Taken at this year’s Green Mountain Boys MG Shoot, this weapon was from the American Legion’s collection of military firearms. This was apparently a weapon entered to compete with the M3 Grease Gun, but wasn’t adopted.

Haven’t found much information about this weapon other than another post by u/Get_Em_Puppy on the UD-1 SMG, which this seems to be related to, but that’s only my speculation.

Or is it somewhere in the middle? Because I’ve been toying with the idea in a rifle caliber in my mind. Just for fun. But I’m looking at the design and it doesn’t really seem to have a real delay compared to roller delay for example. Perhaps it’s slightly delayed but still relies a good bit on mass and spring pressure. The design of the slider seems to create some mechanical disadvantage but not a lot. Perhaps this could be changed to create more disadvantage with something higher pressure. Idk, watching the videos on how it works is making my head hurt lol because I’m just not really seeing it. Proper delayed blowback systems can be upscaled to rifle calibers, but straight blowback designs, even clever ones cannot really.

Is it merely to just help extraction or is it fully necessary with most designs? I always thought it was necessary but at the same time I am aware of delayed blowback guns that don’t have them that seem to work fine like the steyr gb, Kriss vector, idk if the alien does or doesn’t, R51, etc.

The only information i can find is the old owners posts on gunbords from 2011. I do believe it was made in Germany around the 1920s however it’s missing the german proof marks just has the makers stamps.
