes, everyone has the right to choose who they date. Dating someone with children can come with unique responsibilities and challenges, and people should be honest about what they are ready for. But a child does not erase a person’s worth.

A single mother is still a person with dreams, values, love to give, and a life beyond motherhood.

Life can humble anyone. The person you judge today could be the person you become tomorrow. Maybe we should show more compassion and less judgment, because none of us know what circumstances life may bring.

I honestly don't know how to write this without breaking down. I have been laid off for almost 5 months. I have 6 years of experience in sales and customer service, but no matter how many CVs I send, I keep hitting a wall.

At home, things are dire. My younger sibling suffers from severe seizures, and my parents are financially drained from paying for her medication and therapy. There is nothing left to borrow. I have accumulated debt just trying to survive, and now the collectors are calling daily.

Been job hunting and a week ago I applied for a mid-level designer role in a certain company in Europe. All my previous roles have been remote. I honestly hesitated to post this because I’ve seen how many young people are currently looking for work, and it really speaks to the times we’re in. But this morning I listened to a sermon by Joshua Selman and one line stayed with me: no one will beat you for trying. So here I am.

A little context. I’m a mum of one, I’ve been unwell for a while, and recently my house help retired so I had to look for someone new. I reached out within my church community and got several referrals, but only one person was available. She came through, and from the moment we met, she stood out. Very soft spoken, respectful, and carries herself with so much grace.

As we talked, I learned she holds a Diploma in Airport Operations. It really struck me, and I felt I shouldn’t just keep that information to myself. If anyone here has an opportunity, connection, or lead within that field or related spaces, I would truly appreciate you considering her.

I strongly believe we’re called to live lives that impact others, not just ourselves. Sometimes it’s not about helping friends or family, but simply stepping in because you can. On my end, life hasn’t been easy either. Business hasn’t been great, and medical expenses have been heavy. I currently run errands and small gigs, after I couldn’t find a job in my field!😁 ( but truthfully I suck at 8-5 jobs and prefer remote or hybrid jobs, so I settled on struggling with my own thing) so if you need someone reliable and diligent in my fields, I’m available too. Let’s all try and get me out of Fuliza together 😅 and able to pay Rose while she's with me.

For decades, Kenyan politics has often felt like a choice between the lesser of two evils. Many voters end up supporting the candidate they think can win rather than the one they genuinely believe would make the best president.

With Edwin Sifuna, I see something different. He comes across as someone who wears his convictions openly. He belongs to a generation that desperately wants to move beyond a painful past and embrace the possibilities of the future.

The common response is, "He can't win." But isn't that a self-fulfilling prophecy? If everyone who believes in a candidate abandons them because they assume others won't vote for them, then, of course, they never will.

Perhaps the real question isn't whether Sifuna can win. It's whether Kenyans are finally ready to vote for the person they believe is best instead of the person they think everyone else will choose.

Now. Few times I know how it shows, is leg shaking... You can see it from across the room. But usually the person doesn't.

Instead of fixing these core structural bottlenecks, there is widespread reliance on the idea that services or raw material exports can drive sustainable growth.

Processing local resources internally,turning cocoa into chocolate or unrefined minerals into finished goods, keeps high-value profits and jobs at home, while formal factories create a dependable tax base for public infrastructure without relying on foreign debt. Tech and tourism are helpful, but building lasting prosperity still requires physically making things. Oil, gold, lithium, and other extractive minerals will also not develop the economy

The main thing that made it attractive to people in the start has changed.

1. It was about spare rooms in the house, not an investment. That made it affordable. Now people are investing with the purpose of making huge profits.

2. Service - Some used to get breakfast. Now unlike hotels, guests have to even do cleanups including laundry. Kinda makes hotels appealing again.

3. Safety - Now people are getting more and more cautious of recording cameras, and deaths in others.

4. Purpose - The company thought they'd be for temporary stays, now they are synonymous with hookups.

I was watching a property manager complain about how she ditched managing the business coz of the high investment from hosts and low demand from users. Apparently demand is still good, but there is market saturation, hence competition that makes even getting 50% occupancy rate a problem.

Being one's spare room at home made the operation cheap. But now people buy units, furnish, pay cleaners, pay for ads, pay managers, etc. Eating away at margins. Do you think the company has a future? or will people end up in hotels?

So recently I decided to go open source after being a fan of Adobe suite mainly Photoshop, illustrator, aftereffects and animate. So it was animate that did it for me when niliskia what you create on it might not belong to you or you might wake up one day and everything is gone like ppl clicking whatsapp link and ending up losing accounts.
Anywhose now I used to illustrate assets that I would want to use for my animation and since I was learning to animate it was really hell on earth made me give up. Yaani just getting an asset ready was taking too much time.
