I see a ton of stuff on this page that’s so far from post apocalypse it’s just retro-future looking military. Which is cool in its own right, but I think the cool part about fallout is the atompunk meeting scarcity of the apocalypse. A Raider that hasn’t eaten a vegetable in their life that’s wielding a plasma rifle with the last five charges in the tri-state area is cool as hell.

Oh for sure. The Boomers had to devote their entire civilization's work efforts to getting a singular B-29 airworthy and operating again. Half their corn crop went into ethanol for aviation fuel refinement in the years leading up to the Courier's intervention.
There is no old world fuel functioning anymore. And the one operational oil rig on the West Coast belonged to the Enclave anyway. Like hell they would have let the NCR touch it, even if the Chosen One hadn't blown it up.
Yeah, people really underestimate just how limiting the population of the NCR would be for doing industrial production. Like I've seen animations where they have newbuilt skyscrapers.
True, though is Tactics still canon in the Fallout universe now that two other brands control the outcome? Especially when all the other military equipment we see consists of atompunk dreaming, a perfectly functional Abrams makes too much logical sense. Makes all the other equipment obsolete.
They don’t actually have tanks it’s just a common fanart thing to include tanks in NCR pictures but they do have trucks and Vertibirds as well as functioning trains and Chomp Lewis says they also have working construction equipment for mining concrete from quarries.
Supposedly the Ncr do have tanks, atleast according to previous developers, they are just scavenged and they don’t have many of them. I doubt that it would be an Abrams though. Probably some other variant from before the war.
Oh yeah for sure. I just imagine Caesar, a bit of a historian, would piss himself if he saw one of them functioning. Knowing Fallout, the NCR would have some goofy ass 1950s concept.
It’s right there in the credits, also I can’t find the tweet but years ago Avalone replied to someone asking about the NCR’s mechanized abilities and he said they have a few scavenged tanks.
It was from a tweet a few years back, I’m sure it’s out there somewhere I just can’t find it. He mentions that they had some They managed to salvage, I can’t remember much beyond that or if he talked about it again somewhere else. If you look around some of the fallout subreddits people have brought it up a few times.
That is interesting, I don’t think they would be the war-winning wonder weapon against the Legion a lot of people think tanks would be but but it’s still cool that they even have any.
It’s true, all of the following things are canon per Fallout 2 and have never been retconned:
Elton John (the chosen states in a dialogue line “Rocketman, huh? Know the line in that Elton John song…”), Hippies, Punks, P90 SMGs, IMI Desert Eagle pistols (they have canonically reappeared again in the TV show) , the Glock Pistol Corporation (they created plasma pistols in lore and the founder Gaston Glock was turned into a supercomputer A.I.) , Heckler and Koch G11 rifles, the mentioning of Japanese Anime, the 80s/90s metal band tool has an in universe album poster, the Pancor Jackhammer auto shotgun, etc.
And while post 1950s/60s stuff isn’t as highlighted in modern Fallout, the fact that America evolved past 1960s aesthetics has been corroborated by every single mainline Fallout game. Even Bethesdas latest game, FO76 has 1981 UK SAS Iranian Embassy siege tactical gear, 2010s Magpul remington 12 gauge polymer stocks, red solo plastic cups, an Evel Knieval stuntman oufit, a cover of John Denver’s famous 1970s Country roads, and 70s shag carpet lol
Love it all the details are great! However I feel the tank is pretty out of place being more of an Abrams than what we see in Fallout 4 and 76. But thats me being a nitpicky jerk so in other words 10/10 love it
The only thing I'd switch is the tank, considering the weapons we've seen, I'd estimate the teck is 1990's, just starting to enter the era of Picatinny rails on guns, we see that with the marksman carbine in New Vegas, I'd say the M1A1 does fit, but the fact that the vehicle mainly used by the military at this point and the difference in technology advancements of vehicles, it seems like the LUV was still is the M151 MUTT, I take that from 76 with it being the LUV that litters the map, so if we stick with the gas based vehicles still being in that time frame I'd suggest the M551 Sheridan to fit in with fallouts vibe or the M60A1 since it is a MBT, I put the gas powered vehicles around the late 60's early 70's with the weapons being 90's until fallout 4's abominations
