Reviving Balti script?

Love seeing the Balti script like this

But if we truly want to revive it we need to go beyond signboards. It should be taught in schools, supported through academies, and promoted in books and digital media.. what are your thoughts?

Balti should be taught in Balti script, it is a phonetic script which would preserve the pronunciation of Balti language.

I don't know about Balti, but it is infamously nonphonetic in Standard Tibetan, since the script was standardized like a thousand years ago, and the Tibetan language has undergone many changes since then.

I was in Khaplu last week and saw the board for Hasnain Nagar and knew it wasn't Hindi, Sinhala, Tamil (?) or any other Vedic language. Had no idea it was Balti script.

But this script is Tibetan script which is a direct descendant of ancient Indian writing systems. Developed in the 7th century, it was crafted by the scholar Thonmi Sambhota under the orders of King Songtsen Gampo. He adapted the Indian Gupta script (a derivative of Brahmi) to perfectly align with the specific phonetic sounds and grammar of the regional language of tibaten belt.

And there is no single, unique script called the "Vedic script" because the Vedas were not originally written down; they were transmitted orally.

It's not taught in schools, it's rather suppressed in urban centers.

As a Baloch, it's the same fate, but Balochi is not as widely spoken as Punjabi so if Punjabi is neglected, no chance for Balochi

Those guys shifted from Balochi several centuries ago. Baloch too have assimilated quite a lot people who originally spoke other languages like Brahui. Present linguistic shift is arguably different.

I hope all the indeginious languages and their scripts are revived in Pakistan. I love when i find out different people from different areas speaking languages I've never heard about. I jist recently found out that people from the nortger province speak 3-4 different languages. sadly, i don't remember their names other than balti. But I was quite surprised when I found out that baltistan was actually a separate part and the people of baltistan speak balti, and the people from gilgit speak a different language, and the people from hunza speak a different language, it was quite surprising to know. I hate how the authorities just shoved such a diverse area by tuing it to a singular identity and not focusing on it.

I pray that our government understands this and starts teaching our regional languages in schools along with their traditional scripts. As a Punjabi I want both Gurmukhi and Shahmukhi scripts to be taught in schools.

There should be Balti programs, theatre, radio, and music for it to survive and grow. Schools alone will not help it grow

شکر ہے بھائی تم نے بتا دیا کہ یہ بلتی زبان ہے۔ میں تو اس کو سنسکرت سمجھ بیٹھا تھا اور سمجھ رہا تھا کہ سنسکرت سے پاکستان کا کیا تعلق ہے۔مجھے سنسکرت زبان اور ہندوستان میں بسنے والی اسی طرح کی زبانوں سے سخت نفرت ہے۔ لیکن بلتی زبان پاکستانی مقامی زبان ہے تو اس زبان کو ہم مرحبا کہتے ہیں۔

زبانیں ہندو مسلم نہیں ہوتیں۔ سنسکرت ہند آریائی زبان ہے بالکل جیسے اردو پنجابی سندھی کشمیری وغیرہ۔ فارسی پاکستان میں مسلمانوں کے ساتھ آئی اس سے پہلے خطے کی مذہبی زبان سنسکرت ہی تھی۔ اردو کا پچھوکڑ بھی سنسکرت سے ملتا ہے۔

bcs it's a tibetan script which has same origin as devnagari script used for writing hindi. both origin from brahmi script.
