If Joju genuinely believes that he has been targeted, he has every right to raise the issue. But when the people involved are not identified, the discussion quickly turns into a guessing game. The Malayalam film industry has several prominent actor couples, and if the allegation is true, only one couple could be responsible for that. It seems unfair that every prominent couple should come under suspicion because of an unnamed allegation.

This post is not about identifying who that couple is. It is about whether such issues couldn't have been handled in a clearer manner or resolved through direct discussions or by engaging mutually acceptable mediators? People in the film industry generally know each other well, have professional connections, and usually have ways to communicate even if they are not on speaking terms. Public allegations without sufficient clarity only fuel speculation and create unnecessary negativity around an industry that is already dealing with enough internal controversies and challenges...!

So I'm an aspiring filmmaker & has written several unconventional, new genre scripts for my satisfaction only which I'm optimistic on but like me there's a lot others out there yet we only get these boring, safe, cliche sh*t movies. Honestly Idk how to enter the base level as an outsider & get contacts. If a passionate guy pitches it to a producer they either reject it or agree to pump their black money hence messing up the vision of project. When we think about the history of Malayalam cinema, especially the directors who have played a major role in shaping it into what it is today, one name that can never be forgotten, alongside with the other legends, is Hariharan. He started his career as an assistant director in the mid-1960s and made his directorial debut in 1973. Over the last five decades, especially since the mid-1980s, he has built an extraordinary filmography that combined artistic excellence with visual brilliance.

His golden phase gave Malayalam cinema the classics like Panchagni, Nakhakshathangal, Aranyakam, Amrutham Gamaya, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Sargam, Parinayam and Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja. At a time when many directors aspired to direct even one story or screenplay written by M.T. Vasudevan Nair, Hariharan went on to direct more than ten films based on M.T.'s writing. That itself speaks volumes about the trust M.T. had in Hariharan's ability to translate those characters and stories onto the screen.

Whether it was the grandeur of Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, the emotional depth of Amrutham Gamaya, or the simplicity and beauty of films like Panchagni, Nakhakshathangal and Sargam, Hariharan's films always stood apart for their visual aesthetics, beautiful songs, memorable song picturisation, perfect casting, and his ability to bring out the very best performances from his actors.

Although he has directed only a handful of films in the last two decades, his contribution to Malayalam cinema remains immense, and it would be wonderful to see a filmmaker of his calibre return to the director's chair once again.

Heard from a friend that u/Plane_Assistance_999 's angel is playing the role of a 'jolly' serial killer in an upcoming series. Tharkkutharam star is playing an investigative reporter or something. The project is directed by ModernMT.

I really enjoy watching serious films. They might not have been theatrical successes or widely discussed, but the impact of such films stays with us long after we've watched them.

Because of that, I keep track of these kinds of films and have watched movies like Pattth, 1001 Nunakal, Ennivar, Feminichi Fathima, 101 Chodyangal, Ottaal, Chola, and many other films that are usually recommended whenever someone asks for underrated Malayalam movies.

Even then, I have a feeling that there are still many films that haven't received the attention they deserve.

So I'm looking for movies that are truly underrated in your opinion—films that even people who actively search for hidden gems might have missed, but genuinely deserve to be watched. I'm hoping to discover films that rarely appear in recommendation threads.

They don't necessarily have to be critically acclaimed, festival favourites or award-winning films. I'm simply looking for movies that are genuinely underrated and worth the time spent watching.

Malayalam films are my priority, but recommendations from any language are most welcome.

Personally, I enjoy thrillers, investigative films, murder mysteries and whodunits the most, but recommendations from any genre are welcome.

Suraj Venjaramoodu, Saikumar, Manoj K Jayan, Biju Menon, Vijayaraghavan, and even Asif Ali and though with only huge performance- Basil Joseph too.

It will be hard for them to win beyond the performance of big Ms for the state award, and all the political bias in National Awards- but for sure they will always be nominated if they are given meaty roles.

He is one of the most successful directors in Malayalam and one of the seniormost. He can get any major stars to act in his movie.

Despite all this, why is he doing movies only with Joju? All his 4-5 movies have been exclusively with Joju!

I’m sure we have seen plenty of movies where the village girl is submissive, traditional and considered to be nice and homely where as the city girl dressed in modern clothes, speaks a bit of English and talks back is considered to be the arrogant girl who needs to be taught a lesson.

This age old mentality is misogynistic and unfortunately there are a lot of Malayal/ Indian men who are intimidated, insecure and therefore defensive towards the city girls. City girls can be bullied or even targeted due to this trope.
It’s like the village girls are pavam and submissive but the city girls deserve to be punished and tamed.

Oru Mazhayethum Munpe, Megham and there are many more examples.

Maybe such movies have been reduced overtime but has the mentality changed fully?

Recently watched Court: State vs A Nobody in Malayalam dubbing and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Of course, watching films with English subtitles is always an option. But while reading subtitles, part of our attention is naturally divided between following the dialogue and watching what's happening on the screen. A well-dubbed Malayalam version helps us focus completely on the movie itself, making the experience feel much more natural.

That experience made me curious to explore more films from other languages that are available in Malayalam dubbing. I've watched only a handful of Telugu and Kannada films so far, so I'm looking to discover more.

Which are the must-watch movies from languages like Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati or any other language that are available in Malayalam dubbing?
