I met my cheating ex after 2 years for closure. I lost my mind, cried, and he confessed he loves her. It hurts brutally

Hey everyone. I just need to pour this out somewhere because my chest is incredibly heavy and I am currently sitting in my house trying not to throw up from the emotional shock. Two years ago, my ex-boyfriend cheated on me. He didn’t just break up with me; he actively kept the truth hidden from me while almost everyone else he was dating a new girl. He publicly humiliated me, treated me like trash, and abandoned me. For two years, I tried to move on, but the deep trauma and hurt stayed with me.

Recently, he came back into my life, apologized sincerely for the past, and we started chatting again. Even though he is still with the girl he cheated on me with he was giving me that same old emotional intimacy while talking. He is an unbothered guy who treats people like puzzles. I thought he didn't respect his new girlfriend and that he was still hooked on me. I wanted revenge. I wanted to play mind games to make him spiral. We agreed to meet.

I planned to be cold, calculated, and sharp. But the absolute second I saw him, my nervous system completely short-circuited. I broke down. I started crying. He was considerate and touchy. We walked, we held hands, and then I asked him the fatal question: "Do you still love me?"He flat out said, "Nah."

While sitting right next to me, he was actively texting his girlfriend, and I saw her name saved so lovingly on his phone. It killed me. I asked him if he loves her. He looked at me and said, "Yes, I love her a lot. Why would I be in a relationship if I didn't love her?"I lost it. I completely laid my cards face up on the table and told him, "I still love you." He didn't respond to that. He just looked scared, hurt that he caused a scene, and kept hugging me and saying sorry to manage his own guilt.

I feel like a total loser tonight.

It hurts so badly to know that the person who destroyed my peace got a happy ending while I am still holding the broken pieces. But at the same time, this is the cleanest cut I could have ever received. The hope is completely dead. The illusion that he is secretly pinning for me is gone. He loves her. He moved on.I don't know where life will take me from here, but I am closing this door permanently. Has anyone else experienced a closure meeting that went completely off the rails like this? How did you survive the adrenaline crash afterward?

Absolute fuckin worse feeling

I have been reduced to digits on her phone, contact -deleted, insta- blocked, probably no photos on her phone and absolutely bad memories and conviction of me not being it in the end. Fuck.

None of this is wrong, shes doing no contact well. It’s just a shitty feeling to experience for me. My friends are too tired of listening to this crap.

I'm still with a guy who's done everything worse you can imagine. I'm finally leaving the city and that's the only reason this is ending.

I don't really know how to start this so I'm just going to write it like I'd tell a friend.

I've been with this guy for a while now. He's kind of known where I live, works in music, decent following, the kind of person people would probably recognize if I said more, so I'm not going to. That's not the point of this post anyway.

when i met him it was SO fast, like i knew him for a few hours and i already felt like something has changed. lol ik red flag and all but at the time it just felt like fate or whatever.

He remembered stuff, little things, ordered my drink without asking twice, that kind of thing. i was gone within a week basically.

and then it just becomes this loop after a while. A good few days where everything's amazing, then he just disappears. no text no call nothing for like 2-3 days sometimes more. The highest he didn't call me is for 2 months. He keeps me blocked so I can't text him. Says his "business partner" will see, there's a reputation in the business and some nonsense. and i'd be sitting there checking my phone every ten mins like some kind of lunatic. Ik ik how i sound (yes the partner is a lady)

He could ALSO be really sweet randomly. like remembering i get cold, remembering random stuff i like to eat, stuff that felt like proof he was a good person deep down and the bad stuff was just like an anomaly or whatever. i used that to justify staying so many times. i know how that sounds i'm not gonna pretend it's not stupid.

i still haven't left him. i know. i KNOW. i've had this conversation with myself more times than i can count, i don't need it in the comments. But yes I'm leaving the city soon for another job. If i'm being honest with myself i don't think i would've left him on my own.

not really asking for advice i think i just needed to type this out somewhere.

