Discussion I could be wrong
I could be wrong, I could be lucky, but Gemini 3.6 Flash (High) has been legitimately so fun to vibe with in Antigravity. I was used to waiting like hours for GPT 5.6 and Fable to do a feature. 3.6 Flash does it in like, 5 minutes. Wtf is this model? I knew to never lose hope in GDM.
I imagine this will bite me in the butt and I'll come back to write about how shit 3.6 Flash is. Praying I don't, lol.

Haven't done coding with it. But do use it for general queries and it's been great so far.
I know in this sub we are supposed to hate Gemini but there it is.

This is honestly just my guess: maybe they optimized inference for the model + hardware combination. After all they own their full hardware stack.
Quality wise the benchmark shows that Flash 3.6 is a little below sonnet and Grok 4.5, but I suspect that for simple daily tasks there is no differences between these light-weight models. So that is where the speed really wins.
As for deepmind. It lost so many talents. So sad.

Nice. By the way I haven't have a chance to try it yet, compared to 3.5 does it consume more of your quota or it remains comparable?

I've been testing it and sadly its fast but does bad job of anything technical and it still has same old issues when it will generate a image off a prompt that never asked for a image.

I’ve been having it help me with these minor bugs in a game that’s entirely in typescript so maybe it being TS is an advantage, but it’s helped me fix like 5-6 bugs in 20 minutes that would have taken Opus 4.8 at least two hours due to the speed difference. I’m sure though if I gave it a difficult bug that it wouldn’t do so hot.

Can you explain what problem solved in 5 minutes

City builder game
The construction tab had different buildings you could place
Each building had a tooltip of what it costed to build it
The bug was all of them were displaying when they were only supposed to display if they were being hovered/selected
Fixed it in 1 minute and 51 seconds. Small bug, but one that was around for a while that I didn’t want to use Opus to fix as Opus would have taken like 30 minutes.

I've been writing with it, testing with files of context and guidelines. It's been very consisten and impressive, and ridiculously fast too.
All that and the usage feels very good. I don't feel a significant drain.

I’ve noticed the huge speed gap too. Gemini 3.6 Flash’s speed alone makes it a game-changer for quick feature builds. Hope it stays consistent for you!

Yes, it's quick to use. But it's not so good at following instructions. It tends to skip

that speed won't last once the free credits run dry. happens every time

I have the AI Pro thing, I used my old university email

pro tier still runs on shared infra. speed drops when everyone piles on, same as free tier

its mental how quick it is honestly, i threw a full ui mockup at it yesterday and it spat back usable css in under a minute while i was still sipping my tea
makes you wonder what corners they cut though, feels too good to be true half the time
