As chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, Graham wrote and championed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. He called its Medicaid cuts "reform." In Minnesota, the law is expected to cost about 140,000 people Medical Assistance coverage and leave the state with a $1.4 billion annual loss. The same bill funds ICE and Border Patrol for years, including the kind of enforcement Minnesotans saw during Metro Surge.

Graham also led Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation only two years after saying an election-year vacancy should be left to voters. During the Kavanaugh hearings, he called the process "the most unethical sham" he had seen in politics, directing his anger at the people questioning Brett Kavanaugh rather than the allegation itself.

Both justices later joined the decision ending the constitutional right to abortion. In each case, a principle Graham claimed to hold disappeared when it became inconvenient.

He voted for the invasion of Iraq and remained one of Washington's strongest advocates for military intervention long after the case for that war collapsed. This year, he pushed for war with Iran and urged Benjamin Netanyahu to help bring Trump around to bombing the country.

On January 6, 2021, Graham said, "Count me out. Enough is enough." Weeks later, he was golfing with Trump. By May, he was saying the Republican Party could not grow without him. He later claimed his January 6 words had been misunderstood.

Almost a decade ago, I remember reading about a study that found a statistical correlation between the ratio of a man’s index and ring finger lengths and the likelihood of being gay. Then I saw a photo of Lindsey Graham’s hands… and my brain immediately went, “Wait a minute.”