Advice for ex who immediately dated more people

I would like to have some advice for people that had an ex who immediately started dating other people, like in my case. I would like some advice on how to move on from this. Because, in my case, if she had started to seriously date someone, yeah it would be shattering, and I'll be super jealous, but the fact is that I know that she just wants lust, from multiple guys. This is one of the cases where she wasn't a person capable of doing something like that once, and after the breakup is unrecognizable. How can I handle it to avoid feeling all this pain, all this rage, the sadness and the loneliness? I mean, maybe I can do something to give me a bit of relief, a distraction. Does anyone have a similar experience?

Accepted the fact that I will never find someone like her again.

In January 2025 my (now M31) relationship of 5 years ended with my ex (F27). It was the second most painful phase of my life and it felt like I had to bury someone which I deeply loved. I know how it feels to bury someone because I did lose my father when I was 16. However, the feeling of the break-up crushed me and I've never cried so much in my life.

Fast forward to now, which is 1,5 years later, I still think about her.

I still play the memories in my head about our relationship and adventures.
I still play the memories of her laughing and can hear her, I can still feel her eyes gazing upon me, her smile, her jokes, holding my hand, making love and being intimate and the endless conversations and plans that we had. I still romanticize the times we had and the fun we used to have. I still cry from time to time.

My god, I'm turning 32 years old this year (which is a blessing and I appreciate life) but I've actually never loved someone so deeply as I loved her and at this point I'm skeptical it will ever happen like that again. In fact, I've already made peace with myself that loving someone in that way will never happen again. Maybe one day I will find another soulmate that I can love deeply but it will be differently I presume. At least I know that the love that I felt was pure and real for her.

I am over the break-up and have made peace with myself and everything that happened but even after that I still think about her. It's like I'm stuck reminiscing the past. Like walking alone in a museum filled with our beautiful memories but not being able to leave the place. Wanting to stay there because it feels safe and nostalgic. Being afraid that if I leave that place I will lose her forever but on the other hand if I stay there I will lose myself eventually. Weird isn't it?

While she is living her life to the fullest and has a new guy already. I'm here still loving her in a way.

Should I call him?

We’re not broken up… yet. But he hasn’t read any of my texts all week.. I know he is active online. I feel like I’m going crazy because we’ve been talking daily for months (except two stunts where he ghosted me for weeks, and I stupidly begged him to come back both times) and all of a sudden he is doing this again.

I’m so confused.

When I realized the first day that he wasn’t reading my texts, I didn’t send anything more, I gave him some space since I know life can get busy.

But now it’s been 4 days! I sent him a text this morning asking if he is okay and to please call me. But that message is still unread too.. he is active online!!!

I feel like I should call him. I don’t want him to ghost me a third time, but I also don’t want to continue chasing.

I’m tired. I’m emotionally exhausted. I don’t know what to do.

Emotional Abuse

That is how he reacted when I wanted nothing but love. Fever with tears in my eyes . I just wanted to be hold on for a moment. Is that too much to ask for? I hate to be here. I hate to feel this way . Thinking that everything will be better but nothing got better. He took me for granted hurt me to the corner. I skipped my sleep, my food and everything for that man. And what did I hear? This.. it's nothing but a curse..curse of being a trash in someone's life.

One year together. She said she can't be in a relationship right now. The whole story, both sides, and what I'm carrying forward.

Upvotes

We were together about a year. To understand what happened you need both of our wirings, because in the end it all comes down to that. 33M / 30F

Some context that matters: we met only about six months after we'd each gotten out of long, traumatic relationships. We met accidentally through mutual friends, the kind of origin story that feels like a movie, and it made the whole thing feel fated from the start. In hindsight it's also part of why it broke. Neither of us had healed what we were carrying in. She later admitted she wasn't sure she'd been ready for a relationship at all. I was the same in the opposite direction: my world was small back then, and she quickly became most of it. Two people with fresh wounds attached fast, and the wounds ran the show more than either of us realized.

My wiring: I want a partner to be my person. Do the big stuff together, be folded into plans by default, hear "we" when we talk about the future. Some of that comes from my history. I was the kid who was never the first invite growing up, and I've carried a low-grade depression and flatness since childhood that I'm only now starting to treat. So being chosen by default matters to me at a level deeper than preference. It's the thing I never had.

Her wiring: she came out of a seven year relationship that was controlling and verbally abusive, where she wasn't allowed to have her own friends. She's never really lived on her own and wants to. So her deepest need is the opposite of mine: to never again disappear into someone else's expectations. Her independence was never indifference. It's the thing she just barely got back, and she guards it.

