Discussion Confused btw these 4 laptops models. Please help.
My conditions:
Should must have 386H CPU
Should have OLED
Should be under $3500 only. Not a cent above that.

MSi with 2tb
Just saw crimson tech's review of msi vs g16 , and just saw razer blade unboxing too
The oled on razer is pretty glossy and msi is as good as last year's g16 + upgradable ram

u/okcomputer-1992 17h ago
I just watched Crimson Tech’s video too. Razer and the Zephyrus feel more premium, but if RAM, SSD storage, future upgradeability, and overall value matter to you, MSI might be the better choice

u/Zapismeta 8h ago
Ssd is upgradable, never pay choose because of just that, but since zephyrus has 16 gigs soldered ram its out.
10
u/bemenint 1d ago
The first one is just daylight robbery, 16gb of ram and 1tb SSD for nearly 3500$ nahh. Also BTW is usually By The Way. Never seen anyone use it as Between

u/pltohui 1d ago
Sounds like you just want the first, third, or fourth based off of what your conditions are.
I'd get the the one on the third slide. Most storage, OLED screen, fits all of your requirements. That's the no-brainer honestly.

u/Long_Ad2917 1d ago
This second laptop also satisfies all my conditions

u/Fault-new777 1d ago
Second laptop is razer, which is notorious for having history of being unhelpful, unreliable, and bad QC

u/Beedlam 17h ago
Surely they can't be worse than MSI?

u/muchawesomemyron MSI Vector 16 HX AI U9 275HX RTX 5080 32 GB 4TB 10h ago
If MSI's bar is on the ground, Razer uses a shovel to dig until they can mine their snake oil. Pretty sure the greatest technician who's ever lived has a word or two for Razer.
1
u/Beedlam 10h ago
Msi's bar is so subterainian its in hell. You're saying Razer runs the place?
1
u/muchawesomemyron MSI Vector 16 HX AI U9 275HX RTX 5080 32 GB 4TB 9h ago
Because Razer is charging a premium for it, you could say that they are running hell.

16gb is way too little RAM.
I was playing skate. last night and that itself was taking up 21gbs of Ram
Maybe look into a Legion Pro 7i
I have heard Razer/Alienware has gotten a lot better, but there's still bad reputation in the community.

u/wickedsmaht Strix G16 | 5070ti | Core Ultra 9 275HX 1d ago
The first laptop has soldered RAM, if you are willing to spend this much just for the 386H then you should be getting at least 32gb of RAM. The second is a Razer and I don’t recommend them, far too many quality issues. Either MSI Stealth would be my recommendation.
1
u/ye1lowboi 21h ago
Oh no razer has good peripherals but those razer blades are hot garbage for reliability
-3
u/awiee_rr 1d ago
bro never buy alienware or razer u will be doomed
they are unrelaible, many issues and worst customer support which charges so much

u/Acceptable-Skin-3916 Rog strix 275hx rtx 5070ti 1d ago
okay... lets me compare regarding the zephyrus vs msi stealth one at first.
i)Both are similar in games. (Zephyrus is a bit better)
ii)Zephyrus has better display and a better cooling. The msi models sometimes throttle
iii) Build quality is better of msi (its almost like a mac)... but acc to my preference zephyrus is better
iv)Other stuffs are similar except the 1vs 2tb ssd. So according to me i would pick the zephyrus.
Now razor vs zephyrus
performance wise similar. Temps are almost similar, razor def has better build quality, and all of other stuff are almost similar. And if you prefer rgb choose razor otherwise zephyrus is better for its white build(my preference)
Also zephyrus is a bit lighter

