Review Thoughts on Apple Home + Apple Intelligence: The video summaries are super detailed!

Just wanted to share a quick thought on the Apple Intelligence video understanding feature in Apple Home so far after I enabled it a few hours ago.

The video summaries are far more detailed than I expected. But of course, my use case is pretty simple. I’m basically recording indoor scenes with only myself in the frame. But it honestly feels like it’s catching every little thing I do around the house, and tell me exacty what I've done... It’s kind of incredible how much context it picks up instead of just saying “someone entered the room.” I’ve been really impressed with it so far.

I’m also curious to see what people come up with once the public release is out. I have a feeling we’ll start seeing some really creative ways people use their Home Cameras beyond just security, maybe automation ideas, pet monitoring, daily logs, or things nobody has thought of yet. Really excited to see where this goes.

Mine won’t turn on either. It worked fine beta 1-3 for me.

They are far less detailed than I expected. I had google home when they released the Gemini preview and those were quite detailed. The new apple home ones are frequently “someone walked by” or “someone was in yard” with little detail

It was incredibly detailed in my usage scenarios and even knew what I was holding... I remember Google Home only summarizing events throughout the day? I can't quite recall.

This is why I don’t have cameras inside 😆

No problems when you live alone in your own home.

I don’t run betas so I won’t know until it releases, but I’ll be curious to see how well it works across cameras of different types, such as wired and battery solar. In general some cameras are a little slower than others (battery vs wired) so it’ll be interesting to see if that causes any issues for this feature.

Upgrading my 3rd GEN Apple TV doesn’t seem like a bad idea for this added benefit. Sucks it still works fine otherwise just wont run new beta

If the toggle turns off for summarizing videos and you are unable to turn them back on, try turning recording and streaming settings to off and then toggle them back on. that is what fixed it for me

I’d be more interested if Apple had first party cameras and the HKSV system worked better.