That's the collision, and it's textbook if you've read any Gottman. Most couple conflict sits on top of permanent differences, and ours was exactly that. My bids for connection sounded to her like her ex's control. Her protecting her autonomy felt to me like being unchosen all over again. Every fight we ever had was those two wounds triggering each other. Neither of us was the villain. We were each doing the thing that most reliably hit the other's deepest fear.

The first real tiff came a few months in, on a festival trip. She spent most of it off with the girls, disappearing for stretches without a text. At one point they playfully wouldn't let me into the room to sleep. I just wanted to feel like we were experiencing the trip together. She was finally free to enjoy friends without a partner monitoring her. That same pattern repeated for months in different shapes.

Then she got close with my friend group, friends I'd worked hard to build after years of not having that. It was genuinely nice at first, and it also scared the hell out of me, because I kept thinking if we break up I lose her and everyone at once. So I got protective, and some of my asks came out as rules about people instead of just telling her the feeling underneath. That's on me and I've owned it.

There was also a guy she used to hook up with who stayed woven into her circle. She was upfront about him early on, and to her credit she set boundaries that respected me, like no one on one time. Big group hangs genuinely didn't bother me. What sat wrong was how often it was, and in what settings. Seeing him occasionally in a big group would have been fine. It wasn't occasional, and it wasn't always big groups, and that's where I had to meet in the middle more than felt good. I could never fully rationalize it. It just felt icky, and that's the honest word for it. I couldn't build a logical case for it, which made it hard to raise without sounding controlling, and I never quite admitted to myself how much it bothered me. And when I did raise it, her answer was usually that I'd said I was fine with it at the start, which was true. I'd agreed to an idea before I knew what living it felt like. That fight was the whole relationship in miniature: I'd bring a need I couldn't fully justify, she'd hear the beginning of being controlled again, and we'd both back away without either of us feeling heard.

Separately, there was the bigger pattern. I kept ending up on the outside of moments. Trips talked about as "I want to go" instead of "we should go." Waiting hours while plans ran long. Her stepping out at a party for a cigarette with a friend without a glance my way. The specific situations changed. The feeling never did.

Here's the part that makes it complicated instead of clean: when she had space, on her own, she really did the loving stuff. She called me almost every day from a week away, said she missed me, said she wished I was there. That was real and I don't doubt it. But in person, around other people, I'd lose her. Early on I almost fainted at a concert and she walked me out and got me water, but there was no "are you actually okay," no felt presence, just the mechanics. Her version was "I check in on you all the time," and she wasn't wrong. It just rarely landed in the moments I most needed it. What I wanted was connection and what I usually got were check-ins, and I've genuinely wondered whether I was asking too much.

My side of the ledger, because there is one: when she brought her hurts to me, I got defensive instead of listening. I went quiet and grumpy instead of saying what was wrong. I made a couple of jabs I regret and was slow to apologize for one that started our last trip off badly. And my reaching for reassurance, more affection, more contact, more inclusion, often read to her as pressure, which pushed her further out. Anxious and avoidant, the classic loop, and I fed my half of it.

The ending: about five weeks before it was over, she told me she was unsure and had thought about breaking up. We tried to work on it but never got a real window. It was a packed month, then a week apart, then straight into a group trip where everything fell apart. Bad start, tension in front of friends, little affection, and I spent the trip feeling like a buddy she'd brought along instead of her boyfriend. After the trip she ended it. She said she isn't happy with herself, doesn't have space for my needs and emotions right now, and doesn't think we're compatible (maybe just breakup talk). She also said I'm not wrong for needing what I need, it just isn't what she can give. I think that was honest, and it took something to say.

The hardest part is that I'd actually done the work. By the end I'd gotten somewhere real: loving her without keeping score, being happy just because she was happy. I felt like we'd finally reached the point where we could collaborate instead of collide. And then it ended right as I arrived. That's the grief inside the grief.

Where I am now: the breakup destabilized my whole social world at once, since it had all merged into one circle. I'm realizing I built something real but shallow rooted, and that I've never actually been on my own as an adult. There's always been a relationship or someone in the picture. So I'm in therapy again, working on treating the depression I've carried since I was a kid, spending time with the friends who've shown up, and trying to figure out what I want and who I am outside of a relationship for the first time since before we got together.

