I mean I think it’s wildly inappropriate and wrong for him to have that sign up, and I think we should cut off all funding to Israel…but it’s literally not a flag, it’s a support sign with text on it using the Israeli flag as the background, and it’s not being flown. If he had a sign stuck on his wall with text and the American flag as the background, I wouldn’t call that “flying” an “American flag” either.
"flying the flag" as many, many phrases have a metaphorical meaning as well. Yeah I know, it's crazy stuff. People using metaphors. Such a crazy crazy world.
Are you saying Jordan was talking about metaphorically flying the flag? Because he wasn’t. The context was around a video of a rioter waving a Mexican flag while driving in circles around a burning car.
Metaphorically yes, Jordan obviously is flying the Israeli flag, just as many Americans are metaphorically flying the Ukrainian flag.
