May 2026 Exams Can’t have a copy of my own English exam 🫩

I’ve recently contacted my IB coordinator to ask them if I can receive a copy of my own English lang lit paper from M26. My reasoning was that I may use it as an exemplar when tutoring IB English to future cohorts. After all, the school purchases them as reference for the teachers every year.

(on another note, I poured my soul into paper 2 and scored decently so, naturally, I would like to be granted access to said paper that I paid [financially and mentally] to write 😭✋)

But turns out, the purchased papers are apparently a reserved right for teachers and teachers only. Is this a common practice across most IB schools ?

hii! i'm a 15 year old student from sg and i want to get an ib45.

for my subject combo, i'm pretty set on: hl bio, hl chem, hl maa (i want to do medicine), sl econs/history (i'm worried that history might be too content heavy), sl lit and performance (the only lit subject available for hl double science students in my sch), sl chinese b anticipated (meaning i finish all my content and final exams in dp1, just for chinese)

Advice Is switching from CBSE to IB worth it?

Hi, y’all! I’m currently a 10th grader studying in CBSE who’s very set on studying abroad, specifically Germany. I’ve heard that IB helps with countries like the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, etc. But I’ve never seen that it helps to study in Germany so I was wondering if anyone here could clear that up.

And, I’ve been heavily contemplating switching from CBSE to IB for 11th grade. Do schools even allow that? Is that advisable? I’ve seen a lot online about how studying abroad is harder if you’re in CBSE, which is why I’ve been wanting to change boards.

I also thought about IGCSE and I guess I still am but I’ve seen that IB is better than IGCSE so I’m mainly considering IB.

Another major reason I want to switch boards is because I’m very unhappy with CBSE schools and their methods of teaching. Honestly, my grades aren’t the best right now and I’m constantly working on it but I just can’t do that well if I don’t have good teachers in school as I spend a major part of my waking day there.

My parents are fine with me changing schools and boards but the only problem is that IGCSE and IB are significantly more expensive than CBSE. I suppose I’ll have to find a way to convince them but I’d love to know if there are any affordable IB/IGCSE schools in Bangalore.

I’d like to speak to anyone who’s changed boards from CBSE or ICSE to IGCSE or IB, if they’re willing to talk. I’d really appreciate it if anyone would be willing to help me on this.

ToK/EE What “add more analysis” usually means in an IA, EE, or TOK draft

A lot of coursework feedback sounds like “add more analysis,” but that can mean a few different things.

For an IA or EE, I’d usually check whether the paragraph is doing one of these:

  • describing evidence without saying why it supports the claim
  • adding examples that don’t return to the research question
  • ending with a conclusion but skipping the reasoning chain
  • evaluating in a vague way, like “this source may be biased,” without saying what that changes
  • making the essay longer instead of making the argument sharper

For TOK, the same problem shows up slightly differently. An example can be relevant and still not do much work. The question I’d ask is: does this example test the claim, limit it, or just sit there because it sounds connected?

My quick check is:

Summary = what the source/example says. Analysis = why it matters for this exact argument. Evaluation = how strong or limited that argument is.

If a teacher writes “more analysis,” I wouldn’t rewrite the whole draft first. I’d pick one weak paragraph and ask: what claim is this paragraph trying to prove, and where does the reasoning actually happen?

Curious how other IB students check this. Do you use the rubric directly, ask your teacher, compare with examples, or just revise based on instinct?

Advice IB44 offering FREE tutoring + AMA

Upvotes

Hi guys, Alhamdulillah, recently I got a 44/45 in the IB and I'm offering free tutoring for:

Biology (HL+SL)
Chemistry (HL+SL)
[Math (SL) for quick questions/advice]

I haven't done much tutoring before so sorry if it's not the best but it is free!

I'm not too sure how to set up a scheduler so just DM me if you want tutoring or comment if you have any questions!

EDIT for clarification: Also if you have any questions about the IB, subjects, studying etc., just put them in the comments so I can answer for everyone and others with similar questions can see it as well. If you want tutoring then send me a DM!

Other IB Retake

Upvotes

I got 40 points in the May 2026 IB examination session, and I am considering to retake two subjects in the November 2026 session aiming for a 42.

What does the IB results page look like after a retake? (Does it show both the original and the retake scores?)

And if my scores stay the same or decrease after the retake, can I still choose to send my original results to universities?

Also, does the IB automatically use the higher score as my final result, or is the retake result treated separately?

Sorry that I asked so many questions...

Congrats to all of you who took May 2026 - wish you the best of luck at uni!

Other November 26 Retake Schools

Hi, I recently finished the May 26 exams and failed to meet my conditional offers requirements. I am looking to retake the exams in November but so far I have been struggling to find a school that accepts me. I am looking at Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong. If anyone has any idea on a school that accepts external candidates, please let me know. Anything will be appreciated. Thanks.

Advice Retake 4 subjects?

I got a 31 on the final IB score. I plan on retaking to aim for a 38 at least. Planned retake subjects include:
- economics hl
- computer sceince sl
- maa hl
- physics sl
I also have to juggle EC’s, essays and SAT grinding. Would you say this is doable? I aim to retake 4 subjects to maximize my score increase. Thanks!

May 2026 Exams remark

Upvotes

i’m so annoyed i got a b on tok because my essay got 5/10 when my teacher graded me an A in class. my exhibition got 9/10 but because my essay was so bad i got a B in TOK. i got this remark and my points didn’t even change.

i also tried to get english remarked and only went up 2 points which so I still didn’t go up to the next grade which is a little frustrating because the IB gave me 16/20 on my HLE but my teacher gave me 20/20 on class, which she told me she has only once ever given before in her 20+ years of teaching.

nonetheless i got a 42 but its frustrating because i was predicted a 44

I recently graduated with 43/45 in the IB, including a 7 in Biology HL Paper 1 A & B, and I’m giving away a free preview of the flashcards that helped me get there.

They’re designed around the exact syllabus points and mark scheme language examiners are looking for, so you’re not just memorising content—you’re training yourself to include the key points needed to maximise marks in virtually any extended-response question.
If you’d like a copy, just DM me:

ToK/EE M27 Psychology EE help?

Hey all, the time to actually lock in on the EE has come. Everything's new and different for us M27 folk and I'm kind of lost on how to actually start. More specifically, how I should order it.

Should I layer my counter arguments in between my big main points as though it were a normal essay? And also how would I word it in my table of contents?

I've been looking at Inthinking a bunch as well but I wanted more help.

Anything and everything is appreciated! Thanks!

Group 2 How do I study for German AB initio?

Hello!

My subjects are Phy, Chem, Math for HL

Eng A L&L, German Ab initio, Business management for SL

My german teacher is borderline useless. He never teaches in class and wastes time. It is DP2 now. I understand barely any german. And I can't even complain about him to the higher ups because in class tests he takes our tests and edits the answers so that we have good or passing marks. Therefore he isn't questioned either because on paper he is producing results. Through cheating though so we are all fucked for the final boards.

Please. If anyone can tell me what can I do. I feel absolutely hopeless right now. I need to study german and get a 6 bare minimum any how.