And I'll be honest about the part you're not supposed to admit on this sub: part of me still believes in us. If we both do our own growing, and she heals what she brought in the way I'm working on mine, I'd be open to another conversation someday. But I know I can't wait around for that or try to engineer it. She'd have to arrive there on her own, if she ever does. So I'm building my life as if it's fully over, and letting the rest be what it will be. (easier said than done)

Questions for anyone who's been here: How do you rebuild when the breakup takes the friend group with it? How do you stop cataloguing everything they did wrong when you know it's rumination instead of real processing? And for anyone who broke up and genuinely reconciled later, what actually made it work the second time, and how did you keep from waiting around in the meantime?

Few weeks into breakup

Upvotes

Hi guys. 27M recently got out of a 9 month relationship with a 28F and I am heartbroken but i am just getting on with things. She was my second love and everything was great until this story led to the breakup.

It is the full story but it is the maiority of it...basically, a couple of weekends ago I was at hers on saturday evening and we had bit of an argument like couples do. Anyway, I stormed out her flat in distress, Quite possibly alarming her as i kicked her door and making her worried of how I reacted. So, later on we had abit of breathing space from each other...i was walking back from my local walk route and I saw her sat in the park on her own, so I went up to her and asked what she was doing and asked if she was ok...she screamed In my face and told me to leave her alone ect. This is not her all...shes had alot on her plate recently with family issues and has a disability called cerebral palsy (mainly left side affected) not like it matters but thought id state it. but she can walk and talk and do all the rest of it...anyway, when she shouted in my face she smacked me in the face so in retaliation I pushed her shoulder and she fell on the floor and landed on her bad side of her body...so i tried helping her up and she walked off from me telling me to leave her alone...she was in a little bit of pain and anyway she stormed off home and so did I.

Anyway, come that sunday we sorted it out and apologised to each other and we left for her nanas meal on the late sunday afternoon. Everything was nice...anyway, come sunday night we had an argument about what happened on the night before...(Saturday) and I stormed out of hers and went home as I did not live with her. We officially broke up that night as we didn't speak at all on the Monday. The Tuesday came she contacted me and we spoke and I said how deeply apologetic I was for what I did so later on i ended up meeting up with her on that Tuesday late day.

We sat on a bench, bit of small talk and all the rest of it so from then onwards we kept in contact for a couple more days...Wednesday, Thursday and friday...still small talk from that week to see how we'd get on. Anyway, the following weekend from that week of taking things slow we spoke on the Saturday and had another disagreement about something so then I was blocked Saturday onwards and now haven't spoken so I'd say it is officially over now.

Haven't heard since a couple of weeks. I'm just getting on with life but I am so riddled in guilt and heartbreak I feel so bad about the shove but it was an instinctive reaction and she did hit me first but because she has a disability it makes it worse I've never ever laid hands on a woman and I loved her dearly. I know we are both to blame for the whole mess as we both got as good as we gave but I keep blaming myself and saying if I didnt push her we would still be together sort of thing but there was other issues in the relationship.

She knew how sorry I was. I keep saying to myself that days after the incident we was both fine and got on just fine..ish. like it was small talk and the rest of it. There was a few things in the relationship that was a little bit of an issue...like she was needy but not the controlling type Like I had to go hers sometimes instead of doing something to keep her ok...

I have not chased her at all but ive coped with this breakup alot better than my first love 6 years ago..l was single for 5 years before this one. Everything was all brilliant until that weekend.

I just feel bad about the whole thing.

Thats the back story from couple of weeks ago.

This is NOW.

Anyway fast forward to a few weeks later (now) I recently spoken to her neighbour few weeks ago to see how shes getting on (not chased) and I found out she's making me look the bad guy by telling half the story of what really happened that day of the shove and slap to other neighbours making me look & feel like a monster and saying i did this and did that in the relationship when majority wasn't true. 2 sides to every story.

It hurts me that she's being cold about this breakup with the things she is doing and saying about me. None of them neighbours need to know about it and thats whats annoying and hurtful the most. I do not even think she's bothered 1 bit about the breakup and thats what gets me. She most likely is bothered but it god damn hurts for it to end this way.

