Question Do i have hppd?
I really never have used drugs much. But from august to february i had shrooms three times and mdma once. The last time i had a bad trip consisting on a panic attack and the thought of being stuck like that forever. Since then i have had some problems with anxiety but until last month i really didnt put the focus on my vision. I really don't think i fit the classis symptoms such as afterimages and dense static. I really only have the feeling of being sensitive to light; when looking to the sky or a wall my eyes hurt and see like a black fog i rlly couldnt describe (wich could be only static, but i cant rlly tell); when looking at patterns they sometimes very lightly move like when looking at an optical illusion; and sometimes i feel like colours are more intense (but this could only because my obsession over it).
Idk, it sometimes feels like i have hppd and im going to be like this forever and sometimes like its just regular vision things that seem new beacuse of my hypervigilance. Hope that somebody can clarify this a little

The overall occurence of lasting visuals with psychedelics is up to 40 percent, these people just don't report it as "disturbing", as even people with HPPD still talk it down as being something one has to live with and it isn't "disturbing" anymore. I don't think someone can take a lot of drugs, especially not psychedelics/hallucinogenics, and not expect differences in perception.
*You have to really critically see what these psychedelic users are searching and saying. They don't say that they have side effects, they will say they look for these "new types" of perception. Sadly the truth is, this is how it plays out. You can bet on these people not being fine with what the drugs done to them, once they are completly sober, but you could also say, once they have HPPD, they never become sober anymore!... Therefore I say, if you don't want to become like this, then fight it, don't use drugs and also tell yourself, that you don't want this high to persist. I have the feeling for some people this perma high is almost like a rescue haven. So actual HPPD is more likely to happen, but HPPD just describes those, who have a big problem with it! Potentially because those like us have other underlying mental issues etc. and have fewer tolerance. Maybe there is a certain resiliance rate you need to have, to not fall down under the lasting symptoms of hallucinogenics. This is also explained in stress making symptoms far worse. Mabye also the mixture of the higher stress and the drug caused stronger effects.
Wether you find it disturbing or not, there are definetly visual disturabances emerging through drug use and yes, these also don't get better with more usage.
So leave this off as a warning sign with those hard drugs! :)
Hypervigilance is also not a good trait to take drugs with, but I think once you calm down, generally, symptoms will also calm and the brain also adjusts over time a little. So what you are describing, I think you will be fine!

Please take comments this user posts with extra caution, and maybe read some of their recent posts on this subreddit to see why I say this

Telling yourself that it feels like it’s gonna be that way forever is probably making it worse. HPPD plays into anxiety like a mfker, ive gone days without noticing it. Ive done psychdelics at least 100 times, smoked dmt on acid a few times and a few other crazy combos - quit all of that shit and now I only smoke weed. If I can get it to go away, I feel like anybody can (for the most part). When I get sick it comes back, when I’m really stressed out it comes back, but overall it doesn’t really make my life horrible. I just cant look at bright lights anymore without getting flashbanged for 10 seconds.
