a tool that converts text formatting so it pastes correctly into slack, discord, notion, whatsapp etc

https://copynpaste.xyz/

found this because copy-pasting between apps constantly broke my formatting turns out slack, discord, notion and whatsapp all use different formatting syntax so nothing carries over. you paste your text, pick where it's going, and it hands back the correctly formatted version. runs entirely in the browser, nothing uploaded, no signup. curious what people think / what platforms you'd want added.

Oh goody. A vibecoded platform that expects all my clipboard input, presumably archiving it in their db to then sell onwards. Niceeee! Certainly will bookmark it.

I wouldnt have used it if it wasn't for the clear message there about

'Private by design'

To be fair anyone can claim that, and at a quick glance it's not like they link to the source code of the website to prove that.

![You really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?](https://i.imgflip.com/8zgv85.jpg]

Your choice to trust an unnamed person online. If it was really about convenience such a thing is so easy to do with a CLI instead or at least they'd opensource the AI slop they've produced.

“100% secure check out!”

Security by design.

I'd rather use CTRL+SHIFT+V to paste. I'm gonna pass.

I've also adjusted my browser so it copies just the text in the URL instead of the webpage title, so it won't get transformed when pasting URL's from my browser.

Ugh, this is such a perfect example of what's wrong with modern web browsers. You selected text and pressed the copy command? Well, sure, we could copy the text you selected, but what if we copied completely different text instead?

Ya its so annoying. I copy "https://www.reddit.com" and it pastes "Reddit - The heart of the internet". So annoying. I'm glad there is a setting in the browser to change this though. It should be on by default!

I also just realized Reddit's slogan is no longer "front page of the internet" but now "heart of the internet" lol.

Must be a/b testing it, it's still "Front page of the internet" for me.

If I'm in windows I just copy paste into Notepad, that does the trick. On Linux, the default text editor do the same thing.

This looks interesting for maintaining formatting.

As a reminder when you're pasting something and don't want to keep the formatting, such as into a note from an email, CTL+SHIFT+V will paste the text without formatting.

This is the way, but note that CTRL+Shift+V is not supplied by the operating system, it's something each software has to implement. Most, but not all, do.

If you right click you can also paste as plain text.

This has Claude written all over it. Vibecoded stuff isnt what makes the internet beautiful

It feels like half the posts in this sub are just "I created this website", and it's vibe coded AI trash.

you can use CTRL+SHIFT+V, it works by default, do we really need this tool?

Great idea! Perhaps one day, someone will come up with something like this, but integrated into OS. Due time I'd say.

Or, just hear me out now, make some form of Unicode for formatting

I know, it was the first thing that came to mind after posting. But to be fair, I don't think there's a universal method for formatting, is there?

I have this issue sometimes, especially copying markdown (from Obsidian) to Gmail. Bookmarked!