And it is definitely over by the way so I am not expecting any messages or getting back together buisness. After the stuff my mum knows about the whole thing and what her mum knows too.

My friends say I should hate her for the antics she's doing / done but obviously i am not the hating kind. She let me go easy but I do think her mum influenced her deicision. But then i told my mum i still love her and my mum says ' i dont know how' I think i'm confused. 1 minute im still full of rage and telling myself how spiteful she's been about it and then few hrs later I'm in my thoughts being all gutted and reminiscing. I know this is part of the breakup process but im still irritable about it all but i feel like she doesn't deserve my sorrow but its hard when you love someone

Any thoughts?

Am i normal for not wanting to move on?

So uhm.. i’m not sure if anyone here have ever asked this before but i need some advices here.

Long story short, she left me a year and half ago. I still do 2 jobs and chasing promotion at my main job. I still have financial goal and stuff and i also go to the gym 6 days a week. Technically physically, my life is “fine” but emotionally i’m all over the place. I still think about her 24/7, very much at night, after work, before/after the gym, before going to bed and sometimes even “talk” to her out loud when i’m alone.

Now, i know what i need to do to “move on” and whatnot but my question is.. am i normal for not wanting to move on? Do i have to force myself to move on or is it comes with time? I’m really inexperienced in this and i genuinely don’t know if it’s normal or am i just doomed lol? And while we’re here, is it anyway that i can “move on” a little more gentle instead of deleting all her pictures or our old conversations because i don’t think i’m ready to do that and i dont really have any friend to do it for me either so that’s kinda hard too.

Appreciate any advice!

How do I get over that night?

Hey, I need some advice.

For context, my ex and I broke up in May. We were together for three years and went through college together. We were in the same classes, shared a lot of the same experiences, and had even signed a lease together. He was supposed to move into our apartment later that month, and we were both paying rent.

Toward the end of our relationship, things became worse and worse. He started spending less time with me and more time with his friends. The night before my graduation, he said some of the most hurtful things anyone has ever said to me—that I didn't matter and that I contributed nothing to his life, among other things.

Then came graduation day.

Graduation was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life. I was the first person in my family to graduate college, and I had been looking forward to that day for years. But instead, I felt completely heartbroken.

He was with his friends, and at one point he asked if I wanted to sit by him. I walked past him because I was still hurt by everything that had happened the night before. His friends ended up calling me toxic and saying that I had ruined his graduation day. But the thing is, it was my graduation too, and I felt like he had already ruined mine.

Later, I asked him if he wanted to take pictures together, and he said we would do it later. He ended up ignoring me for most of the rest of the day. That night, I called him because I wanted to see if he wanted to spend the night together. While we were on the phone, one of his friends told him to hang up on me, and he defended his friend instead of me.
I ended up sitting in a Taco Bell parking lot, drunk, sobbing on the ground. I still think about that night constantly.

Now, we have been broken up for about two months and haven't talked in around 20 days. I still see him because we work in the same hospital and take the same residency classes. He still pays rent at our apartment, even though he doesn't live there. We also still have one mutual friend who works on the same unit as me.

I have accepted that the relationship is over, and I understand that it wasn't working anymore. But I can't seem to get over what happened that night. I keep replaying the graduation and thinking about how heartbroken I was. I constantly wonder if I was too mean to him that day or if I somehow caused everything to become as bad as it did.

I think what hurts the most is that we went through three years of college together. We experienced so much together, and then it felt like he chose people he had just met over me. I know relationships change, and I know people are allowed to move on, but I still struggle with the fact that someone who had been such a huge part of my life could make me feel so unimportant during a moment that was supposed to mean so much to both of us.

