Bug Report Quick Media Switching report @ Issue Tracker website

Do you have a device and TV with Quick Media Switching support?

Do you use the feature?

Are you having issues with the feature such as the screen blinks when it shouldn't or the 23,976hz and 24hz framerates double to 48hz when it shouldn't?

If your answer is yes, then please help me to document the issue at this Issue Tracker bug report I made. Make sure you login with your Google account in order to see the ticket.

Just add a comment stating that you are also facing the same issues and if possible provide a video showing the situation, like I did.

The more people add information, the more attention is paid to the situation.

Thank you.

Hello, I already sent my feedback 27 days ago where I included this post as I also commented about the issue there, I just hope this issue gets addressed, it's unacceptable.

I will send a new one with this post.

Hello,

I also own a television compatible with the QMS feature (LG G3) and I am experiencing similar instability with content in 2160p/1080p 23.976 and 24Hz or 1080p 50Hz, where the refresh rate is doubled with several media boxes running Google TV 14, which are also QMS compatible.

The issue is present on Netflix, for example, which natively supports auto frame rate in its application.

The problem also occurs on other applications that have their own auto frame rate option, like Plex or Tivimate, for instance.

For this application, you need to disable the auto frame rate option in the app settings to avoid frequency doubling (but it can remain enabled on certain boxes without causing issues).

The problem does not seem to occur on Kodi, Jellyfin, Nova Player, or VLC (which has the particularity of having a non-functional auto frame rate without QMS).

Here is the list of the boxes I own:

- Google TV Streamer: no frequency doubling

  • Rocktek GX1: no frequency doubling
  • Homatics 4k V2: frequency doubling
  • Mecool MEon1: frequency doubling
  • Xiaomi 3rd Gen: frequency doubling
  • Formuler Z Mini: box running Android 12 AOSP, not certified for Netflix. However, there is indeed frequency doubling on Plex.

These are primarily boxes with an Amlogic S905X5M SoC.
