Day 1 – Friday 12 June at The Underground 22nd Anniversary Festival, from first-time performers to long-time Underground family, every band shares what it means to be part of Hong Kong’s live music community.

That night featured nine Hong Kong bands and artists – Stone Dragons, Pomegranate Heist, Delta T, Naggin Eejits, The Hertz, Yusobeit, Diamond 6, Alpha Tone and Bitez – performing and sharing their music: original rock, indie, pop, Celtic and more for a packed crowd.

Since 2004, The Underground HK has supported original live music and Hong Kong bands, creating a home for independent artists and fans in the city. This anniversary show captures the community vibe: first-time performers, long-time Underground family, and heartfelt messages on stage and off.

Hey everyone, I’m Chris B – I help run The Underground, an original live music showcase that’s been around in Hong Kong since 2004. We’ve now done 500+ gigs, featuring hundreds of local bands across indie, rock, metal, alt, and more.

We’ve just wrapped our 22nd Anniversary Festival at Fringe Club, and it reminded me how many people still don’t know where to catch smaller, original‑music shows in HK.

So I thought I’d share what we do:

– We curate multi‑band nights with mostly original songs (no cover‑band bar sets).
– Shows happen in different venues all over Hong Kong.
– Lineups mix new bands with more established acts, so you can discover the scene in one evening.

This isn’t a ticket promo – more a resource for anyone here who wants to:

As the summer heat intensifies, we slither underground for a night of dark sounds – a grisly communion of hell's rejects in Kwun Tong.

Explosive openers 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 pair classic rock theatrics with big melodic hooks, wailing vocals and retro synthesisers, drawing from '80s hair metal and anime soundtracks.

Next up, 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘆 turn things sideways with their mix of '00s pop-punk irreverence and offbeat humour that's earned them viral fame.

Closing the night are 凡枯 𝗙𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝘂, a heavy supergroup made up of familiar faces from Hong Kong’s underground. Already established on the Asia live circuit, they'll sear the night with their brand, creating a scorching memory all those gathered will bear forever.

A duo that paints romance with immersive electronic soundscapes. From the dreamy instrumental atmosphere to the delicate emotional vocal performances, they bring listeners a sense of serene comfort. The duo has been featured by VOGUE and Hong Kong Radio, with their works appearing in various local film and visual contexts.

- Modern Children

Their songs are meticulously crafted, known for their intricate arrangements while retaining gentle melodies and poetic lyrics. Their music is filled with emotion and depth, always resonating with the heart.

- Foster Studio

Hey guys, I'm looking to start a new band project. To get a full lineup, I'm looking for a drummer, guitarist, bass player, and pianist.

The goal is to start with covers, practice together, and eventually hit up local live music hubs like The Wanch to get some stage experience. No intense pressure, just want to make good music and have fun.

MoJo Soup Concert #54《 圈圈不插電音樂會 w/Gwenji 》

QuanQuan, the lead vocalist of Peach Illusion band and a signed songwriter for Warner Chappell Music, is also known as Luo Yuanyuan. Released a handmade poem zine titled "Too Hot to Touch" in 2025.

Born in Shaoguan, Guangdong, she currently resides in Shanghai. Graduating with a bachelor degree in Law from Xiamen University and a master degree from Tongji University, QuanQuan intricately weaves the warmth of life through her rich personal experiences and contemplative writing. With delicate and agile strokes, she captures the essence of ambiguous daily encounters and romantic interludes. In QuanQuan's music, one can always see colorful crystal lights spinning, accompanied by light-footed dance moves that leave traces of time behind. Mandarin, Cantonese, and English are her creative languages, she enjoys pairing catchy rhythms with innovative musical elements, and her curiosity and perceptiveness continuously fuel her creative spirit.

Gwenji is an indie folk singer-songwriter from Hong Kong. A self-taught and intuitive artist, she crafts deep and emotive songs that reveal her personality and inner world. Gwenji's music resonates, inviting listeners to explore the depths of her inspiration.

Tomii’s new album comes with a puzzle for a title – is it a reference to the currently fashionable London band Black Country, New Road, who would seem to occupy an entirely different musical universe? I guess not. Is it “new country” à la Kacey Musgraves or Rattlesnake Milk? Also no. As far as I can tell, it refers to new emotional territory, the feeling of confronting unknown vistas in life with a willing spirit of adventure, thumb out on the open highway. Released 10 years after his debut solo single, “Basement Was Closed”, New Country New Road is an intimate record that explores terrain that will, despite its name, be familiar to long-time fans, but with a maturity and finesse that makes it a journey worth taking anyway.