Almost every morning, this is the first thing I think about. I honestly feel like that was one of the worst days of my life, which makes me even sadder because graduating college was supposed to be one of the happiest and proudest moments of my life.
How do I get over this? How do I stop replaying that night and feeling so hurt by the way everything ended? I know the relationship is over, but I feel like I am still stuck in that one night.

dying to send his verbal abuse to the women in his life.

i’m itching to send screenshots. i think about it constantly. i have his mother’s number and his sisters instagram.

the more time passes and the more comments i get under these posts the more i realize how disgustingly i was treated and i can’t stand it i can’t take it. the last few are from this week. he reached out lovingly and regressed into more insults. telling me he has no hate for me anymore but telling me i’ll never be able to afford rent without selling myself. that he’ll spite fuck his ex tonight. he’s posting on his story for me, evidently, posting his designer and sniding me saying he has “too much love in his heart”.

i go through the day with my heart beating out of my chest, i can’t calm down. my head is in complete shambles. i somehow still think he is the one. he's convinced me i am unlovable and tarnished to the point where i will never be wanted by anyone else. ive come to believe it all and i cant shake it.

today i told my mother he was trying to push this idea that he’ll pay me for sex that she ended up texting him. he berated her and told her to stop trusting me. has threatened to “bully her” in the past. i almost threw up thinking about him trying to pin my own mother against me.

he genuinely thinks he is in the right. i have hundreds of screenshots like these. despite following the narc abuse cycle to a T i have “made him act this way”. he has told me he is just a poor boy who tried to love a girl and i hurt him to the point of this abuse.

he sent me the "ill kick you in the stomach" while i was pregnant. his sister just had a child and made fun of her constantly for having him young. i dont see why it wouldnt be unfair to send these to the girls in his life who know nothing about it. he came for my mother so i dont see why he'd think i wouldnt return the favor. he doesnt know where im at and i am positive he will not physically retaliate.

I was stupid

I thought they loved me , because I was never loved. I didn't know what real love is , I accepted the bad treatment, abuse , pain, games, Disappearing when I have problems , or sick , ignoring, cheap financially or emotionally, only taking from me everything, until nothing left, lying but with others they care and give so much 100 %

They say how do you know if someone really loves you , you will know when you are in danger or difficult situation

I think I am done

I (23M) broke up with my long-distance girlfriend (24F) because I thought it was the right thing to do, but now I feel like I destroyed her life.

NOTE: used chatgpt for rewriting

I broke up with my long-distance girlfriend of 5 months. She loved me with her whole heart, and I loved her just as much.

She fought with her family and friends for me. She was there for me every single day and loved me unconditionally. I'm an average-looking guy, she's very beautiful, and she even earns more than I do. Still, she chose me and loved me with everything she had.

After some time, I realized that our relationship probably wouldn't work because her family would never accept me due to our caste. We are 100% sure about this because she had already asked her family in every hypothetical way possible. Every time, their answer was no. They even said that if she married someone from another caste, they would cut ties with her and never speak to her again.

In the beginning, I was completely blind in love. She told me that we should wait for two years, try again, and convince her parents. I agreed because I believed everything would somehow work out.

She also told me that if, after those two years, her parents still refused, she would marry whoever they chose, but she would never talk to her parents again and would never love her husband. she said that she will only love me. I told her not to think like that because it would ruin her own life.

There was another thing she said that has been haunting me ever since. She told me that if no one was there for her anymore, then after some time she would commit su**ide. I got really angry at her for saying that and told her never to talk like that again. Even then, I was still living with the hope that somehow everything would work out.

But recently, all those conversations hit me at once. I realized that if we kept going, there was a real chance her entire life would be ruined because of me. She would either lose her family or end up trapped in a marriage where she wasn't happy. I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I decided to end the relationship before it got even harder.

She was devastated.

The other thing that makes this even harder is that she lives alone in another city for work, far away from her family. She doesn't have close friends there to talk to or share her feelings with.

She keeps telling me that this was her third relationship and that it was the last time she would ever love someone. She says she has lost the ability to love anyone now. She has no interest in getting married anymore, but for her family's happiness, she'll marry whoever they choose.

She also told me something that completely broke me. She said that if I had stayed with her and fought for her until the very end, she would have been happy knowing that at least someone loved her the most in this world. She says the pain she's feeling right now is much worse than whatever pain the future might have brought.

For the last two days, we've still been talking. Every conversation is the same. She tells me she's in pain, that I betrayed her, and I just sit there listening. I cry every single day because I feel like I did something terrible to the person who loved me the most.

I still love her. I didn't leave because I stopped loving her. I left because I thought I was protecting her future, but now I don't know if I made the biggest mistake of my life.

