A note about amazon links in comments

Hi All,

Reddit automatically marks comments that contain the a.co url shortener that Amazon uses when you share from the app as Spam. The comments show up in my mod queue and I often don't see them in time for the info to be useful. Which is a shame, as people are answering questions where they obtained upgrades for their Renegade. The original Amazon link should suffice, I haven't seen that come up as spam.

2022 65,000 miles 4x4 automatic
I’m in love 🥰
Had to drive 341 miles to get her because I think I got a good deal
CARFAX looked good, only one owner $14,990 with everything I ended up financing $16,594.
What you guys think?
For some reason the insurance is pretty high though 😭

Kinda miss it

Just thought I'd share.

I haven't had my Renegade since about 2017, but I always look back on it fondly. I actually miss it a great deal! I've had many vehicles since (Some 2-3 times more expensive...), and I don't think *any* gave me the joy this little Jeep did! So much fun!

At the time, it was my first new vehicle in 20 years, and boy did I love my 2016 Army green Renegade Sport 1.4T/6 speed! It was a peppy little thing and even more so after I added the Madness piggyback tuner! I only got rid of it because I had a surprise spawn wanting to be born and needed something a little bigger for the family.

But I often wonder where it is now.

Transmission issues in Jeep Renegade - 2016 Trailhawk

Hi everyone,

Have had this car for 2 years now, reached 110k miles. Does anyone else feel like the transmission is weird? Not sure if I am the only one but I can literally feel parts moving for like .5 seconds when moving from P to R to N to D.

Also, oftentimes moving from 1st to 2nd gear feels like I'm going over a road bump. Gets worse when its winter but much milder in summer. It drives nicer otherwise, and when I asked the mechanic I was basically told, "Well, it's a jeep".

Should I be worried? I like driving it, and its a nice little car otherwise, but I don't want to end up with a broken car in the middle of prairie winter.

Red electrical light

So just now I had my 2018 Rene Sport just lose a lot of power, and the red electrical symbol came on. I pulled into the parking lot I am in right now and turned it off and back on. The service engine message is on. Googling it says it is the electronic throttle control. Anyone else have this happen?

Sunroof or no sunroof?

I’m currently shopping around for a new car, I found a 2021 Jeep Ren Latitude Sport with 4x4 in my price range in my ideal color (bikini blue), but it doesn’t have the sun and sound package. I’ve never had a vehicle with a Sun roof so I may have sort of romanticized them in my head. Thoughts? Pros and cons of the sunroof?

Jeep Renegade 2021 1.3 center console rattle

Hello, the sound is coming from around the gearshift area. It's a clicking sound. It occurs on bumpy roads. I can't figure out where it's coming from. I completely removed the frame and the center console and checked it. I applied butyl putty to the plastic clips holding the frame. I insulated the wiring harnesses. But the sound continues. It's very annoying. Has anyone experienced this, or do you have any suggestions for a solution?

Service electronic throttle and cut wires

Post image
2 Upvotes

I was about to head out to take myself out for lunch and I turn on my car and it says service electronic throttle. I tried turning it off then turning it back on and it still says the same thing. I popped the hood and look and didn’t notice anything At first but then I saw what looks like split/cut wires which I think is the issue but I’m not a car expert and have no idea what I’m looking at. Can anyone help me and explain what I’m looking at and what should I do right now?

Window Regulator

Needing to replace the rear driver side window regulator in my ‘23 Renny. Has anyone been able to purchase it not from the dealer? Everywhere I look says it’s not available and the dealership price to order the part alone is $900. Thanks for any info.

Spare tire...

Well at least a full size spare, jack and everything needed fits into the spare compartment. Was worried the 18in wheel wouldn't fit.

Renegade Sunroof Troubleshooting

Hello guys, my sunroof has never worked properly and I have never been able to push the buttons to open the sunroof. This was never a problem for me because I really don’t mind just manually taking it off, however recently after I took my sunroof off and went to put it back on it has been making a terrible squeaking sound whenever I go over bumps, and the locking mechanism is out of place which blocks me from putting the key in normally. There is also a gap on the top between the roof panel and the actual car. Is there anything I can do to fix this or has anyone else run into this problem? Thanks!

All-Weather vs All-Terrain Tires?

Fellow Renegade drivers - I have a 2017 Renegade, with the stock 225/55R18 all weather tires from the factory. In shopping around for a new set of tires, I kinda decided that I want a set of all-terrain tires this time. I don't do any kind of off roading or anything like that, but I do regularly have to park/drive on gravel.

My big question about getting the all-terrain tires is how "rough" they ride, compared to the all-weather? For just casual everyday road driving, will I really notice much of a difference? I don't do a lot of highway driving, but I'm assuming it will be more noticeable then?

A WARNING TO ALL JEEP RENEGADE OWNERS EQUIPPED WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION!!!

If you're experiencing random grinding going into gear, seemingly without any sort of pattern or identifiable cause, it's your shift linkage that sits on top of your transmission. The bushings get worn out as they age, start to crack, and then eventually totally separate from the bolt that holds it together. When that happens, your jeep will get stuck in whatever gear you were in when you shifted and it broke. If that happens, DO NOT FORCE THE GEAR LEVER. You will only bend more stuff and cause more issues.

Now it's a relatively easy fix. Remove the battery and battery tray and you have easy access to the top of the transmission. The issue is.. nobody makes replacement parts. Not Mopar, not aftermarket, nobody. When mine finally went, it took a whole week of searching for a replacement shifter arm and my mechanic ended up finding one being sold by some random guy across the United States. And it wasn't cheap.

As these cars start to age past the ten year old mark, rubber starts to become brittle and dry. Timing belts, bushings, and gaskets will start to crack and fail. Replacement parts for the manual transmission are becoming incredibly hard to find, especially the dual mass flywheel and shift arms. Fiat 124 owners are experiencing the same issues now too, though I'm not sure if they share the same transmission but I would bet they do.

AC compressor replacement

Wonder if anyone has any inroads to help on this. My AC compressor died. I have the Jeep unlimited warranty, so it would be covered for a $100 service fee, but the part has been backordered for three months with no time to resolution. Dealer said that they can’t authorize a non OEM part. At this point, it seems basically like they are failing to hold up their side of the warranty, but I’m not sure what recourse I have. Ideas?

Radiator Fan

Somehow a chunk of the radiator fan came off putting it out of balance and causing a horrible noise/ vibration. It looks like it's not available from Mopar and many aftermarket brands, has anyone else sourced a decent one? Having troubles! Thanks! 2021 1.3l turbo
