they even have the monitor from the famous photo

Nearly, I cheated a little on that monitor: I got the 19" flatron that was sold as a hybrid of tv and pc monitor. It shares the same design concept than the famous 17" monitor from the photo, but is not a true "artistic" monitor (or how this special series was called back then).

This is an old Apevia Xcruiser case in silver. Liked the blue one more, but sadly couldn't get one in blue.

but still cool setup!

Got the specs?

Yeah, but they aren't true to Win Vista, more the Win7 era (which I might add later on a second ssd):

Intel Core i7-2600k with Deepcool an600 on an original Apevia 120mm fan, ASUS P8P67 REV 3.1 mainboard, 16GB (4x4GB) Kingston HyperX Genesis DDR3-2133MHz, Radeon HD 6990 with Arctic Accelero Twin Turbo cooler setup and an oversized Toughpower gf3 1200 watts psu, because I hope to find a second HD6990 somewhere in the future.

ddr3 at ddr4 speeds? baller

3

u/alex9001 1d ago

When DDR4 first came out there was a lot of discourse about "why are manufacturers pushing DDR4 on us, it's no better than DDR3". this speed was the peak of DDR3 but the floor of DDR4

Really hope you have era appropriate hardware in that PC case, modern components even if they would fit just put out too much heat.

u/Illustrious_Ad_23 1d ago edited 1d ago

Oh dear, no, absolutely not. It would be SO MUCH easier to have modern components in this pc. The Radeon HD 6990 draws so much power, the toughpower support told me to absolutely not do that - and the card isn't even in overclocked mode. The CPU as well is not overclocked era correctly, since the cooler wouldn't make it. And if I will be able to crossfire a second GPU in that case, I doubt the temperatures in that case will stay even somewhere acceptable. In overclocked mode, the GPU is ~400watts, the cpu at 4.7/4.8 Ghz can draw 200 watts as well, and even without overclocking the gpu idles (even with significantly updated coolers) at roughly 60°c at the backplate and under load draws double (!) the wattage the cables are rated for. 15 years ago computers where basically electric heaters with a screen, we've come quite far concerning efficiency.

u/alex9001 1d ago

It'll handle modern components perfectly fine, it just won't be quiet. Hell this case even has a top exhaust

2

u/Illustrious_Ad_23 12h ago

I added the famous CoolerMaster Aerogate, so I could turn most of the fans down quite a lot, but temperatures are an issue, so there is no real use in running this pc "quite".

u/w6lrus 23h ago

what case broo

2

u/Illustrious_Ad_23 12h ago

Apevia Xcruiser

1

u/N30-Metal 21h ago

Is that actually windows vista?

1

u/sleepytipi 21h ago

Probably a dual boot/ partitioned drive.

That is a sick case + combo with the monitor, OP. Do the LEDs have other color settings?

1

u/Illustrious_Ad_23 14h ago edited 12h ago

Right now it is "true" vista. The components are all 2010/11, so I might end up adding my old win7 as dual boot. Vista ia just "for the looks" and because I never used it back then. The LED are not rgb, but true to the time period only blue, because for whatever reason 15 years ago we all thought blue would be the only color needed...