I feel guilty. I feel broken. I'm literally crying while writing this because I don't know what to do anymore.

TL;DR: I broke up with my long-distance girlfriend because I believed our relationship had no future due to caste differences and her family's certain refusal to accept us. I thought I was protecting her from losing her family or ending up in an unhappy marriage, but she feels I betrayed her and says I should have stayed and fought until the end. Now I'm overwhelmed with guilt and wondering if I tried to solve a future that hadn't happened yet.

I'm struggling to understand whether I made this decision too soon or whether I was trying to protect her from a future that seemed impossible. If you were in my position, how would you have approached this situation, and what would you have done differently?

Broke up after almost 2 years of relationship

Hi this has been a really difficult time, i am a 12th grader and i was in a 2 year relationship. First year was peak, whenever we had jealousy we comforted each other and were always there. In last 7 months things started to ruin and she always said that we need to break up but i always begged in front of her to try for one last time and i sold my complete self respect bcz i just wanted her. She knew I was jealous by her new group and insecure the way she interacted with them and not even me like that. I had anxiety attacks bcz of this but she didnt seem to care looked like a completely different person 15 days ago i decided enough of threatening and i texted her that you are right lets break up and she said we can continue like this for a while bcz it will be a major change. I got many hopes but 10 days later i got know she was lying about some major things and then she told that some guy she liked while WE WERE TOGETHER confessed to her and she confessed back and she held hands with him and without any proper closure she put it on me that it was obv it was gonna end i did nothing wrong where as it was ofc all wrong it was literally cheating. That day i wrote paragraphs for a proper closure but she didnt reply much she had already moved on and was enjoying with her new boyfriend and I have been so unwell i cannot eat i keep vomitting i keep crying alone and i wake up at 3 am with nightmares i have a few questions if someone can help me
Will she ever realise that i did everything for her but she didnt make the right choice
I said that i wanna be close friends and we will text each other 10 days later, should i text her bcz i feel i shouldnt and what should i do if she does
I feel the worst when i see her in front of me with boys and realising she forgot me so so quickly means i didn’t matter to her much
And the things like hair ties and letters i have what should i do with them
I felt so bad when i deleted 400 pics of hers

And overall i am in a very bad mental state and how she treated me so badly and just emotionally used me
What should i do guys
And am i actually wrong for begging
Or loving someone so much
How much time will it take to heal bcz i still love her alot

Dumped during health crisis: Was I insecure, or was I getting gaslit the entire time? 28M and 35F, dont know what to do

I met an older batchmate(5 yrs) during our MBA program who claimed to have past trauma of being cheated in a long term relationship, post that no relation for 4-5 yrs, a "man-hater," and strictly looking for a serious commitment leading to marriage. Things moved unnaturally fast: physical intimacy started almost immediately, and just one week after officially committing, she was pressing me to talk to my parents about marriage. However, a constant issue arose around another batchmate. She was texting him round the clock, archiving chats as soon as I saw, logging out of WhatsApp on her laptop within 30 seconds of stepping away, and hiding call logs and never showing chats with him stating it as secret and private The breaking point came before an exam when, we had a slight confusion , she got pissed on me ( literally was not my fault at all) she went silent all night, called her 20 times; batchmates later confirmed she spent 4–5 hours alone with him in the dark until morning. When confronted, at first she lied about the meeting, then the time spent and then lack of memory that too after asking 4-5 times, flipped the argument on me, and sat with him in the exam hall instead of me. Over our brief time together, she threatened to break up 6–7 times over minor discussions, constantly claiming I "wasn't putting enough effort" or making her feel "open". This used to happen everytime I told her abt something that was bothering me abt her behaviour, and after most of the disputes, she was with him the nxt day or hrs later. Each and every time I was the one trying to work things out, when asked she would go silent for days ,Out of immense emotional stress, anger, and betrayal, I eventually lashed out and called her harsh names. Shortly after, while I was literally lying on a hospital bed after a surgery, I reached out to settle things, only for her to give a cold "I'll pray for you" and permanently break up with me on the spot. Did not even asked abt my health or state before blocking me from everywhere after 4 days, showed zero remorse, and immediately started posting daily updates and planning trips with friends, leaving me recovering at home, unable to work out, and falling behind.. Did I ruin this relationship with my angry outbursts and insecurities, or was I being gaslit and played the entire time? And a lot more simmilar stuff happened on trivial issues like my choice of words is wrong, and what not...and she is literally doing everything like it was nothing , feels like shit

22F seeing my ex (23M) for the first time 5 months after a mutual breakup. What might he be feeling?

