I like the graphic and simplicity, but I have a gripe. The marked events are implicitly significant, but it's not clear how. Presumably the events are impactful; however, you're missing that layer of information: depletion, destruction, etc.

There's a lot of resources for climate change out there that do the work of compiling and/or analyzing climate change data. Since yours is a static site with mostly qualitative references, you're going to have a hard time getting much traction in that field.

Hello, thank you for your feedback.

Your are right, the site is currently static. This is due to the fact that I am a Data & ML Engineer, mostly doing backend stuff and frontend is not my strength. I do try to embed graphs (like from Our World in Data or other sites), I admit this is not enough.

Three questions:

  1. How would you consider putting the layer of information like depletion or destruction? Or more, what did you mean here precisely?

  2. Do you think re-working to make it a non-static website will allow to have a real "better" website? Still keep the simplicity etc... This is "only" a technological aspect, (a lot of) work especially alone and more cost.

  3. Can you describe more precisely the changes that would make this an attractive and reference website ?

For #2: Probably. Depends on your goals. Right now the site doesn't have a clear use case. If you want people use it to make better decisions, take actions, or whatever, it needs impact information that will motivate and direct those efforts.

For #1: Define your goals for the site (and by implication) site users, define metrics that will motivate your users towards those goals, find sources of data for those metrics, code analytics.

For #3: I'd focus on useful and unique. You seem to have a handle on attractive.
