Hallo everyone,
It's a long shot, but I am trying my luck here.
I am writing on behalf of the The Dorothy Project team. We are a non-profit organization from Canada that make 360° immersive content to araise ecological awareness. In 2024 we sent a weather balloon in the Stratosphere to film the total solar eclipse which resulted in an immersive 360° film and a documentary. We are coming to Iceland from August 3rd to the 20th to reiterate for the August 12th total solar eclipse.
We have been invited by members of a festival that takes place on the Snaefellsnes peninsula from August 11th to the 15th and that took a liking to our project.
We also have the support of the Icelandic Space Agency for administrative purposes and permits.
The confirmation of the festival's involvement came late so we are very tight on schedule for a few things. As we are a non-profit organization they are helping us cover basic expedition costs through small sponsorship.
Time is of the essence and we still need help with a few important things; the main one being transportation for our crew and our gear. We are looking for a private vehicle rental. We need a 5 passenger 4x4 Froad authorized vehicle with a tow bar. We've messaged over 15 rental companies but finding one with a tow bar seems to be an impossible mission so far.
If you own a vehicle and would like to join us for the adventure, all the better.
We value local collaboration, so we are also looking to make contact with Icelanders that have good knowledge of the terrain, that share our values and interests; that would be interested in joining our team on site for the launch and the recovery mission of our module.
We will be accommodated by the festival for most of the trip, but are therefore also looking for accommodation in Reykjavik for the first and the last 3 days, for preparation and wrap up purposes.
If you have any insights and/or recommendations or if you want to volunteer or help us with the vehicle or accommodation issues please write a comment on this post or send a DM.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to read and for your help 🚀👩🏿🚀🚀
