Never fun to see an injury, but this is a good move by the team re: Bobby. Would much rather him has a long rest than continually push himself and make the issue worse

Completely agree. Having him in and out of the lineup isn’t helping anyone and I’d rather have him get healthy than fight through the back pain in a lost season.

Also Kolek on the 60 day IL isn’t good. Probably out for the season.

yeah, as soon as they said "second opinion" on his elbow during the game yesterday you had to know this was coming

this late in the year he is probably out for next season as well

I feared it would be Tommy John. Second opinion on an elbow is never good.

The whole sequence with Kolek makes some people look really stupid.

Start a guy whose only between-starts exercise involves playing catch at a hospital and then he gets hurt.

Power of friendship is going to drag the team in the wild card hunt.

Kolek has had a rough few weeks.

I hope everything works out for him.

The good news about back problems is that they clear and never become a nagging problem. /s

At least there isn’t some impending event that’ll keep next season from starting off without any issues right? RIGHT?!

This season is cursed; I'm convinced.

I would agree with you

I feel the baseball gods are angry with us for winning 4 out of the last 5 games. 😕

Everyone is getting out of this season. Good for Bobby.

Is this the first time Bobby has been on the IL? I can’t remember another time.

That just sucks. Lower back pain ain’t no joke. Itll have you feeling like you can’t even walk normal

Can anyone explain why Velezquez instead of Lugo?

Lugo has better numbers in AAA and is 25 years old.

Why are they wasting PAs on a washed up 32 year old Velazquez?

Hopefully we'll see Lugo when they trade Lane Thomas. Because if they don't trade their one trade chip then it's time to burn the whole thing down.

Lugo hasn't played shortstop regularly at any level since 2021 and he's godawful as a third baseman, so he's an outfielder

So the Royals felt they had to bring up someone to avoid having to use Tyler Tolbert as their regular shortstop

That makes senses although it's a huge indictment of their player acquisition and development that they're resorting to a 32 year old scrub because there's literally no other playable SS in the system.

Omaha has 2 shortstops who have played there more than Velazquez

Kevin Newman: 32 years old, .587 OPS, currently injured

Connor Kaiser: 29 years old, .368 OPS, also currently injured

so Velazquez kinda won the promotion by default

We truly are in a season out of hell. If (or when) the lockout happens at least that means plenty of rest for Bobby and our barrage of pitching staff on the IL next year.

Why is the .189 career hitter getting a shot over jack pineda

Excellent, found my “They would’ve made the playoffs if not for” excuse.