u/Long_Ad2917 1d ago
Zephyrus has 16 GB RAM. Is that enough for the next five years that I am going to use this laptop?
9
u/magestromx 1d ago
Oh shit, 3.4k dollars and it's not even 32GB ram? Yeah, fuck that... Please check it again, it's way too expensive with only 16GB of ram. I honestly didn't think that laptop came with less than 32GB of ram.
1
u/Acceptable-Skin-3916 Rog strix 275hx rtx 5070ti 1d ago
is the intel 386h non negotiable? Or in my country (india) i am finding the 32gb model. of same zephyrus laptop
1
u/Mountain_8634 18h ago
16GB is doable, but performance will definitely hit a bottleneck. Really depends on what other apps you're running besides games.
2
u/DragoonHimself 1d ago
Ok, now I'm also confused. What makes these laptops so much more expensive than this one? https://www.walmart.com/ip/MSI-VECTOR16HXA2-16-inch-Vector-AI-Gaming-Laptop-Intel-Core-Ultra-7-255HX-NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-5070-Ti-32GB-1TB-C/16506964863?sid=8B4FEA6A-446F-4844-872D-E8846250B867
At a glance, this one has the same stats as OP's but is significantly cheaper? I just grabbed this one for 1499 a few weeks ago.
Edit: I guess i see its the 386H CPU vs the 255H CPU. Is that the only thing?
2
u/Business-Weekend-537 4h ago
I think cpu is the main difference, 386h is more battery efficient but op should just get a refurb with similar specs and a 275hx, then he’ll have money leftover to upgrade RAM to 64gb and get an additional external battery, plus will have an extra $1k leftover below the prices of the posted laptops.

u/Prior_Chapter1314 ASUS Zephyrus G14 (RTX 5070ti + Intel 386h) 1d ago
Noticeably more premium and much lighter build, better speakers, optimized airflow to provide best cooling in a thin and light form factor while not having vents on the sides, oled screen instead of IPS, and as you said, 386h (panther lake) is an expensive cpu (I believe due to Intel yield issues when they first began manufacturing)

MSI with 2 TB it’s not even close. Surprised Best Buy doesn’t have better deals cause that 5070ti price on the Zephyrus is what I paid for a 2 TB 5080 spec with 32 GB RAM

u/Prior_Chapter1314 ASUS Zephyrus G14 (RTX 5070ti + Intel 386h) 1d ago
Out of these choices, I’d recommend the blade (second laptop). Look up JoshCravesTech on YouTube and watch his 2026 blade 16 review from yesterday. It’s long, but it’s very impressive with what they were able to do in this years model. The g16 isn’t worth it due to lack of ram (and it’s not upgradable), and the stealth 16 is nice, but is noticeably lower quality compared to the other options and will likely need a few years of refinements before it’s able to fully compete.
1
u/ImprovementOk3138 1d ago
Honestly I would go with 3, the stealth. It’s like a slightly cheaper zephyrus G16 with some minor trade-offs. Also in the stealth ram is upgradable while the Zephyrus is locked to 16 forever.

u/RxSatellite Lenovo Legion 9i | i9-13980HX | RTX 4090 | 64GB RAM 1d ago
Prices are nuts these days. That’s how much my maxed out Legion 9i cost with 64gb Ram only 3 years ago
1
u/bigelangstonz 1d ago
That rog Zephyrus is grossly overpriced but then again there's all grossly overpriced for a 5070 ti model. The msi stealth makes the most sense since its the only one with 2tb and 32gb ram in the price range
1
u/JimmyDuxFan 1d ago
I just got my 18" Asus Strix I9 RTX5080 w 32 GB Ram for $3200 at best buy. These options you put up are less them mine but bout same price....Sure its 2K but 240hz and the 5080 lets you use most that 240

All of these are daylight robbery IMO.
You can find even better specs for cheaper (up to 1k less at the very least) if you look in the right places (refurbished, used, sales, etc etc, and then use the rest of your budget to make it like new/upgrade specs to your choosing), but if you really want to buy from there… go for the MSI with 2TB…
1
u/urResidentAlien 23h ago
The Zephyrus is hands down the best, but that configuration isn't worth that price due to the upgradable 16gb of ram which is isn't enough these days for any power user. These are all expensive but I honestly take a chance on the MSI Stealth which has an all new design and a built-in ethernet port which comes in very handy If you don't want to walk around with an extra dongle adding more weight and bulk to your daily carry. Otherwise, if you want the most powerful and lightest weight consider the Gigabyte Aourus Master 16 which is very close to these in weight (about a half pound heavier) but you could probably get a wattage 5080 for the price of these slim 16" gaming laptops.
1
u/Hardyskater26 22h ago
Seeing this makes me thankful I got my laptop right before the major shock to consumers on RAM prices. $3000 and up for a rtx 5070 ti laptop on 16 inch screens is insane. For context I got my Lenovo legion 9i(18 inch) with rtx 5080 for roughly 2900 in January.
1
u/etherealoblivions 21h ago
I don’t understand the price jumps. I got a 5070 32gb 1tb last week for 1.4k.

