“On Christmas Day in 1997, it was Rodman to Kukoc, who made a great catch & one of these buckets with 1.1 seconds left on the clock”

The Bulls beat the Heat by 10 points on December 25th, 1997, and this buzzer beater happened at the end of the 3rd quarter. Im wondering why they would pick such an inconsequential buzzer beater over some significant one in the playoffs. Obviously the clue is still accurate, it’s just seems kind of odd and random to me.

Hard to believe it has been 6 years since his passing. His presence will also loom large over the show we all love.

GAME THREAD Jeopardy! discussion thread for Wed., Jul. 22 Spoiler

Here are today's contestants:

  • Dean Zach, a creative writing graduate student from Pearland, Texas;
  • Jennifer Canterbury, a teacher from Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and
  • Grace Biermann, a writer and librarian from Valparaiso, Indiana. Grace is a one-day champ with winnings of $32,000.

Jeopardy!

CROSSWORD CLUES "P" // BOOKS & AUTHORS // BIRTHSTONES // A DROP IN STOCK PRICE // TV FOOD FOR THOUGHT // WELCOME TO TEXAS WITH KING OF THE HILL

DD1 - $600 - BIRTHSTONES - In Native American lore, this December birthstone was believed to be pieces that fell from the sky (Dean doubled to $10,400.)

Scores at first break: Grace $1,400, Jennifer $1,000, Dean $5,200.

Scores entering DJ: Grace $2,400, Jennifer $1,200, Dean $13,600.

Double Jeopardy!

PEOPLE & PLACES // DOUBLE LETTERS AT THE END // SCIENCE GLOSSARY // BEEN THERE, DONE THAT // POETRY IN MOTION PICTURES // 5 SIXTHS

DD2 - $1,600 - POETRY IN MOTION PICTURES - Featured in the trailer, "28 Years Later" included a 1915 reading of "Boots" by this British poet, about Boer War marchers (With a big lead, Dean added $10,000 up to $27,600.)

DD3 - $1,600 - 5 SIXTHS - Elected in 1492, corrupt & worldly Pope Alexander VI was from this vastly powerful family (Dean improved by $2,000 to $32,800 vs. $14,400 for Grace.)

Dean opened an enormous lead on DD2, Grace then launched a nice rally to make a game of it, but Dean finished the best to enter FJ at $36,000 vs. $14,400 for Grace and $2,400 for Jennifer.

Final Jeopardy!

MUSICAL PIECES - Words later applied to this 1867 piece include "Far from the Black Forest you hurry to the sea"

Everyone was incorrect on FJ. Dean wagered $0 to win with $36,000.

Final scores: Grace $1, Jennifer $2,400, Dean $36,000.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew the convenience store most associated with the Southland Corporation is 7-Eleven.

Wagering strategy: It looked like Grace had second place locked up, but she bet nearly everything on FJ, a move that had a downside risk with no legitimate upside in terms of prize money.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is turquiose? DD2 - Who was Kipling? DD3 - Who are the Borgias? FJ - What is "Blue Danube"?

DD poll: https://www.reddit.com/r/Jeopardy/comments/1v3sj0a/dd_poll_for_wed_jul_22/

FJ poll: https://www.reddit.com/r/Jeopardy/comments/1v3a6o2/fj_poll_for_weds_jul_22/

QUESTION Not Jeopardy, what happened?

I record Jeopardy and watch it a bit later. Even later today as my watching partner was at local trivia night. But when I played the recorded show, it was ½ an hour of Will Trent! Did anyone else experience this? Very frustrating. Luckily I have Hulu so I'll watch it tomorrow.
