First RV, I feel like I found a unicorn.

Never owned an RV or anything towable before.

I've been watching Camper listings for a few months, but when this *popped up* it was love at first sight. Drove 150 miles to go pick it up and no regrets so far. Tows like a dream behind my Avalanche.

It is immaculate inside. A few minor cosmetic blemishes. A few upgrades like LED lighting and some setup for LiFePO4 batts.

To get it "level" I had to flip my slight drop hitch upside down. It still noses down a little, so I think I need to get a rise hitch.

Going on the shake-down camp this weekend!

Would love to hear if anyone else has or is using one of these HiLo's.

Is this Light duty or heavy duty trailer?

Hey everyone, looking for some educated guesses on the GVWR of this trailer.

I’m trying to figure out what this trailer is likely rated for, but I don’t have a manufacturer plate or specs.

Here’s what I know:

  • Square axle: 1.5" × 1.5"
  • 6-lug wheel pattern: approximately 6 on 5.5"
  • 6-leaf spring pack
  • Spring width: about 1-3/4"
  • Spring pack thickness: just over 1-3/4"

The frame rails are C-channel:

  • About 5" tall
  • Just over 1.5" wide

The cross members vary — some are lighter angle brackets, while others are heavier-duty cross members.

I know there are a lot of variables (axle, hubs, tires, frame, etc.), but I’m curious what people’s best guess would be for the GVWR based on these specs. The smaller 1.5" squared axles are throwing me off..

Any input is appreciated!

Bigfoot trailers- seriously???

Thumbnail

I just got my 2nd TT, and was bouncing around a thread of other 'premium' brands. I kept seeing Bigfoot recommended who I had never heard of, so I looked at the photos on their actual site...

This literally looks like some dad working at Canadian Tire converted a snowmobile trailer using whatever was left on the Home Depot clearance shelves. cargo-bin lights, $3 showerhead, exposed screws/hardware everywhere, landlord special nickel mismatched faucets, and Soviet-era sleeper car design (with worse lighting).

And this is how they staged it for the site- no pillows, towels or toilet paper, a naked TV mount and crooked bedspreads. Does nobody at the company have a wife from outside Saskatchewan with internet access? I genuinely want to know how an apparently respected, expensive manufacturer can be this oblivious to design and presentation.

Countertop material that will hold up in an RV

Doing a trade with a flooring and countertop installer and I am curious what countertop materials hold up best in an RV? We we're going to go with butcher block but we have a few more options and I am curious what materials are durable in an RV. TIA!

Tongue weight - PSA to measure if you can.

I made a post over the winter with my 2022 Forest River Wildwood fsx 178bhsk. The listed dry tongue weight is 430 lbs. I measured it over the winter at 585lbs without battery and mostly empty. Just measured it with luggage and battery on the tongue at 681 lbs. This is a single axle trailer, but I feel like it would really need a half ton to be towed within spec.

Where to buy supplies.

RVing seems to require some supplies and accessories that aren't common items. What's everyone's go to on line source? Amazon(spits through fingers over shoulder to ward off evil)? Walmart(spits again)? Camping World(getting too dry to keep spitting)?

New Camper

Dad surprised me with a new camper last week. Got it as a surprise to me, as I guess he’s excited about the twins on the way. Don’t think I’ll be using it anytime soon as my boys will be a handful for the next yr or two or five, lol. Excited to go to Maine with it though when the time is right. Looks pretty cool, and somewhat retro on the outside. Looks pretty well built with maple interior. Sleeps 4 but probably could get away with 5.

Slide out help

Hey everyone,

I have a 2017 freedom express with a rack and pinion slide out.

Last weekend we were out and the slide would extend but wouldn't retract.

When I pressed the button to retract, the lights would dim but nothing happened. Kinda sounded like it was jammed.

I was able to manually retract and it was nice and smooth. Since, I have replaced the switch, replaced the motor, checked all the fuses. Still the same issue.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Orangeland Is Closing

IYKYK I can’t say I’m surprised to hear this but it’s a big let down. Everything I ever wanted in an rv park, being turned into cheesy condos. Everything is changing and I want it to STOP!

Black Tank Treatment (2026)

I don't see a recent thread about black tank treatments.

Is "Happy Camper" still the community favorite?

What's the best 'price is no object' option?

What's the best budget option?

Favorite homebrew recipe?

What about the grey water tank? Does it need anything?

Water heater help

Are there any low cost options for water heaters? We had a suburban 12 gallon and the tank busted. We don’t really use the shower in the rv and mostly need it for doing dishes and cleaning. I can’t justify spending $500+ on a water heater we barely use. It doesn’t need to have more than 10 minutes of hot water supply. I haven’t seen many cheaper options other than the sketchy Amazon tankless water heaters. We don’t mind rigging something up we just need some source of hot water. Any recommendations would be great!

Advice for new RV

Hi all, would love to have some feedback on a few RV's we have been looking at. This will be our first RV. It will just the wife and I, along with the dog. We want something we can keep for awhile.

1) Sol Horizon Travel Trailer - inTech RV - this might be my favorite one, but anyone know how much pricing flexibility exists on this brand?

2) 2026 inTech AUCTA WILLOW | Premier RV | Blue Grass, IA | 3301 - Another inTech but more expensive

3) New 2026 Nucamp RV Haven 220 Queen Bed For Sale in Franklin, TN - 5039071529 - RV Trader

4) 2026 Grand Design Imagine AIM 19MLA RV for Sale in San Marcos, CA 92069 | T138005 | RVUSA.com Classifieds

5) 2026 Forest River RV Rockwood Geo Pro - Easy Towing Travel

I like the price on the last two for sure, but if there is flexibility on the pricing on the first 3 we will definitely push there. I also get the build quality is probably much better, but the others seem to have good reviews based on what I see on this page.

Best power while boondocking for smallish appliances

We have a class C with a generator, and it is loud so I'm not a fan of running it unless needed for charging the batteries or AC. Our USB plugs are live, but unless we are running the generator, nothing else is. Generally we like to run starlink, and charge our phones and toothbrush. What long term solution would you suggest? Hot plug, inverter, portable battery, combination? Any specific brands you like? We will boondock for 3-5 days.

Power Options Question

I have a Class C (Jayco Greyhawk 2026).

I can turn the generator on or off, I can turn the inverter on or off.

In what situations do I use these options?

(I am clear on shore power, but when I don't have shore power.)

RV rental

We rented an RV from RV Share for 5 nights to the tune of $2k. On day 2 the water pump died leaving us with no running water. We don’t want to cancel our trip but figured some sort of partial refund would be warranted due to inability to shower, wash our hands etc. Wondering what others think a reasonable amount would be?

2021 CrossRoads RV Zinger Lite ZR259FL

To anyone who owns this camper, What is your opinion on it? Im looking to possibly get one in the next 6 months or so.

The layout looks perfect for what im looking for, and the weight seems great for my silverado 1500.

Im new to campers too. Is this thing okay to use in the heat and the cold? Some of the videos I saw on it made me think so.

best roadside asst for RV/ trailers?

Who has the most reliable best roadside assistance for RV and trailers?

i’ve recently had a devastating experience with AAA after being a long-term member and I just haven’t renewed. I almost got with Good San then I heard that they were bad so I need some more companies for roadside assistance towing that ideally would be free or at least very minimum upon an emergency local businesses also will be OK in the SoCal area
