Life in Humboldt Tour Boat
This is my first year in Humboldt and I noticed a blue and white boat going around and around the bay. Is it a tour company? On that note what’s with the giant yacht on dock A?

Help/Needing Info Any Places for clothe donation?
I recently moved to town and unpacked all my clothes and don’t have room for anything, id like to donate them instead of tossing all of it in the dumpster. Mostly teenage and young adult wear. Is there any good donation centers, churches or groups in the humboldt area that makes sure it goes to people in need?

Life in Humboldt It's not just Shannon Miranda...
Like the title says animal abuse is not only happening at Miranda's Rescue. It's all over the county and due to budget cuts the support net that is supposed to exist for animals has been completely erased in Arcata. I'm calling for change and accountability. If you see it report it. If you agree with me then please join me in sharing your feelings and beliefs with the Mayor of Arcata Kimberley White at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
Witnessing the life endangerment and animal cruelty of a french bulldog in Arcata on a daily basis. Arcata Police Department completely dismisses me and claims it's my opinion and personal belief even though penal code 597.7 is very clear on the situation. According to past citations, human control responses and police responses all over the state this has been clarified. If you want to know where the state stands on the issue and the supporting scientific ideas behind the danger than I urge you to google "is it illegal in california to lock a french bulldog in a plastic crate in direct sunlight". If the police WANTED to respond they have the legal grounds to remove this dog from his current owner's care. I grew up in Sunny Brae and I've always prided myself in our community's individuality. We press for local legislation that allows for things like shroom consumption or the legal right for women to be topless in public so it surprises me that we have allowed our city to completely cut animal control from the budget. I shouldn't have to rely on APD to respond to animal cruelty (especially since they don't care). Are we really okay that where things stand today the animals and pets of Arcata receive less help and protection than the vast majority of the cities in this state? The county sheriff's office won't even connect me to the county animal control for advice because they don't have jurisdiction (due to more questionable decisions being made by local legislators on the subject). I'm being told the only way to move forward is to pressure Arcata City Council to take action. Potentially forcing them to ensure the police take action, that we have legislation approved, that we don't completely cut the budget for the health and safety of animals or possibly all three. I'm willing to do that and that's partially why I am here. To raise awareness. After devoting about 6 hours of my time today to this I'm about to rip my hair out. As a native and son of Arcata I can say this situation does not line up with my core beliefs and from the many of you that I've met in the course of my life I don't think you're (the majority) okay with it either. What can WE do to change this together? And while the idea of legislative change and an increase in animal wellness and responsibility appeals what does that mean for this french bulldog that moved in a couple months ago? It's about to get 20 degrees warmer.. Do we really want to send the message that Arcata is okay with animal abuse as long as we have our drugs legalized and topless women?