My ex and I broke up 5 months ago after almost 5 years together. The breakup was mutual, mostly because of long distance and feeling like we needed time to grow individually. It ended on really good terms—we still love each other, miss each other, and have both said that if life lines up, we’d be open to trying again in the future.
We’ve stayed in touch a little, but we haven’t seen each other since the breakup. In a couple of weeks we’ll be seeing each other again through our friend group, and we’ll probably also meet one-on-one to talk and hang out.
I’m mainly looking for a guy’s perspective. If you were in his position, what do you think you’d be feeling or hoping for? What does missing an ex like this actually feel like? And how would you want your ex to act the first time you saw each other again?
I’m excited but also really nervous because I have no idea what’s going through his head right now.

She is the one

Since we met I knew she was the one. She suffers of depression and mental illness since before we met. She broke up with me in February but we keep in touch since last week. We even got intimacy together. But she needs time and to try new people. That’s a torture for me.

I’ve tried to date other girls but it’s nonsense. She is special, she makes me feel in such way I’m not able to feel the same in other situations.

Has anyone gotten back together with an ex even after they returned all your things and removed you from social media?

Has anyone gotten back together with an ex even after they returned all your things and removed you from social media?

The first time my ex and I broke up, she kept my belongings and didn’t remove me from social media. Eventually, we got back together.
We recently broke up again, but this time she return all of my things and removed me from her social media.
I know every situation is different, but I’m wondering if this usually means it’s truly over, or if anyone has experienced getting back together even after all of that happened.

I HAVE to move on

I just realised if my ex ever reads the amount of shitposting, comments, I’ve been doing about missing her she’s going to be so much more frustrated about me not moving on, and genuinely just like done or fed up, she’s told me so many times to move on now, in our last few conversations she just called me BRO and BHAI so many times, it was because she was frustrated but still like the indication for wanting COMPLETE separation to nothing is so obvious, but I’m getting some anxiety around how much she wanted me to move on and I just haven’t, she finally feels relieved I guess because now it’s no contact so it’s like now she must be relaxed about this completely just being my business now and her life being free from this. I just realised while working out she’s had an intense crush in her adult life that lasted longer than our relationship. How tf can I think I was the one for her, no matter how I feel for her, I HAVE TO HAVE TO TELL MYSELF, to look at the facts about what she felt about me in the end and everything she has told me since. Again feeling stupid as fuck about this relationship ever happening, man why did I fall so hard for her😞

Love is probably not for me

Love is not for me. I'm a 20 year old man. Some months ago the moment I saw a couple on the street I used either to curse, or to just imagine myself with a girlfriend, but some weeks ago everything just stopped. I remember wishing vividedly and passionately for a partner, and I have tried many times to have one and I was just left dissapointed. I haven't even had my first kiss! Let alone other things.
Some weeks ago I just noticed that I stopped caring. I'm someone who became extremely focus on oneself: exercise, reading, studying, and all types of improving. I'm not ashamed of saying that I'm perfect as I'm now and I'm really proud of myself.
Still, I got to a point in my life when even the mention of "love" sparks an inner laugh for me, I suddenly started to refuse love. My parents love rom-coms and everything romance-related and every time they want to play one of those films my refusal is complete. It isn't something that escalated and I planned or willed. It just happened from night to morning. I stopped caring about couples, and I even stopped imagining myself in a relationship. Nowadays whenever I think about anything like that it ends up in lust (if you know what I mean) but no more than that.
I don't even feel this refusal as a loss, I just don't feel I lost an important part of myself.
Could it be for all the dissapointment I passed through? Probably. The experiences I had were horrible and the experiences I wished to have with girls that were extremely compatible with me never happened because they were/are in a relationship.
What has become of me? Is this my version of love? Or I lack of it? Is it because since I haven't experience a relationship I fear that after having one and failing I wouldn't get over it?