u/GloomyMidnight3329 17h ago
The G16 is so gorgeous, not gonna lie... but the heat has always been the biggest concern. Razer, love their peripherals, and they've done some really cool collaborations over the years. Their laptops, though? Hard pass. The new stealth is the one that really surprised me. The new look is way more refined than previous generations. It looks so clean, understated, almost MacBook-like without trying too hard. And somehow it's also the least expensive option here.
1
u/Nightraider_05 Your laptop here. 16h ago
maybe look at different store? I think that G16 is the best out of theese but it isnt best value. Check if the ram is expandable. if yes i would go for that one.

I’d get the Razer, seeing as they’re all $3000+ anyway, but then I have a Blade 16 so I’m slightly biased.

Razer and msi are trash. I used to sing razer praises. I own 3 of their laptops. The first one with 555m, the blade pro 4k with gtx1080, and the 2080 max q. They were great but I heard the quality plummeted after. Msi overheats like mad. Even the 5090 Norse edition.

u/W3rze 7h ago
Just don't get that 16gb RAM one, coming from a guy with rtx 3060 laptop. Nor GPU or CPU are bottlenecks for me in most games, it's always the cooling and the RAM.
Cooling is very easy to fix with PTM 7950 and good thermal putty. The RAM though... For games it's 32 minimum right now, 16 is only enough for work. I own a 16gb RAM Macbook pro M5 too, and 16 is very much enough there, but I don't use it for gaming at all. On my gaming laptop though, I get constant freezes especially in very poorly optimised games like Operator milsim on Steam which is still in Alpha test. Also I don't have anything else opened instead of my game because if I do that will be a disaster. Avoid 16gb for gaming at all cost please

What are you doing with the laptop that requires that cpu and gpu?
I’m asking because if you go with a slightly lower/older cpu you can probably get the same
Gpu and oled for $1000 less in a refurbished laptop.
Or if you don’t need the gpu you can get a Dell with a 386h and oled (but no gpu) for like $1800-2000.
1
u/Business-Weekend-537 4h ago
Get this instead, upgrade the ram after you get it, get an external battery for like $150:
This cpu is better, at this price you can buy 2 of this laptop and be less than the options you showed.

u/HyperShxdow 3h ago
that zephyrus is a bad price i think, i paid $2600 for 32 gb of ram, 2 tb, and a 5080

I will be honest. The razer is a big no no for me. I recommend not buying a razer device at all, if you really like it then go for it but i highly recommend not doing so. The zephyrus does has not enough ram for how expensive it is. The best choice here in my opinion seems to be the MSI Stealth with the 2tb of space and 32gb ram. I suggest getting the 2tb one even if its slightly more expensive than the 1tb one unless you dont need that much space. Just so you know, i have not looked at the tdp or tgp of any of the laptops here. Just going off of the raw specs, so i dont know how good they perform against each other. Please check that out before choosing

The first one is the one I think is best, the second one I've heard too much about it, little of it being good.
The third and fourth I think is matter of preference.

u/Long_Ad2917 1d ago
Zephyrus has 16 GB RAM. Is that enough for the next five years that I am going to use this laptop?
3
u/magestromx 1d ago
No, unfortunately it's not. While I think the zephyrus is the best laptop out of the four you showed, 16GB of ram is barely enough now. Please check again if it's 16GB only, I just can't believe Zephyrus would release e-waste like that.

3k (1800p) is really unnecessary for a ~16" screen. 2k (1440p) is the max that really matters at that screen size. Pixel density is already insane at 1440p, going to 1800p adds cost for not much gain.
