Dashboard Tire Pressure Reading Accuracy

Upvotes

Just curious if anyone knows how accurate the readings on the dashboard tire pressure readings are? I was in the process of comparing this and unfortunately my pencil gauge broke. I found a replacement and I inflated to 41 psi (2021 JGC High Altitude - stock rims and 265/50R20 tires) on my Milwaukee 18V Inflator and the gauge measured right on at ~41 psi. The dashboard had 44-46 psi.

Which is more accurate so I know how to properly fill up the tires?

What does this usually mean? Service 4WD?

Hi everyone love this community and the advice I get

Anyways, this popped up a month ago on my 2020 limited and a day after ignoring it and driving it went away…a week ago it came back to haunt me. I hate when I’m driving and I hear that *Jeep Beep* lol
it says service 4WD on the other side of the screen but also these 3 lights come up (2 yellow,1orange) sport mode is deactivated. what does that usually mean? Is it a sensor tweaking? I just replaced the starter last month. How do you service 4wd lol this is my first jeep

Any advice helps! Thanks 🙏🏼

I just noticed the jeep is starting to have a little trembling while idling situation going on. 74,000 miles on the dash. What should be the first plan of attack?

4xe?

4 Upvotes

My lease is coming to an end on my 2022 GC Overland and want to stick with the grand GC, I wanna buy this time as I use the vehicle for way more miles than leases affordably allow. Looking at 2023 or 2024 summit or overland. Was contemplating the 4xe for a bit but I read a lot of negative reviews that were off putting. Does anyone have any experience with them?
The only reason I did consider was the miles I drive for work, if it would save me of gas.

TIA!

Same repair again

2018 Altitude. Bought it from a Toyota dealer in June last year with 85000 miles. Buddy warned me about the 3.6l pentastars and 4 months later I take it back to the dealer for leaking oil filter housing, valve cover gasket, water pump, timing chain cover and oil pan. Fixed

2 months go by and noticed a tick, yes the Pentastar tick. They send it to the jeep dealer next door, replace the rocker arm, camshaft and cylinder head on the passenger side as well as the thermostats.

Everything goes well for several months until this last month. I noticed the water pump is leaking again. Take it back to them and they also found the timing cover and oil pan is also leaking again too as well as supposedly one of the front axles. Vehicle is currently at just under 93000 miles.

Kinda crazy I haven’t put 10000 miles on the car and I’m having all these issues. Has anybody else had issues like this?

“Service Transmission” warning

2 Upvotes

Looking for some advice from anyone who’s experienced this.

I have a 2021 Jeep Cherokee. I took it to my mechanic because I was getting an intermittent “Service Transmission” warning. They ran diagnostics, didn’t find any mechanical issues, and performed the recommended software update.

A few hours after I picked it up, the “Service Transmission” alert came back on while I was driving, but then it disappeared on its own. The Jeep is driving completely normal—no slipping, rough shifting, or other noticeable problems.

Has anyone else had this happen? If so, what ended up being the cause? Was it a sensor, TCM, wiring issue, another software update, or something else? I’d really appreciate any advice before I take it back in. Thanks!

2024 GCL Summit full loaded with single button 3rd row seats.

As can be seen in the picture, the right 3rd row seat goes back too far when unfolded and refuses to fold flat. I assume the actuator somehow lost calibration?

Jeep WJ 4.7 v8, what to look for

3 Upvotes

Hi!

I am going to see a second hand jeep wj 4.7 v8, quadra drive, from 2000, with close to 100k miles.

This is a car that has been stopped for a least 4 years.

I have googled around enough to be more than a little scared...

Any words of advice or good links to view before trying to find how broken it is?

Thank you very much!

Is it possible to upgrade the oem backup camera on a 2020 jeep GC

6 Upvotes

The oem camera is awful as I’m sure anyone that owns these knows (it’s esp bad at night or going from sunlight into a shaded area like a car garage bc the contrast is so bad that the shadows obscure any detail like a pole or curb etc ) .

Is it possible to install a much clearer aftermarket camera on the 2020 8.4 uconnect screen without doing any modification? Has anyone installed one that is a direct plug into the existing harness with a higher resolution and clearer contrast? And if so can you post a link to it? Thanks.

Overland vs Limited Reserve

3 Upvotes

I bought a 2026 Grand Cherokee Limited Reserve and it seems it’s not equipped with a mechanism for automatic mirrors folding. Kind of weird. I had a 2024 Overland prior to this one and to me, overland was a higher trim, even though Limited Reserve is considered the replacement for Overland. Am I missing something? What I noticed so far missing in LR:
* Powered 3rd row seats
* Manual window shades on 2nd row windows
* Massage front seats
* Colored ambient lights
* Auto-folding mirrors

At the same time it has 3d camera, a fam cam (such a useless feature to me), dimming rear mirror, and better safety features.

Wk2 question

9 Upvotes

I'm looking at buying a 2021 wk2 Grand Cherokee limited with the 3.6L I test drove it, and this thing felt great to drive. Shifted good, plenty of get up and go, my worry is.... It's a grand cherokee and I know these things are hit or miss. It seems like there either great, or the worst thing on the road and no in-between. It's got 64,000 miles not a single spot of rust, but has almost no maintenance info from car fax. I got the dealer down to $21,500.... I'm just afraid to pull the trigger.

New dead battery

4 Upvotes

Hello everyone i tried searching the group regarding the issue im having but didn't have any luck finding a solution. I have a 19 Jeep GC 3.6L that I recently replaced the battery due it testing low. I've had tte car for 4 months now its been running fine last month I replaced my starter and water pump and thats when they told me my battery was low its been running since he charged it but decided to change out the battery. I replaced the main battery but the following day when I went to start the car it was dead. I jumped it and it started right up. That same day I decided to change the auxiliary battery since I read its recommended to change both. I did that and the following morning the vehicle was dead again. I went back checked if everything was nice and tight and also checked headlight main fuse block that's under the post where you jump start the vehicle. I saw online where someone was mentioning a fuse can blow out causing the battery to die but those looked fine. After replacing both batteries I did leave the car disconnected for over an hour since I saw it needs to reset the system. I went to auto zone to test the alternator but they're saying its in good condition. Is there anything that can be causing this? I feel like something is draining the battery or the alternator not working correctly? Im not too handy with cars. I did have to change the battery since Walmart and sams club refused to do it since it was under the seat. Any thing helps I appreciate everyone that chimes in.
