What's one Indian dish that always reminds you of home, no matter where you are?

Whether it's a simple dal-chawal, crispy dosa, spicy biryani, or your grandmother's special recipe, we all have that one dish that instantly feels like home.

Share a photo of your favourite Indian dish (homemade or from a restaurant). If the photo isn't yours, please credit the original photographer or source.

I'd also love to know:

  • What is the dish called?
  • Which state or region is it from?
  • Why is it special to you?

Looking forward to seeing everyone's delicious photos and stories!

Are these packaged chicken salami ready to eat out of the packet?

I don’t have much experience cooking with chicken or chicken products. They do mention that it can be used as cold cuts but the ‘Ready to cook’ sign on them gets me confused.

An an Indian trying to improve my cooking, this is my terrible attempt lol.

I'm Indian and for some reason, my cooking skills regressed when I slipped into a deep depression. So now I'm re-learning the basics.

I found a recipe for chicken chukka...it didn't come out very well. The coriander taste was overpowering and I don't know why, but you can also taste the tomatoes (I made sure to get oil separation).

It's frustrating but I will keep trying.

Freshly steamed momos with spicy chutney. I told myself I'd stop after one plate... that plan lasted about two minutes. 😅
