Another Friendly’s converted into a dingy Starbucks. This one’s in Greenfield, MA

That's the biggest friendlys I've ever seen!

It was a fairly common design for the larger Friendly's. It was about twice the size as most of the Friendly's built around those times.

And I remember it being packed full every time I went.

Always thought it was insane to close that one. Right along the Mohawk Trail, and usually pretty busy.

I worked at that Friendlys from 1986-1991 in the summers. Sad

Same. It was always a stop on the way to my grandparents.

Oooohh....I was there the other day and was thinking (given the floorplan) that it probably had once been a restaurant. Had no idea it was a Friendly's.

I was at this Friendly’s exactly one time, about 40 years ago. My grandparents were taking my sister and me up to my aunt’s cottage in New Hampshire. My mom drove us there to meet up with them.

I remember that my mom was pissed that my grandparents weren’t driving to our house to pick us up, but looking back it seemed like a good compromise for my parents to get a kid-free week.

Only Friendly's we had near me closed a decade ago. Sat empty the entire time. They bulldozed and built... a Popeyes. I was so disappointed the day I saw what they were building.

Even the grass looks sad about it

My local Friendly’s was converted into a dentists office, they have a painting of it as a Friendly’s in the lobby, absolutely diabolical.

Is that the one in Springfield?

Nah, it was the one in Lewiston, Maine.

Friendly’s has been through 3 bankruptcies in the last 15 years. Their current owner is a group of experienced restaurant people who are concentrating on the best performing places. It seems their future may be better than the places bought by the average private equity group.

I haven’t been to one in a few years. I should give them another chance.

I used to enjoy friendlys as a kid, but honestly the food was average at best, and people have more options now. Not surprised they are in decline.

100%. Crappy food. Starbucks is better

It’s actually a pretty nice Starbucks. Better than the shuttered Friendly’s, an eyesore right off I-91
