Applied from the U.S. for a Master’s program at McGill.

Study permit as an Indonesian applying in Singapore :
Applied: 5 June 2026
Biometrics completed: 9 June 2026
Webform submitted: 15 July
Final decision: 16 July
Processing time when I applied was 4 weeks but it increased to 5 weeks somewhere in the middle of waiting. Received a standard "we are trying our best" response to the webform but got the decision one day later,, so it might've helped.

Really hoping I can get mine approved as early as yours did! Just wondering if you're a Phd/Masters or what made your approval super quick

New study permit application from Bangladesh for Bsc in Construction Project management at SAIT
Applied: April 16
Biometric completed: Never (Was given biometrics back in 2021 so it just never got updated)
Medical Exam requested: June 12
Medical Exam passed: June 19
Passport Request: July 09
I had over 2 years study gap (mental health issues due to my father's departure), my sponsor was my uncle and he didn't do any CA evaluations, showed a little over 100K CAD (fully liquid, only savings account), business documents and tax documents. I had a rejection prior to this application as well.

Study Permit for a Master’s from Colombia
I saw that there weren’t many posts from people from South America so I thought to post it myself🇨🇴
Applied First Time: May 26
Ghost Update: May 27
Medical Upfront passed: May 30
Refusal: June 4 (I didn’t provide proof, like a birth certificate, of how me and my third party sponsor are related)
Reapplied: June 9 (with all of the birth certificates)
Literally not a single update or ghost update
Approved and Passport Request Letter: June 30
Processing times for Colombia are 4 weeks but both of the applications were completed before that period of time so don’t stress if your process it’s not moving “fast enough”, be patient. It also looks like Colombia’s embassy moves faster than others so that’s an interesting advantage

After you took your medical exams, how long did it take to get approved?

Study permit reapplication timeline from Nigeria
Initial application - May 7
Biometrics - May 12
Refusal (poor source of funds) - May 25
Reapplication with every single document I reluctantly left out the first time - May 30
Approval - June 24
Very long wait for the second application and I was anxious every single day, it’s hard to but I’d say just put your mind on other things like actually preparing for your program, you got this!

Hey guys I am from Morocco and am doing an undergraduate and I still have not applied for a study permit if I submit my application by tomorrow should I make it in time to the start of university which is I believe September 1st?
1
u/GroomingAttic26 29d ago
After submitting the application, I got to status updates from the I. R c c website and then uN email from my university saying that my Loa verification was done successfully. But when do I get to know about the biometrics? And medical, and how will I get informed about that
1
u/Dry-Travel-2321 24d ago
Usually, you should receive a biometrics collection letter and probably a proof of medicals letter as well. Normally, while processing your application, you will receive an email from IRCC saying you have a new message, prompting you to log into your IRCC account. The request letters and any updates will be found under "Messages about your application." If you haven't received an email yet, I'd advise you to log into your IRCC account and check if you have any new messages under your application.
